When you get a new club(s), what do you do with the old one(s)?

  1. 1. If you get a new club or clubs, what do you do with your old ones?

    • Trade them in on the new ones. Makes the cost of new shiny things a lot easier to justify.

    • Sell them on ebay or other sales site. No reason they shouldn't get a new life in somebody else's hands.

    • Keep them, you never know when you may want to go back to an old flame.

    • Donate them to a charity. Two words "Tax Write Off"

    • I only replace clubs which I've snapped over me knee.

Not got enough to have started to sell, but one thing I have learned is not to give up on a new club too quickly.

I've made a few purchases that haven't seemed to initially work out (5 hybrid, Mini driver, 5 wood) which have at times cycled out of the bag, only to come back in and later do the business. My mini-driver was the best club in my bag this spring, and my 5 hybrid has been invaluable to me the last few months while my iron game has been off - both clubs I'd initially wrote off as bad purchases.

In future, I'll probably sell when I get a like-for-like replacement, but hang onto clubs that have something different about them.

Generally, at least lately, I have traded several in. I have accumulated too much over the last couple of years and needed to thin the stockpile. I am holding on to my Titleist 915D2 for now, but the TS2 is getting about as reliable, so I may trade it or pass it down to my son. Or it may just hang around as a safety. I have a 52* Vokey that may get traded for something, but I really don't need anything else right now.
