  1. Bear with me here because this posts rambles a bit since I am a bit excited. Ever have one of those days where everything just clicked? yea, me neither until today. Played my home course where the best previous score I have carded was a 43. Course isn't long coming in at only 2824 yds. Total of 12 putts really helped, as did some really nice drives. Chipping was so-so & I had 4 too many of those. Wind was blowing at 15 mph & helped me on a couple shots & hurt me on others. Freaky stuff was nailing my 3w straight down 247 yd 5th hole & putting it 17 yds from the center of the green....I measured it out to be sure. 2 holes later I used 4 iron & with the breeze at my back the ball finally stopped...after about 20 yds of roll 250 yds from the tee. That's 230 yds with a damn 4 iron??? I don't think I have ever hit an iron shot that felt so crisp & dead on. Best previous distance with that club is somewhere in the 190 range. Finally last hole is a short par 5 at 460 yds, I blasted my driver shot into a slight headwind & 245 yds later the ball finally landed. Sure some folks will scoff at 245 but I am happy with it. This was my hole by hole breakdown +1 par +1 par birdie par par +1 +1
  2. Haven't found any Pro V1's at the range...but have a fair number found on the course. Titelist NXT's I do get at the range as well as Callaway Warbirds & HX's, also a lot of Nikes but I don't care for those balls & just wack them back into the range.
  3. I recommend the round white ones with dimples Seriously I don't know, my swing speed isn't a whole lot higher, 90 mph & I have been using the Precept Laddie X as well as the Bridgestone E-6 & the Topflite D2's, both feel & straight. Have really taken a liking to both the Precepts & the Bridgestones, only negative towards the Bridgestones for me is price, they cost about $25 a dozen whereas I am getting the precepts for $20 for 2 dozen.
  4. Played 18 at Cold Water Canyon, par is 69 & I shot an 89. Front half is our typical Wisconsin forest type course with some very narrow fairways, blind uphill shots, etc. I didn't play all that well & squeeked out a 49, but then came the back 9 which is styled after a Scottish links course. Par is 34 for the back 9 & I carded a decent 40. Putting was pretty good on the back with 14 total vs 17 on the front. Best part was my chipping though, only had 1 hole where I had to chip twice & that's when I get stuck in a very loose sand trap. Overall I am pleased with the rd but still need to eliminate the doubles that I had on the front.
  5. For me it's Natalie all the way. I love the full sized version of Erik's avatar.
  6. Played 2 different 9 hole courses today, shot a 48 on The Pines course at Christmas mountain. Slope is 128 from the gold tee's which I played & that's the best I have done at that high of a slope rating. Lot of uphill shots made for a very challenging 9. Even their driving range is uphill, it's on 1 of the ski hills, hit a bucket on that before I played. The I played an easy 9 at Fairfield hills, it's a nice little par 30 course that isn't tough but it's fun. Managed a 38 which I am semi ok with, had 2 too many chips but overall my short game today on both courses was vastly improved over what I have had the last few outings. Lastly I hit another bucket of balls after that final rd, not sure I should have done that as about halfway thru the bucket I was beat to heck, couldn't hardly swing my arms anymore. Playing 18 at Chula Vistas "Cold Water Canyon" tomorrow. Front half is supposed to be our standard course cut out of the forest & the back 9 is a Scottish links style. Should be some great fun.
  7. Played 18 yesterday & struggled to shoot a 94, last week on the same course I had an 85. Couldn't chip at all, had 3 holes in a row where it took me 3 short chips to get on the green, one of those holes was in some ultra loose sand & I just spaced out. Really sucks that 3 holes accounted for 6 shots that I shouldn't have made but did. Today I played 9 with a work partner on a course that's on the side of a mountain & getting the ball to actually sit on the fairways & not roll down is not easy. Best previous score at this course was a 50, I had a 48 today with 1 birdie. Nailed the par 3 9th hole with my 8 iron & the ball 1 hopped on the green about 3' in front of the pin & rolled just missing the cup by inches. it ended up being about a 7' birdie attempt & for once I didn't choke & sank the putt.
  8. Depends on the brand, sometimes it's a 13w but more often than not 14.
  9. On the end of a lot of negativity?? Such as what other than the opinions you begged us for?? You really need to get over the fact that the people have spoken & declared the so called paint jobs ugly as sin.
  10. Obviously your new driver is no good, I will give you $60 for it that way you can pick up 2 new drivers at WalMart as well as some tee's.
  11. 1 pair of Nike SP-7's.

