Do you draw a line around your ball?

  1. 1. How do you line up your putt before hitting it.

    • Draw a line around your ball, and line up that line on the intended path of the ball.

    • Use the ball manufacturer's logo (or something else already provided on the ball) to line up the ball before putting.
      2
    • Randomly place the ball, no line, no logo just what ever

    • Intentionally set up the ball with the fewest logos pointing up at you, so you see a "clear" area of the ball when putting.

Was this test at Golf Evolution? If so, it just validates it even more since that is an artificial putting green.

Almost all of them have been there, yes. It's tough to see the laser outside.

In the article Tiger explains that when putting you have to worry about hitting the right speed and on the correct line.

That's true if you're capable of lining the ball up where you think you're lining it up (and where you want to aim). This is something most people can not do, however.

This video is kinda funny for two reasons. First, I love Rick Shiels channel and he has great content.

Having said that I find it kinda funny that IMO he repairs his pitch mark wrong.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but he lines up the line on his ball with his intended line, but actually hits the ball above the intended line. The ball goes in, but it looks like it might not have gone in if he would have actually hit his intended line.

So does lining up the ball help him???  What do you think?

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Forgot to vote on this earlier,  but I voted random for me. I typically just use aim point to get my line and then address the ball as it lies (unless I had to clean mud off of it or something). I am a 20 handicap that has been putting like a 10-12 handicap (on average) recently per GG so I am not overly concerned that I am not getting the ball on line. I only push short putts for birdie...😁

I totally misread this subject line in  that I first thought it described drawing a line around your ball in a sand bunker which I have done IN PRACTICE. As for alignment aid - no.

Well, looks like he repaired it just like Pros do......

I was hoping this was a mockery of things pros do wrong (like using lines, and how they repair ball marks, etc).  But he's serious.....

as for the gimmick of "this is what the Pros do"....meh, it's just a putting lesson.  The good stuff applies whether pros do them or not.  Makes me think of the Golf Channel McLessons "Hit it like (name)"
