  1. I posted this in the Jack vs Tiger thread, but it probably belongs here, if it hasn't already been discussed.

  3. the "N" word is not a cuss word. The word JT used is not a cuss word. They are words that are specifically used towards specific groups of society in a derogatory way. I think most people understand social situation in that there are words you should not say and situations were certain other words you should not say at all depending on who you are or what your background is. Example, I cut down my cursing by 95% when I am in front of family, or when I am at my job, or when I am around my coworkers. There are words that do not exists in my vocabulary because I didn't grow up hearing

  4. Yesterday at the range I was chit-chatting with a group of gentlemen and one of them mocked my cart bag. Pointing at my bright blue Sun Mountain C-130 cart bag and saying. "You can tell he doesn't ever walk the course." I said "Au contraire mon frère". While it's true I don't lug that bag around the course. I do prefer to walk and only in the last couple of years switched to using a ClicGear 3.5+. ... Also bright blue. So what's the point to my little story? ... There are three. I prefer to walk. I don't think it improves or hurts my score at all. I just like walking the course.

  5. This is not a video you'll want to watch. It's 11 minutes long because there's a LOT of slow-motion parts with multiple swings with stuff in between. I was primarily working on A1-A3 here. This was early in a long (for me) session today. I noticed in this video that I could let my right elbow bend a little bit sooner, so I spent some of the rest of the session letting that happen. I'll be on to A3-A5 here very soon. The left knee could extend just a tiny bit sooner. 🙂 (That's for later. Much later.) I'm pretty happy with the path on these, even though I'm no

  6. Some interesting history here. Kirk Currie putter A Kirk Currie putter is virtually a thing of legend nowadays. Kirk is a putter designer with over 20 yrs' experience designing for top manufacturers and... Would not have known about him without seeing this post.

  7. Finally have a video on YouTube that I can share. As you can tell from the name of the video, I was trying to achieve a little more of a "Jim Furyk Feeling" on this swing - dorsiflexion of the left wrist on the takeaway (still getting the hands deep), no #3, then lots of #3 from about P3.75 to P4.25... then the follow through is just holding the wedge into a follow through, but frankly, I wasn't that worried about anything after P7. Full speed, just 300 FPS. I'm happy with what I'm working on, but feel free to ask any questions you might have.

  10. 1/24/21 - Good: went to course and did some chipping and putting. Once on the putting greens, I continued to work on my pendulums. Not all my groupings were as good, but this was from 50ft. One was in the cup: I also realize that we don’t get 9 putts at a hole when playing, but I’m encouraged by the consistency of my putting pendulum and rhythm leading to increased reproducibility of my putts. Bad: my putting inside 10ft was somewhere around 30-40%. I need to work on my Bead

  11. Bought a new phone and it has super slow motion and this may be a game changer it allows me to see so much more in my swing. That said I think this looks pretty damn good aside from the fact I cannot stop playing the ball too far back in my stance.

  12. Been a while since I last posted an update. Full swing is feeling good. Right now, I am working on keeping my right hand stronger as it tends to get weaker if I stop paying attention. Then two main thoughts are hands low (which also applies to impact) and soft, straight trail arm. For me, that challenge helped quiet my lower body on the back swing, and I feel that I load better. If it gets away from me, I miss right. When I’m feeling good, I hit a very straight ball. One additional thought with long irons is to feel like I’m swinging up, as it helps shallow the club (took really big divot

  14. I went out and played 9 holes yesterday. 32 and sunny, not too bad, but definitely needed the handwarmers. My tee shots were pretty nice, 4 of 6 over 250 and max of 280 with driver. Hooked one into the trees and sliced one about 230. May have been getting some extra with the bounces and roll out, since the ground was still frozen underneath. Anyway, my swing felt strong and I think being on this protocol has helped.

  15. I don't think we are putting golfers in a different category. At least speaking for myself. I am not offended if golfers use profanity. Similarly, I'm not offended by any other athletes using profanity either. I do think the television should "bleep it" though. There are many reasons for that. The thing we are putting in a different category is the specific word that JT chose.

  17. Its interesting that at some of the more exclusive clubs in the US, trolleys are looked down on. Somehow they're not "proper golf". But go to the most exclusive clubs in Scotland, and the vast majority of the members are using trolleys, and by now a large percentage of them are using the motorized variety.

