Didn't bother keeping score today, played a quick 9 after work...1 hr 15 minutes. Worked on fairway shots & putting, was absolutley dreadful with the chipping. Did manage 1 birdie on the final par 5 to go along with the par on a par 3.

Played a new course today & while it's only 9 holes they had 2 water coolers, on the 5th & 7th tee boxes. Had signs on them stating they had some sort of interior filtration system also. These weren't the typical plastic igo coolers but were made of metal & had a spigot system you pumped. I will definitely be playing this course more often because the people I met were very friendly & they seemed to genuinely appreciate my business.

Shot a 49 at a course I hadn't been to yet. Kept notes on what I did good & where I screwed up. Managed to get 3 G.I.R's...course 2 of those were the par 3's. I had 18 putts total so I am happy about that aspect, all doubles except for a 1 on one hole & a triple on the last Had 4 too many chip shots where I just played it too softly due to being a little gunshy of overshooting the green. Also I was using my TM R7 460 for the 1st time & usually I tend to be pretty straight off the tee. I was getting a bit of a hook which was putting my either way on the left edge of the fairways or completely off it a couple times. I picked up an 8gm weight after my rd & installed it in the nose of the club, hopefully that will fix that tiny little issue. Other than that I am happy, sure it's not a 35 but considering where I started at 3-4 months ago & this being the 1st time on this course...I am pleased.

I do the same thing just too see if I had tried a particular shot what the outcome would be. I wouldn't play an entire rd with 2 balls but dropping one every now & then just for the hell of it is fun.

The Death of "links style" as an Adjective
Dyna replied to iacas's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Sure Links may be overused but I still like it, sounds kind of classy. We have a few of those style courses in the area but I have only played one of them so far & I enjoyed it a lot. My playing partner did not enjoy it, especially the back 9, I lost count of how many balls he lost. I am all for keeping the name, although I do like these as well "Farmland", "Grassland,". -
I have a Walter Hagen Eleven bag, molded top with built in club clips to keep them from banging around. I like it & it fits my needs perfectly. Now I just need to upgrade my pull cart, I chintzed out in the spring & just bought a $20 special that be honest works but it doesn't work well. The bag tends to rotate & the straps can't be cinched up tight enough to hold the bag well. Will get one of the bagboy models since I never carry my clubs.

At what I would consider to be my home course they have exactly 1 water cooler which is locked & it's between the 5th & 9th tee box. Usually there is water but not always. The cart girls are flaky because sometimes you will see them twice in 9 holes & other times you wont see them at all. Then you have the times where she is just sitting way off the course & just drives back & forth to the clubhouse without selling anything. I have a cart bag with an insulated cooler pocket which I now put a couple gatorades in.

Just moved up to a Taylormade R7 460, haven't played any rounds with it yet just a bucket of balls & I am liking it quite a bit.

Most of the courses in my area have a similar policy, no big deal.

High handicappers should be encouraged to play alongside the better players who can give them some pointers, hell I am high handicapper but am more than willing to accept advise, I also can keep pace with the best of them. Cheaters simply suck to be with, play with & to even simply know them is a drain on your life. One of my playing partners from work likes to invite his cousin to some of our afterwork outings & none of has any issues with that at all. But this guy really really sucks, if he ever shot a legitimate 70 for 9 holes I would be shocked. We will see hacking & hacking away way out in the weeds while a couple of us are on the green in 2-3 shots or at least close. This guy finally gets to the green & then 3 putts & somehow ends up with a 5 or 6????????????? And he does this on hole after hole, so now we pretty much ignore him & when he loses balls we dont help find them, we dont keep sight of his ball on his wicked hooked drives, etc. Basically we pretend like he is not there & eventually he wil tire of it & stop showing up.

From 2iron to hybrid.. com'on, everyone's doing it..
Dyna replied to Gregormendel's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I went to opposite way & picked up a TM 2 iron. I can't hit my hybrids with any consistency & certainly can't do anything with them in the rough, although I try to stay out on the fairway somehow the balls dont always listen. I can hit the 2 iron pretty consistent & with little to no fade. Besides I prefer the traditional look of a blade. -
Which Wedge Do You Use Most Often?
Dyna replied to FutureSound's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Just picked up a Snake Eyes 60 degree & went to a small par 3 with it just to practice that 1 club. So far I like it & definitely think it will see more use than my gap wedge. -
Riding my motorcycles, I have a Harley FXDWG for cruising and a Yamaha R1 for track days. Also taking my 4 1/2 yr old grandson to various events such as monster truck shows, carnivals, etc. Took him to the driving range with me today, he can't hit the ball very far but he sure tries & enjoys it a lot.

2, 1 Bridgestone E-6 & 1 TF D2. Hopefully I dont lose either 1 of them.
-
Currently utilizing an Adams Tight Lies driver & for me it works pretty well.
-
I have a Gap wedge, bought it to replace my pitching wedge which I somehow managed to lose, no big lose though since I couldn't the damn thing very well anyways. A standard pitching wedge by itself was next to impossible to find in the stores around me & to be honest I hit the gap a lot better than I ever did the lost club.

What is the percentage of ALL golfers who actually have a USGA score? My guess since I think it's impossible to even know how many golfers there actually are is that the number is a very low percentage of all golfers. Just throwing out some example numbers, say 10% of all golfers have an official USGA handicap....& I feel 10% is way too high, & if only 20% of those have single digits that would mean the actual number of single digit players in relation to ALL golfers is minuscule.
-
Sure I can, it's the internet. Maybe you haven't heard but I can hit 320 yd bombs all day long & i'm a scratch player BTW, Lamebums stated he didnt believe that even 10% of the folks with handicaps had single digits...the study claims 20% so he is basically stating the study is claiming at least twice as many single digit handicappers as he blieves there to be. Wow that got kind of wordy. Anyhoo, I agree 102.5% with what he stated.
-
I'm jumping on that bandwagon, love popcorn also.
-
Agreed 100% on both postings.

Who cares? Nothing is ever truly a new topic & everything gets rehashed over & over. But thanks for playing. Hmm, a stated opinion posted as fact, interesting.

Played 9 after work today & squeeked out a 48. Hit my driver pretty well & chipping was going well but I flubbed a few fairway shots. There were 4-5 shots that I wish I could redo, mental screwups cost me dearly.
-
I carry a Gap wedge, sand wedge & a lob wedge, but mustn't forget the most important of all...the foot wedge.
-
Maybe you should have had them set the monitor for 2-3 fairways over measurements?
