I went to the driving range yesterday.   A guy shows up, gets balls, hits a few, then turns on his cell phone to play his favorite music, loud enough to be hear several spots away.  I went over and briefly noted that it's disturbing me (and others who wouldn't say anything).  He turned it off.

Upon reflection, it's not exactly what he did that bothered me.  It was his self absorbed attitude that he should be able to do anything regardless of others.  Sadly, I find this more prevalent by the day.    Simple common courtesy seems to be absent.  Hummm.... maybe a brass band playing next to the 18th at the Masters is in the future?

This past weekend, I was on an empty course, and three holes away is a fivesome blaring good old southern rock.  While I do enjoy the genre, the volume was a bit much.

So I asked them to lower the volume.  And by ask, I mean I yelled "turn that shit off, no one wants to hear it!"

They complied.

Always remember, the same country that invented golf and called it a game, invented bag pipes and called it music.

I usually walk 3 rounds during the weekdays by myself, it’s nice to have music. When I do ride with other players, I always ask if they would like music and usually just loud enough to hear it on my cart. As far as noise or talking, I could care less, it doesn’t bother me. My wife says I’m  good at not listening....😎 love the game, gotta have respect for others. 5 pitch marks per green.

I don't get the whole music thing anyway.... It doesn't bother me, but I know it bothers some. So why would you blast it on a course?

I have a buddy that likes to play music in the cart. Again, I don't really care all that much -but- I just know that there are guys out there with their blood boiling.

I've never really thought about music on the driving range but, I suppose I feel the same way.

I get pretty annoyed by bad manners and poor etiquette    They have no place on the course where courtesy and decency should count.  Just learning?  Bad player?  Just have trouble getting around?  That's OK, everybody has to learn at some point, we all hit bad shots, and some of us are just slower or faster than others.... just remember there are other people using the course and displaying good manners, proper etiquette and respect for other golfers will gain you a lot of goodwill in the future.  Taking the initiative by offering to let faster players play through when warranted will show you understand etiquette and gain you respect from your fellow players.  And treating people decently is a given, both on and off the course.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
