Game Golf Tags on a Droid

Hi all. I'm wondering if anyone is using Game Golf with Tags on an Android. I've tried this a few times now that I have a Moto Z2 Force. I've seen others use the tags successfully, but I can't seem to get it to work. I make sure that NFC is turned on and that Tags is on in the app. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure this is probably obvious but have you checked this:

Android tag

I didn't watch that, but I did read a help page that walked through the same steps.

I have found that my phone (a Motorola X) has a fairly small sweet spot for NFC.  You can be close and the phone makes a sad little noise, basically saying "I saw something was there but didn't know what to do with it".  Then move the tag less than an inch and it reads it fine.

When you put the phone in your pocket, do you hit the power button to turn the screen off?  If so, don't. When the first hole comes up either put the phone in your pocket or hit the "half-moon" button in the center. (See attached, tiny picture I grabbed from their site.)

Also, it's a little OT but how do you like that phone?  I'm looking for a new one and was considering that one.

Sorry. I just now saw your response when I came in to post an update. The update is that I messaged Game Golf support. I'm wondering if my phone will read the tags from my old GG unit or if it requires different tags. I know they worked when a friend tried it with his Droid a few years ago.

So far I like the phone other than not being able to get this to work. I've been an iPhone guy, do it takes a lot of getting used to. As far as the sweet spot, I am trying this with the app open and taking all over the back of the phone. I looked through all the app settings to see if there is any additional permissions required to allow it to access the NFC reader, but don't see anything.

Game Golf got back to me and confirmed that the old tags should work. I googled the location of the NFC reader on the Moto Z, and noticed that it is at the very top of the phone. I started a round and was able to get a read. Thanks for the heads up @krupa!
