Playing Trends vs Regular Handicap

I play with a group of guys every Friday and Saturday at my local club.  I am a 7, other guys are 2, 11 and 8.  The 2 and the 11 want to play trends every round instead of using our regular handicaps.  They state if will more accurately reflect our handicaps and make our matches more equitable.  I am not sure that I agree.  The 2 and the 11 are the ones with the most fluctuating handicaps and they are the ones wanting to change.  Am I missing something?

I say go for it.

In 2020 there won’t be any trends… because your handicap index will be calculated daily.

We run 14 handicapped tournaments a year.  We used the "Trend Index" for many years until we switched to a "Tournament Only" index.  I believe a "Trend Index" more accurately reflects a player's most recent play.
