Help Me Read My Club Champion Fitting!

So I recently got my club champion fitting and it was great... I can’t afford that sticker price though.

as I’m sourcing the equipment I’m planning on getting the shaft for my hybrid from golfworks

The redesigned Vista PRO Hybrids benefits from Tour proven Fujikura technologies CAGE and Maximum...

Since they want me to take off .5 from the tip and I was fitted for a playing length of 39.75” what length should I get the shaft cut down to in order to fit into the rogue hybrid?

Or should I just have whoever is putting this together for me cut it down? (I would prefer to have it just done already)

i was also a bit confused from the length EOD line.... what does EOD stand for !?!

Thanks in advance!

I am no clubfitter and hence am no expert at these things; the suggestion to take 1/2" off the tip is to stiffen the shaft a bit, probably more for spin reasons as opposed to launch or feel.  So therefore, you would cut 1/2" off the tip, then assemble the head onto the shaft, and then cut to the 39.75" length from the butt end (which would be 39.50" allowing for the .25" when you install the grip, subject to my guess about EOD below.

Because of all that, if you wanted the shaft to be cut exactly to the length you would need, and that the tip end of the shaft is not all the way down to the level of the sole of the club (unless it is a bore through), you would need to know the distance between the bottom of the hosel neck and the sole of the club.

My advice on that is to cut 1/2" off the tip, and then cut the butt for length when assembling the club.  That way, you will always get it right.

Re EOD, I have no idea what that means other than maybe End Of Dowel, which could mean length of club to end of shaft without grip. If I am right, then it looks like you were fitted for standard length.

I am sure that others will chime in as to what it means,

@Putmedownfor10,  Welcome to TST.   We're glad you've decided to join.   I'm sure an expert will be along in a little while, there are plenty on site.

I'm glad you've posted and asked the question.   I have the same question and just failed to ask.   I too was fitted at Club Champion recently and the experience was fantastic but the pricing was a shock..

Don't be a stranger.

Why don't you just call Club Champions, and ask them what EOD stands for? For what their fittings cost, I sure wouldn't be shy to ask for an explaination.

Agree with the above comments about just let the club maker assemble and do all the trimming. Always want to butt trim after you epoxy. Not sure about that EOD and if that is taking a final grip on measurement or not. Hard to say for sure. Looks like they fitted you at 1/2 inch under standard. And the hybrid at 3/4 under standard. A 1/4 inch one way or the other won't change much in the end but I would either check with them or just get the club maker to take a quick measurement.

I am more surprised about how they recommend Pureing everything on that sheet! Those guys are really trying to nickel and dime you. Those Aerotechs are great shafts and don't need it, nor does the Fuji hybrid shaft.

I believe they recommend Pureing on every club they make...at $30 / shaft that is quite a profit.

Thanks for all your input guys! I’m actually contacting my CC rep later on this week so I’ll let you guys know what EOD actually means

Also Im planning to just order that fuji shaft and have them cut the .5 inch off the tip leaving the rest for the club builder to cut off so it can be to spec

I got a nice rogue hybrid on the callaway pre owned site for $100 so with the cost of buying and installing the shaft I figure that’s a decent amount of savings compared to the 425.72 CC quoted me at for that club

I’m tempted to try to install it myself but I’ll experiment with some cheap clubs first

Thanks for all your responses

They charge $30 per club??? Wow. I don't think I appreciated how much of a snake oil salesman they are.

and that's just the beginning.   I just got a Golfworks catalog and see the price of the Aerotech Steelfiber fc70 Parallel F3 shafts are almost half what I paid.

I'm not unhappy with my clubs and realize that I paid too much but damn...

Is that just standard depreciation or wtf? I thought CC brags about not having any bias and don’t upcharge their stuff and you’ll pay the same price as you would at a golf retail store? That seems pretty ridiculous they charged you so much more for what the shafts go for on the retail market.

If I showed the price list of my clubs everyone would just freak out.   I knew CC was more expensive than the other local fitters which by the way they are in the top 100, but I didn't realize how much more expensive.

The issue I experienced was they did a great job and fit me with the best possible combination of club and shaft.   There was no alternative or cheaper option offered.   Was I happy, yes.   I am really happy with my clubs but if I wasn't in the situation where I am financially, there is no way that I'd have paid this much when there are other options available at other fitters.

EOD usually means "end of day" so maybe they're saying that's the fully built club length, not just the shaft length (uninstalled, no grip, whatever).

Okay, I am pretty sure that can't be true and he just doesn't know. It does prove we shouldn't care.