    Dropping Flag

I do the exact same thing. Only difference is when I play by myself I don't even bother with taking the flag out.
  13. Shot a 43 on my home course, best score there so far. Had 4 pars which really saved me since I had a really ugly triple bogey on the long par 3. mde 4 G.I.R.'s & those just so happened to be the holes I parred. Weird thing is it felt like a crummy rd while I was playing it, had some nice 3 wood tee shots & my iron play was good, but once again my lack of a decent chip shot let me down. I guess the more you play & hopefully the better you get, a score in the low 40's just doesn't feel all that special anymore.
  14. +1000. If you absolutely must paint that club over & over, how's about doing something that actually might look good? Do some NFL team logo or something similar. I think most people wont comment because they tend to subscribe to the old saying of "if you don't have anything nice to say, then say nothing".
  15. I would have politely said "adios" & played ahead. I have done similar deals when paired up with someone who I just didn't care for, I would deal with it for the front 9 but then I either play ahead for the back 9 or I head into the clubhouse for something to eat & leave them to play on their own.
  16. I would put Rory's chances at winning the FedEx cup somewhere between 0 & 1%.
  17. Played an executive 9 hole course, 6 par 3's & 3 par 4's for a total of 30. Shortest hole is 87 yds & the longest is 299 yds. Started horribly & carded a 6 on the 1st hole for a very ugly +3, but then played the final 8 holes at 1 over for a total of 34. Had 2 birdies & 3 pars so it turned out ok. My short game hasn't been a strong suit for me but lately it's starting to come together.
  18. I enjoy it, have played a lot of rds by myself. Lately I have been playing 4-6 times a week, sometimes just a quick 9 but more & more lately I have been squeezing in 18. I don't need to "compete" against anyone except the course, for me the thrill of making a great shot or going for that birdie..wish I could stop choking & actually hit more of those...is all I need.
  19. I really think my Cleveland launchers have given me some confidence. Played a 3000 yd par 36 9 hole course in the Dells today, I played it twice & shot a 42 followed that up with a 43. So 85 total against a 72 par has me ecstatic. I listened to the guy in the pro shop who advised not using driver on every hole & just try to keep the ball in play. Quite a few massive bunkers on the course & I got into a few of them but managed to escape relatively unharmed. Anyways I only used my driver a few times, instead I was hitting 3 & 5 woods off the tees & that tactic worked out great. Short game is not my forte, anytime I need to pitch it on the green from 40-50-60 yds I never know exactly whats going to happen. Instead I utlilized course management so my green approach shots were in the 150 yd range which for some reason seems to be my "can't miss shot". Hit 10 out of 14 fairways in regulation, had 9 G.I.R's also. Perhaps there actually is something to that whole course management deal afterall?
  20. Played 2 different 9 hole courses yesterday. 1st one was a regulation course par 36, I ended up with a 46 & am semi-happy even though I completely screwed up the last 2 holes. 2nd course I played last night with my wife is a par 3 & you tee off those horrible practice mats on every hole. Shot a 35 which I am sorta ok with, hit 4 greens with my tee shots & the rest were either just off the side or dead straight but a tiny bit short.

  22. I vote this the most believable post in the entire thread.

    The Hammer

Supposedly the F2's are actually pretty good clubs. I have read a couple of reviews on them in reputable magazines & they rate well. The Hammer is a joke but I bet they have sold a ton of them. POW!
  24. I will go anywhere from 2-3 times a week. Never shoot more than a large bucket at a time & I will work on a variety of clubs. Hit 10-15 balls with each club while aiming for a particular yardage marker or spot in the field. I keep hitting the same club until I reach my goal of hitting the designated spot. I also take notes on the distances I hit each club with. Also I avoid those damn mats at any & all costs. I don't care if I go thru an entire bag of tee's since they are dirt cheap.
  25. I enjoy links style courses...although I don't like the green fee's they charge. Seems like any course that utilizes the word "links" automatically charges $20 more than a regular course. But I really like the heavily forested courses, they are so cool to look at walk on. Plus I don't know about anyone else but I get some sort of weird perverse pleasure out of having the forest eat my ball & then I have to try some crazy shot thru 2 trees, over a branch, just past the hill, etc. There are times I will be on a certain course all by myself & I will try the same shot 4-5 times until I make it...ala TinCup.
