@billchao You could still shoot 100 theoretically doing this. The 6 birthday holes could be 6 10s.

I know my game can be wildly erratic, but I'm not this bad 😜

But seriously, there's a difference between what's theoretically possible and what's realistically probable. A player who is good enough to hit 6 GIR and scramble for par on 6 other holes in the same round is likely going to break 90.

And usually have a stupid hole or two offset by birdies.

That's the part of the video where I stopped watching, where the narrator said, "You'll make birdies, as we all do." Uh no, we don't all make birdies all the time. I average 3% birdies - it's not something I expect to happen during a round.

Being a guy who can now break 80 on a fairly regular basis, my goal is to make 2 pars (or better) for every bogey (or worse). Staying this course gets me to a decent 78.

Well, @golfsidekick, what do you think of the feedback you received here, and what people actually had to say?

Or were you just kinda spamming your video here all along?

Feedback was so-so. I thank you all from the heart of my bottom.

That's it? You're not going to address some of the points people brought up as flaws to your system?

Wow. The heart of your bottom (and I know that's a Faldo thing, but really, thank you from your butt?)

Suffice to say you’ve made no friends with this stunt.

Its what you deserved with that vid of yours. Think the input you got from @iacas as the first responder nailed it. The 6-6-6 concept is crap, like the way your thanking is.

Wow, someone can't take criticism.

@golfsidekick You post your ridiculous video on here and then get butt hurt when someone points out its obvious flaws. It will never work in the real world. One thing I have always liked about this site is the fact that it's real. There's no bullshit here, no one is going to blow smoke up your ass. You can take the information on here and use it to make your golf game better. If you post something on here that is not factually accurate you better be ready to get blowback.

Why would you want it any other way?

I don't think about stuff like this at any point in any round. I just think about executing the next shot (which, of course, on certain holes, may depend on where I want to be for the shot after the current one).

The only time I break with the above thought process is in match play, and not often even then.

Also, nice hat, bro.

I agree. I don’t get too caught up in thinking about 6 of these and 6 of these..... I do find myself comparing my score to par at a specific hole with other days. For instance at my home course I found myself starting very slow. 1-3 are somewhat difficult opening holes. I’m honestly happy with anything better than +3 after 3. I actually shot 78 earlier this year opening bogey/par/double. Monday I was even through 3 going bogey/bird/par and the conference was very high. Played the front at 38 +2. Missed short par save putts at 1/6 plus 3 putted 8. I was a couple putts from -1. Point is that I will seldom look at at the way the post suggests as you may hit a point where you feel like you can take the foot off the gas.

Hmm... my last round, 7 GIR and I scrambled three times for par (two up-and-downs and a chip-in birdie).  Shot an 83.  Even if I convert three of my not-up-and-down to pars, I'm not under 80, even with an extra GIR thrown in.  Must be something else.

I suspect attempting the no-sixes challenge more seriously is a better path to success than the video spammed in this thread.

Had my best chance to break 80 today my best ever a couple of 83's started with a brilliant 38 over the front 9 (including a penalty stroke)

was super confident going to the back 9 finally I thought her was my chance to break my long waited for 83 low!!....but no i counted up my front 9 and was thinking how great I was going bah bah stupid boy getting too confident in my chances to break 80 and win the club comp etc

And in turn, thinned my way to my worse 9 in many many years with a 56

Just Gutted and I just couldn't get mentally back on track with a couple of 8's to start the back 9 I was pissed not till the very last hole I pulled my head in with a par

I know the new guys playing with me were gutted for me as well as they could see how unhappy I was when I just thinned the ball off the tee 20 meters.. confidence just has gone for 8 of 9 holes

Never again will I count my card when I'm playing so well and start thinking ahead I just completely lost my head ... the screwed up thing was just two days before I did a practice round where I hit a 51 then 40 back nine pretty much the dead opposite

From this video, a "stress free" sub-70 round:

Yep. I sure as heck know getting up and down 10 times out of 10 is as stress free as it gets, especially from 6300 yards…

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