  18. Yah, I walk with Clicgear push cart too. Few weeks ago I walked with bag on my back having forgotten to bring the cart. I managed ok but my poor ankle (recovering from an injury) was threatening to call social services on me by the time I got to the 16th hole. But I finished. Hopefully I will be close to 100 percent by summer. I think the modern push cart is one of the most important products to have come out in the last 20 years. It has opened up a great venue for exercise without breaking backs (literally). Our course is full of members who walk 9 or 18 with one 4-5 times a week.

  21. Water?! According to tournaments on TV they don't call it water anymore. It's a "penalty area". When I become dehydrated I always go for a glass of penalty area.

  23. As far as profanity goes, I don't care at all if pros swear or otherwise vocally vent their frustration. That said, the issue here is less about profanity in general and more about the specific word used. There are definitely a lot of better words and choice phrases Justin Thomas could have used. Maybe next time do a throwback to an old classic that was much less controversial instead.

  24. If you haven't watched this video before, I would recommend it for you and your friend. Link at bottom. As far as the answer to your 2 questions, 1) You friend is equally wrong and right. If you are talking about a Taylormade driver, then any change you make to the hosel will increase the lie angle. Doesn't matter if you loft up or down. If you are talking about a Ping, then its the opposite and any change to the hosel will flatten the lie. Again doesn't matter whether you loft up or down. You can't make a blanket statement about adjustable hosels because it will depend on the s

  25. Well....he made an idiotic comment to himself and the whole world heard it. He is gonna pay for it. But at the end of the day, we have all made really stupid decisions and really bad choices that didn't get broadcast on the Golf Channel. Hopefully he will learn something from this and it will make him a better person. Or it won't. Either way he is going to wake up tomorrow and be a major champion and a millionaire. Same as Patrick Reid. Same as Tiger Woods. P.S. I am a middle school teacher, and the word Justin Thomas used is still used often in this school environment. It hasn't

  27. We all walk in Ireland, it is never too hot, quite the opposite really. I use a push cart, I like the extra calorie burn, I’m trying to get lean at the moment and two rounds a week burns an extra 2-3000 calories so it has added benefits

  28. Push cart mafia for life. Seriously no reason to carry unless the course is abnormally hilly (even then I still push) or you want the extra workout, especially with picking it up and putting it down with each shot.

  29. I think many here would have an apoplectic seizure if they were at my work any time all the people were collected in the barn. Red, Black, white, brown, yellow, straight or not. Everything is fair game from ethnicity to sexual orientation. And we all love each other like family, as is pretty much the norm in difficult, hazardous occupations. This bleeding heart taking offense at every perceived slight is nonsense. People need to quit looking for reasons to whine they are offended.

    • yeah, this "carpet" runs around 11 in one direction and 10 in the opposite, so it's faster than most greens I play on, but I'm just working on the consistency of my motion so it works. It's definitely nice to have
    • Bulking up doesn't necessarily lead to lack of flexibility or inability to hit the golf ball. Even when people complained about Tiger bulking up, he was no where near as big as professional body builders and didn't inhibit his golf swing.  I think people would have to go really far with bulking up before it becomes a detriment to their ability to swing a golf club.
    • Day 58 (Mar 05 2021) - 1-2-3 drill with putter this morning.  1 pace from cup - single ball, make it into the putting green cup and move to 2 paces out, now I have to make 2 balls in a row before moving to 3 paces out and of course 3 balls have to be made before I get to 4 paces which for my short stride is the limit of the green.  Focused on keeping head still and not "looking" - target point a spot on the mat about 18" in front of the ball.  Followed this up with going with 8 balls in a row from each position before moving to the next (why 8 - its all the "real" golf balls I have in the house, may scarf another 4 from the used ball pile in the shop to give an even dozen to work with).   Makes me jealous that the hall at the house (which is where I work as well) is not fully carpeted as it is about the same length.  Then again - the hardwood floor can offer challenges when putting with the plastic ball - like putting on ice.....
    • Basically golf requires you to be flexible and strong, not necessarily bulked up. Rory or DJ have the ideal build for golf
