I read a quote from Payne Stewart yesterday "A bad attitude is worse than a bad swing."
I liked it. What's your favorite golf quote?

Bobby Jones: Competitive golf is played mainly on a five-and-a-half-inch course, the space between your ears.”

This is funny, because both of the two quotes listed so far aren't really true.

Someone with a bad attitude and a great golf swing is going to produce better scores than someone with a great attitude but a horrible golf swing.

People make it on the PGA tour because of their physical skills, not because of their mental skills.

Here's 16 pages about the mental game and it's relative lack of importance

That's funny. I took the quote to mean something completely different. I wasn't thinking of it as how to shoot the lowest score. I was thinking of it as who would Payne rather spend time with? Or would who Payne rather have in his foursome? In my imagination Payne doesn't want to spend time with either, but somebody with a bad attitude would be WORSE than somebody with a bad golf swing. Like maybe Payne can help the person with the bad swing, but there's nothing he can do for the person with the bad attitude.

"Grow teeth, baby!"

Shouted by an unknown gentleman I joined mid-round decades ago after hitting his approach to the green.

I've always like Lee Trevino's quote

“You don’t know what pressure is until you play for five bucks with only two bucks in your pocket"

There should also be a quote about the walk of shame one makes on their way to an ATM after a round.

I have probably posted this before, but it's still funny.

Golfer to Caddy: "can I get there with my 7 iron"?

Caddy to Golfer: "Sure you can....eventually".

Little gust from the Gods cost me.

There's a glitch in my swing.

"He's playing so bad he had to regrip his ball retriever"

One of my best if I do say so myself.

It’s funny you’d say this and then write

this...........

There are tons of extremely talented golfers that don’t make it due to folding under pressure and that is 100% mental.

I don't think there are as many as you think, but this isn't the topic for it.

Let's stick to some golf quotes, not debating topics with several topics already dedicated to their discussion.

I read it from Lewis Grizzard, but he probably modified it from somewhere else:

Playing St Andrews badly, and missing a shot with a club the caddie suggested, the player said,

"You must be the worst caddie in the world!"

To which the caddie responded,

"That sir, would be to great a coincidence!"

Not exactly favorites, but used often:

Better lucky than good.

I saw one from Tiger Woods that kink of made me giggle.

"Achievements on the golf course are not what matters, decency and honesty are what matter."

Kind of ironic in light of what happened with Tiger.

I have absolutely no idea where I heard this, but it definitely is not mine.

"There are two parts to golf. One part is fun. The other is putting."

Can anyone places this for me?
