  1. Photos: Famed Lido Golf Club to be reincarnated at Sand Valley Sand Valley in Wisconsin, already home to two of the top Golfweek’s Best Modern Courses in the United States, has big plans for a third 18. And while it will be new, this track by Tom Doak won’t be… A guy on GCA has been digitally re-creating the course, and I've heard they're going to use his map to convert it to a topo-map with 1' increments. Pretty amazing. LOTS of pictures in that article that I encourage you to check out.

  2. If you haven't watched this video before, I would recommend it for you and your friend. Link at bottom. As far as the answer to your 2 questions, 1) You friend is equally wrong and right. If you are talking about a Taylormade driver, then any change you make to the hosel will increase the lie angle. Doesn't matter if you loft up or down. If you are talking about a Ping, then its the opposite and any change to the hosel will flatten the lie. Again doesn't matter whether you loft up or down. You can't make a blanket statement about adjustable hosels because it will depend on the s

  3. Doesn’t matter how far from the inside you swing. If your clubface is open to the path the ball will fade. I can start a ball 12° right of my target and fade it. Posting your swing here is kind of similar to being in the gym in that it’s something people can be self conscious about doing the first time. Then once you do it you realize nobody actually cares about the things you’re worried about and the community is mostly there minding their own business. The few people you end up interacting with are genuinely happy that you’re part of something they’re also a part of and are trying to

  4. Notice the copious amount of impact marks on that thing. It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin...I use this because I can hit it multiple times without needing to readjust it.

  7. I played Shingle Creek today, as noted by @DaveP043, this is not a demanding course off the tee by any stretch, there was lots of water around but unless you were way offline, it didn’t really come into play. Conditions were great, greens rolled very well (not too fast). There are better courses in the area for the price, but we went out before our tee time and got done in about 3.5 hours, so was nice and ther weather was 70, great day on the course with my Dad.

  8. Why fight your natural swing? Plenty of PGA tour players (DJ, JT, etc) play a fade as their stock shot and only deviate when absolutely necessary. How do you expect random strangers on the internet to help fix your swing when we have no idea what the swing looks like? Clearly there is an issue with your swing that is not giving you the consistency and desired ball flight you want to see, I highly recommend finding an instructor or starting a swing thread on this site if you want anyone to give you any substantial advice.

  9. Far too late for that. The only hate more fierce than I have for it, is the hate that it has for me. If I weren't such a law-abiding person, I'd have murdered the bastard by now.

  10. On number 1, yes slightly, but because you will set up with the face aligned, it will be just a little flat or steep. The loft will be the new loft. It won’t be open or closed because you adjust the face angle to target with your set up. On 2, it depends on where the weight is the the two drivers. If the face angle is the same, and dynamic loft is the same at impact, then the CoG is what may contribute to differences in the spin. This thread went into a lot of detail.

  11. I agree, 10 years is a good long time. I noticed in the original press release that he wasn't "cancelled", just not renewed. And his remarks don't make it sound like he's particularly upset. I've enjoyed the shows, I like Feherty, but I'm not upset that he won't be making any more of his shows.

  14. I agree completely. Two reasons. First, when you've learned Aimpoint Express, you've learned to collect the information presented in those books, for every single golf course you'll ever play in your life. No need to buy another greens book, ever. Second reason, once you have the book, you still have to learn how to turn the arrows and numbers into an actual read. Yeah, you'll know the putt goes left, but you need to learn how to estimate how FAR left it will go. Aimpoint Express teaches you not just how to collect the data, but how to actually use the data to determine your start line.

  15. I've been buying the Strackaline combo books. The price of yardage/green book combo is $125, and yardage only is $29-$47. A guy on Youtube was saying you should only buy the yardage book, and spend the $78-$96 you save on learning Aimpoint. Any thoughts?

  16. Well....he made an idiotic comment to himself and the whole world heard it. He is gonna pay for it. But at the end of the day, we have all made really stupid decisions and really bad choices that didn't get broadcast on the Golf Channel. Hopefully he will learn something from this and it will make him a better person. Or it won't. Either way he is going to wake up tomorrow and be a major champion and a millionaire. Same as Patrick Reid. Same as Tiger Woods. P.S. I am a middle school teacher, and the word Justin Thomas used is still used often in this school environment. It hasn't

  17. I am just guessing, but it seems pretty likely that your swing is NOT the worst anyone has seen. We all play golf, we all see other swings, and trust me, there are lots of ugly swings out there. But for anyone to give you real advice without seeing your swing is really unlikely to be useful. There are some very knowledgeable people here, who will be able to evaluate your swing, and provide really useful advice as to what to change, and how to do it. The general procedure is to determine the single most important change to make, and to provide you with drills or feels or other measures to h

  19. Try not to move onto the next piece until you feel confident you have the current piece set. You’ve made a lot of progress and you want to keep that. You can dabble a bit, but keep the focus. I do the drill you we doing above. One thing it would add is to get your hands deeper into your thigh (more toward target) when the shaft is parallel to the ground, A6. Basically, more wrist hinge. And do it slower. I tend to rush and it took a long time for me to slow things down. Even now, I can speed up and not notice until I see the film.

  21. 73 (+2) today in breezy and cool conditions. Had a few bad swings but overall pretty happy with how I played. Hit 14 greens...made a couple birdies but left a couple out there. Encouraged that the SuperSpeed work I've done has been positive. Can tell the swing faster but I don't feel out of control. Only a couple bad drives but neither cost me very much...

  22. Recently played the Marina Vallarta Golf Club in Puerto Vallarta. It was just under 100 USD for club and 18 using the Golfnow hot deals. During the round I saw one other golfer and lots of crocodiles. Had lunch afterward and food was good. Grass was like a turf mat which made it easy to control the ball. Really friendly place and I recommend.

  25. 1/18/21 - found a little drill to help sync my hips & Arms. Trying to bring right elbow to right hip after little left lateral hip bump. Not sure if this is the right thing for me to be working on, but my swing feels faster. And I think there is less Over-the-top with it

  26. We're back, and I thought I'd add a few comments on the places we played. I want to thank everyone who posted suggestions throughout the life of this thread, it was very helpful. I'll arrange these comments from least favorite to most favorite. Mission Inn - Las Colinas. Our first day of golf, the layout is pretty decent, with small greens and some really narrow driving areas. There's a bit of vertical relief as well. But the course was in so-so condition, thin grass in the fairways, and some patchy areas (repaired with plugs and still healing) on the greens. Falcon's Fire. A n

    • Played Pinehurst #4 today.  Wet fairways, but playable.  39/38, 77.  Struck the ball really well, 12 fairways, 11 GIR’s.  16 putts a side.  No birdies! Had many chances, several inside 8 feet!  I had fun!  My 34th round of the year.  I’m taking tomorrow off!
    • The Taconic Pkwy in NY has some tortuous uphill and downhill turns although not a local street, people are passing each other on a road made for 1930s jalopies (I kid you not, the parkway was built in the 20s). It's incidents like these that make me think I was crazy for passing people at 75 mph on one of these turns. I'm going to take those turns a little slower now.
    • I'm sure it's doable.  If it's not already in effect in some places. My old TomTom informed me of radar traps, being over the speed limit, and red light cameras.
    • Have not gone into this thread except initially and now, so I don't know the content but has anybody wondered if he was on the phone ?  Ima tell you, before I banned myself from phone usage in most situations while driving, talking on the phone was about as distracting as anything;  like blowing thru a stoplight without a clue in the world.
