The Newport Cups I've been lucky enough to play in are probably the best experiences I've ever had within the great world of golf.  Meeting new friends, competing with (and against) those friends, it was amazing.  Yeah, we got some really nice "stuff" too, but the people really make the event.

Sadly, I believe I have a conflict for that weekend, my niece will be getting married in Rhode Island.  I'll have to double check with the adult schedule-keeper in my family.

Hey, I'm in that range!  Now to see if I can continue it, and if I can make it.  I might be closing on a house the next week ... but if I qualify, it might be worth it.

Your niece could potentially get married multiple times, but the 2019 Newport Cup will only ever happen once.

If true, we may need to contact the New York Times for the earth shattering news this represents for the red team. This means we have a fighting chance!

It's like if Tom Brady was injured before Super Bowl Sunday. Now all we need is a family member in @jsgolfers family to get married and we might win one of these darn things.

The 2019 Newport Cup will be held at The Arroyo Club on October 24, 25, and 26th (Thu, Fri, Sat), 2019 in/near Las Vegas, Nevada.

The cost will be $795, and we will have chosen all teams by mid-August.

I played it about two months ago. It's in great shape and a good mix of challenging, fair and getable holes.

Rough was really thick so keep it in the fairway!

      Hitting some good shots on my golf trip. It's good I can tell when I hit better shots the way I want to swing the ball versus when I use an older swing. Shockingly, the short game has been at worst, not harmful to my game. I am using similar feels to the full swing, in that I try to get my hands down. I've been nipping the ball clean off the turf.

      I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!
