  1. For the Barclays, Mickelson averaged 280 yds, Stricker the winner averaged 276. Yet we continue to have people delusional enough to believe they are driving the ball better than these guys?
  2. I haven't heard that, it could be simply that you are either holding the club face just a bit open or I have read that a more flexible shaft will also contribute a fade or slice issue.
  3. I vote ugly because that's what I have & most likely always will have. Functionality can be exclusive of perfect form.
  4. Thanks Lamebums, course the naysayers will poo poo that report & state that since it came out in 05 & they have the latest & greatest driver which added 75 yds to their drive.
  5. 300 yds with a 3w??? Hurry up, there is still time to join the PGA.

    played 18 today

Sounds like you had fun & that's what matters. Course looks pretty easy overall, certainly has some of the widest fairways I have seen.
  7. A 6400 yd 9 hole course??? There is a 9 hole course 1/2 hr from me that has half of it's holes literally on the side of hill/small mountain. They cut into the hill & terraced it so there would be level tee boxes but thats about it. Even if your ball lands in the middle of those fairways, odds are it's going to roll 10-15 yds downhill. Tough little course but fun.
  8. I hit one today where I felt like I crushed it, even a couple folks I didnt know who were waiting told me it was a hell of a drive. 235 yds & dead center down the fairway is where it ended up at. I realize for a pro or a scratch player that's nothing, but for a high handicapper I am more than happy with it. I have no reasons to bs anyone on a website regarding my drive lengths.
  9. I am still doubting the number of posters who claim to be able to carry it 280+ yds. That is far & beyond anything that studies have shown regarding handicaps & driving distances.
  10. Are there any ranges which even have 300+ markers? And why is that when I check out a half dozen ranges around me.....there are next to no balls from the 250 markers & further? Never read or heard about so many big hitters before
  11. The only infomercial with a product that is any good is the Showtime rotiserie cooker, that thing works pretty well. If anyone were to believe the vast majority of infomercials, we would all be driving cars which got 120+ mpg, have the most beautiful full head of hair & ladies would be beating down your door. Call Bosleys hair clinic, get a vornado for your cars intake & some Maxiderm for yourself. Oh yea, don't forget The Hammer! 350 yd drives are only 1 easy credit card payment of $99.95 away.
  12. Cleveland Halo.
  13. You don't need lessons, all you need is "The Hammer" & POW your score will drop like magic.
  14. Softspike scuffs dont seem to affect the ball roll, & I would gladly take a green full of those over some of the stuff I have seen on greens. Yesterday my home course fertilized every green but not with some spray, they used granules which take time to disolve. Would be nice if they waited till closing time. Pretty hard to putt on greens which were basically covered in small pebbles. The ball would bounce & dance while it went where it wanted to. The there is another course with quite a few maple trees. A few greens were covered in those helicopter seeds. Completely & utterly useless to even attempt any sort of putt.
  15. Done. Some of the stuff in the survey such as keeping track of which clubs were used on each shot sounds pretty cool.
  16. What it says about me is that I don't take myself or this game too seriously. I enjoy playing it with friends & we don't follow every archaic rule nor do we have to. None of us is ever going to be in any competitions so it's no big deal to us. It's a game, a past time, something to get away from everything for a few hrs. We all have enough stress at work & home that we don't need to worry about possibly upsetting some USGA officials while we play a game. Hell of a lot more important things in the world to worry or complain about other than some guy moving his ball out of a divot.
  17. The scoring for the PGA tour is up on the boards & the tv for the entire world to see. It's not like anyone would gain an advantage by signing an incorrect scorecard. I can see the rule making sense 60-70+ years ago but now days the whole signing of the scorecard is silly. I landed in 1 today that my ball was literally completely below the surface of the surrounding dirt. The only way i could have hit was to dig an even deeper divot into hard packed soil. I elected to pick it up out of the hole & place it next to it. I don't play 100% PGA rules & don't feel the least bit guilty about it.
  18. Could care less about matching. Just picked up a Cleveland Halo hybrid 3 iron thats not in my sig yet.
  19. Played 18 today at a new to me course. I kept track of my drives along with help from my 2 playing partners. My average carry ended up being approximately 226 yds, I don't count roll because that could change day to day not to mention from hole to hole. best thing was the vast majority of mine were straight dwon the fairway & the ones that weren't ended up being just off the fairway on the left side by maybe a foot or two. One of the guys I was with could bomb them pretty good but damn it looked like he was just about going to hurt himself with the follow through. His longest was just inside 270 & he said that was probably a record for himself. I just don't see how anyone could claim to be hitting 300+ on average.....& I won't even bother mentioning that 300+ 3 wood dealio.
  20. Golf appears to have a number of rules which are archaic & need to be either eliminated or toned down. The one that got Sergio DQ'd is obviously one of them. Everyone knows what his actual score was, signing his card with the mistake that Boo wrote down wouldn't change his score. I'm not a Sergio fan by any means but that is a stupid & ridiculous reason to be tossed out of a tournament.
  21. Thank you, that is pretty much what I was going to say. If I person can afford it & it either helps them or makes them feel better about their game...so what?
  22. Mine carry between 210-230, sometimes if I get lucky & all the planets align I can get one out to 250. I go to 4-5 different ranges & never see any balls past the 250 mark, hell a lot of the ranges don't even have markers past 250.
  23. Played 9 holes on thursday & when we got to the 5th tee box there were 3 kids on the rear deck of a house which is maybe 80-90 yds from the tee box. Anyways these kids were literally yelling, screaming & they even had some loud horns. Obviously they were getting a kick out pissing of the golfers. One of my playing partners was getting upset, but since I have grandkids it was easy enough to just tune them out, hit my drive & leave them ungratified.
  24. I read that article...thanks for the link btw. Figured I would give it a shot since I tend to top a fair number of shots anyways. Went out & bought some 3 1/4" tee's & hit the range. Pushed the tee in jusy enough so it wouldn't fall over. I literally went through an entire large bucket of balls using 2 different drivers & didn't top a single 1...that's very unusual for myself. Distance seemed to be about the same bit the flight pattern was definitely a lot higher, may need to experiment with pushing the tee in just a little deeper & see how the flight is affected. I was believing the marketing hype earlier & had been using the brush tee's......those are not being used ever again since there is no way I can tee up as high with one of those. BTW in regards to tee's, is there someway to tell by looking at your tee after you hit, if you have hit it correctly? Should the tee be flying down the fairway? Broken? Head ripped off? Most of the ones I hit today I either broke in half or ripped the top right off.
  25. Based on my absolute lack of chipping ability today my answer is "obviously nowhere near enough". If I could get this aspect of the game down, I could easily knock off 10 strokes.
