Sorry for my lack of tech knowledge, but how do you stand at address with your iPad in front for viewing yet have the view as from DTL? That’s what I want.

Are we saying use both the phone and iPad/tablet?

Yes to the last question.

You put your iPhone DL, and stream that video to your iPad on the ground.

Beat me to it by that much. If you had 2 phones and 2 tablets, you could have face on and down the line views, just like in Golftec. But it'll be like you're getting ready for a movie shoot when you set up.

Can this be done without wifi? I don't have wifi at my practice tee.

If you split screened one iPad, you could just have three total devices. Or two, if you used the camera in the one on the ground and didn't mind the ground view for your face-on.

I guess it's either using peer to peer wi-fi/wi-fi direct, which means you don't have to connect to a base station, or Bluetooth rather than wi-fi.

That's very clever! Not so sure anyone would be want to walking up to the range with 2 tripods.

The app is live now, here is my literally tried it for one minute review. It's off the bat easy to use, just downloaded app on iPhone and iPad, ran them both, the iPad found the iPhone and done.

Tried turning off wifi on both devices to see if it worked, of course not, while the instructions say you don't need a wi-fi connection, that means connecting to a specific base station but of course wi-fi radios need to be on so they can talk to each other.

I also screen captured the pricing, which was very close to what I expected, thought it would be $25/year, off by $1. Based on what I see so far, it looks pretty good.

Cool. Not sure my WiFi can reach my garage area where I set up my net, but there may be ways to boost that. I don't have cellular on the iPad, but I could set up my iPhone as a hot spot I think.

I look forward to a more in depth review Steve. Thanks!

And you were only off by $0.99. :-)

I don't think you'll need your talk to your home wifi, as long as the devices are close together, it should be fine. That's my guess.

Yes. Wireless networks can be created and used for transmitting video from device to device without the wireless network being connected to the internet.

It probably works in a similar way that my drone does.

The remote controller from the drone creates its own wireless network (that isnt connected to the internet) and then my phone connects to that same wireless network, and the drone sends the camera footage to the controller and then the controller sends the footage to the app on my phone over the wireless network with no internet connection required.

sounds like "double speak" to me, but only because I am not that technology literate on those sort of gadgets. Heck, I still think that connecting your smart phone to your car's audio system via Blue Tooth is magic.

I tried in a place with no wi-fi base stations, or at least if there were, I had no access to them, no password. The app works, with the wifi on, but not connected to any base stations. It'll be interesting to see how battery usage goes, my phone battery is pretty bad.

Was looking at the Instagram account. So it looks like 2 camera setup is in the works. For me, this is really big icing on the cake. I've always thought someone would eventually do this. I predicted the future! A bit of a Captain Obvious idea though as I've worked with the Golftec setup.

Phase 2, tried it at indoor range, limited time.

You hit the connect button from the iPad to connect to the phone, if you do the reverse, hit the connect button from the phone, the iPad's camera is used.

There is a little lag in the video casting. Not awful, noticeable, but I can work with that. There's also a horizontal flip toggle which is useful if you get confused which way is which.

Good - you hit the record button from the iPad, no going back to camera.

Bad - you can't trim the video in the app and the download from the phone to the tablet takes awhile, so not smooth sailing to review video. Limited test, no time, so maybe not using it right. You can export to Photos and trim it there.

Bad - I toggled to slo motion, figured that's 240 fps, but when I selected 1/8 speed playback, the slowest option, the video was very fuzzy, wasn't 240fps.

What I wanted was to trim and playback in 240 fps. If I'm using it correctly and this isn't available, I suspect it shouldn't be difficult to do in future updates.

If the weather were warmer and I could test this outdoors would have more time, but based on first real world use, it's very good as a mirror, looking down at your tablet is better than looking at a mirror in front of you, but disappointed in video recording and playback functionality.

Also while the recording phone was in portrait, I had to stand the tablet in portrait mode too, there must be a way to toggle to view in landscape on the tablet, but record in portrait on phone? This is not a big deal though, way down on the fix it list.

I turned down phone display to lowest brightness and it seems the battery usage isn't too bad, although the phone did run hot.

OK, was tooling around with the app and was able to export the video to Photos and it was 240 fps. This is good. If I can find an outdoor range that's open tomorrow, will use it some more.

The tip at the end isn't one I had thought of. I was able to get a nice session in today. I found it somewhat annoying that I had to switch to slow-mo on the camera device (my iPhone), and couldn't do it on my iPad (viewing device, in front of the golf ball).

Now that it’s getting cold here, combined with the fact that I find myself doing more and more slow motion work at home in my downtime, this is the best app for my game I’ve ever used.

I started getting in a nasty habit of watching my club go back in the takeaway due to doing mirror work at home. Being able to work on my takeaway looking down where the ball is without having to look back has been absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!

I downloaded the app and tested it out. Worked well outside. I exported the slow motion videos to Photos, but they seem to be real speed not 240fps. Is there a setting for that?

    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
    • I agree with @klineka & @DaveP043 above.  When a new member first joins the club they cold be told that they are not eligible for tournaments until they have an established HCP.  As you said, it only takes a few rounds.  If they do not to post HCP that was their choice and choices have consequences.  If playing in the tournament is important to them then they should step up and establish an HCP.  Maybe they miss the 1st tournament, is that a real big deal?  And if it is a "Big Deal" to them then they had the opportunity to establish the HCP. As for not knowing how to report for HCP I assume your club has a pro and they should be able to assist in getting the scores reported and I suspect out of state courses may also have staff that can assist if asked.

    • Cool here's my tweak, "If a player’s ball lies in the general area and there is interference from exposed tree roots or exposed rocks that are in the fairway or 1 club length from the fairway the tree roots and exposed rocks are treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.[But relief is not allowed if the tree roots only interfere with the player’s stance.]
    • I would never do the extended warranty on the $50 slow cooker.  I also routinely reject the extended service plans on those toys we buy for the grand-kids.  I do consider them on higher cost items and will be more likely to get one if the product has a lot of "Electronic Tech" that is often the problem longer-term.  I also consider my intended length of ownership & usage.  If my thought is it would get replaced in 2-3 years then why bother but if I hope to use it for 10 years then more likely to get the extension. I did buy out a lease about a year ago.  Just prior to the lease end date the tablet locked up and would not function.  I got it repaired under the initial warranty and would not have bought it out if they had not been able to fix it since IMO once electronic issues start in a car they can be hard to track down & fix.  They did fix it but when I bought out the lease I paid up for the extended warranty the would cover electronic failures because my intent is to keep that car for another 8-10 years and I just do not trust the electronics to last.  Last week the touch screen went black and was unresponsive.  It reset on the 2nd time I restarted the car but that is exactly how the last malfunction started.  I fully expect to have a claim on that on repair under the extended warranty.  I do not recall the exact cost to fix last time since I did not pay it but I think it was @ $700-$800 and I suspect that will be higher next time.
