I don't know how or why Wilson fell off the map for a good long time. They were one of the top brands in golf, maybe even #1.

They diluted their brand by selling mass produced box sets and people stopped looking at them as a top equipment manufacturer back in the early 70s and were just poorly run for decades.

With Wilson Staff FG17s I have to choose 2-3 bigger club than my newer Taylormade M2s. But, the feel with FG17 is so phenomenal that I can deal with it.

FG17 3 iron have the same loft than M2 5 iron and saft lenght is same than M2 6 iron.

I am not a good player (hcp 18). However, FG17 are quite forgiving clubs being as blades. I just love them…

Damn, that’s quite extreme. I get that feel is a nice thing but if you’re pulling a 5i instead of a 7 or 8i, that’s gotta be a score killer. 🧐

Is it just me or does the blade shape change dramatically from 7 to 8?

I just checked my vintage set (Sam Snead blue ridges) and they mimic this. I also game 735.CMs from time to time, and not only does the cavity to blade change happen between 7 and 8, but the shape changes drastically as will.

It is no a big deal. I need my irons shorter distance than 150m
max dist:

i3 140m

i4 130m

i5 120m

i6 110m

i7 100m

i8 90m

i9 80m

pw 70m

I am not a big hitter but these blades are very consistent and accurate.  I will enjoy a lot to play with these old clubs.

    • Day 14 - Short game work today. Pitching and putting felt good, but chipping needs some attention.
    • Day 241: Just a bit of mirror work today. Checking wrist stuff in the backswing and working on lower body stuff as well.
    • Oh.. I take yips by a mile  I'm already a nervy putter and wouldn't be much skin off my back, but more importantly putting is bullshit. Not golf. Invented by some unathletic dufftard who couldn't strike a 'baw' to save their life but yet had to find relevance somehow. Plus I can always switch to sim golf full time if it gets too bad with an 8 feet gimmie setting. If I didn't have to hit another 4 footer for the rest of my life, it would be good riddance.
    • Day 9 (18 Mar 25) / Played 9 with my good friend Mike - was a solid head wind going out and just as solid tail wind coming in. With 7 club setup, made for thinking course management - to play into a good distance for the known yardages of the clubs in play….
    • Interesting points from the panel. Me - #2 would be easier to handle as I like to go less than driver on some holes, just because the approach distances suit my eye better.  So I could overcome the distance loss that less than driver presents.
