Any other food or drink choices that stood out?

As I'm sure you know, the pigskin pickin meal Friday night was very solid and they gave you huge portions.

We found a new favorite cocktail too after talking to some other golfers called a Transfusion, if I remember right, it consisted of vodka, grapefuit juice, grape juice, and ginger ale, it was delicious. They didn't skimp out on the pours at Talamore and Mid South too.

Friday after the pigskin dinner we went over to Southern Pines Brewing for a while for some beers and ended up getting some late night tacos from the food truck that was there called California Taco, he had some great chorizo and a really spicy red salsa too.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, they always do a great job with the BBQ for those.  But I absolutely HAVE to correct your wording.  In Carolina (that OTHER state is South Carolina) they have "pig pickins".  They're traditionally done with whole hogs, but I know that at Talamore they're usually done with butts (as shoulders are called).  The good ones serve some of the crackly skin, which is a great contrast to the tender meat, but its not pigskin pickin.  Its OK, though, I was a Yankee for a while once.

I haven't been to Southern Pines Brewing, its on my list for next time, nice to hear about the taco truck.

Just over 5 weeks before our group gets there.

And THAT one really IS a whole hog.  Every time I've been around, including the Newport Cup, they had done shoulders.

Have fun!

Dang, we just scheduled a visit for 8/13-8/19, and remembered your post.  Looks like we're just going to miss you.

Dang it right Dave. Can't you just stay one more day. 😉

I can't remember which unit is yours but I think one of our groups might be staying in it. So then you have to get out...lol.

Would have been great seeing my yellow ball challenge partner.

We're in 1625, upstairs across from the red team's unit.  I don't think anyone is scheduled to be in there the weekend after we we leave, but I could be wrong.

We actually were booked pretty solid, and asked if it was possible to move someone around without splitting up larger groups.  I'm just happy they could make it work for us, couldn't be picky about the weekend.
