  1. played at the bali club golf course nusa dua... tee off at 3pm for a discount, but got shafted for unreasonable driving range prices... anyway, shot 52 at the front and 49 at the back. i was really hitting my superquad and irons well, and made it to the greens many times. somehow my putting was the worst ever. i think it is a sign that i rely too much on resident caddies for putting, and today's caddie was a newb trainee so she didn't really know how to help me with the putts looking forward to the next round, as i am stabilizing my driver and iron shots. please, let me get to the mid 90s!
  2. get used to my superquad swing more inside so that i reduce unintentional fades/cuts/slices putt better score mid 90s before the year end i think i can do these, because finally i have the right set of clubs and the right set of knowledge for my current level
  3. "best" shot (or at least most memorable shot) of the day was a 160m-ish par 3. completely sliced the ball to the right side of the hill, the ball hit something , although i'm not sure what, and bounced left towards the pin like it was being sucked in. i was literally laughing out loud, confusing my playing partners and then went up to birdie the hole.
  4. played at a course i've never been to with my new superquad. it was an interesting experience to say the least... ... 30 degrees celcius of heat + unforgiving desert-like rough was not easy. shot 53 on the front and 46 at the back. inconsistent driver, okay iron play and piss-poor short game. will play twice within this week, and would like to be blessed a mid-90s score by the golf gods.
  5. just traded my cobra f speed r-flex for the superquad with a stiff shaft. demoed both the burner and superquad. it seems that the burner had too much draw for me, and i preferred the feel of the superquad better. i think it looks better too! needless to say, i am very happy with the superquad
  6. sorry to hear that you're having back problems at such a young age. i'm 25 now, and when i was playing competitive soccer, my back used to hurt after a match. now, i try to protect my back as much as i can (correct sitting positions ect) backpain is one of the things i don't really want to face next time. please update your progress so that others may learn from your experience. good luck
  7. recently tested the Cobra FP Graphite + Steel, and X-20 Pro with Rifle shafts. personaly, i prefer the x-20s as the cobras had too much draw for me.
  8. sorry to hear that! i just had a similar experience: i almost dinged my brand new superquad while practicing on the shop's hitting mat, which was surrounded by concrete flooring. in the end, i scratched a part close to the hitting face . sigh, i'm sure your friend feels as bad, if not worse than me. if it was me, i would have offered to replace the club. good luck
  9. we drove the cart when i first played on a course. shanking shots and filling in divots was such a painful experience. when i returned home, i realized that they used caddies here, who carried/pushed bags for golfers. they even look for errant balls, fill-in divots ect. walking seems to promote a better playing ryhtm, so i prefer to walk now, especially with caddies around. however, i do bear in mind that playing with caddies takes a lot of learning out of the game, so i try to think for myself on every shot.
  10. sign me on! my home course allows us to start at the front 9 or back 9, just to clear up traffic. however, there are still times when we get stuck behind slow-playing folks. it doesn't help when they are stuck-up government officials - no chance of going ahead in the par 3s!
  11. played my best golf ever, ironically with a stranger whom i reluctantly joined at the back 9. 'reluctantly' because i was behind him at the front 9, saw how fast he played, and didn't want to slow him down. somehow, talking with him and seeing the way he swings helped me, thus scoring a 47 after a 55. best score ever was a 98, but i didn't hit the ball as well then. driver has been crappy the last 5 months, and was still crappy. got some advice from the stranger to try out stiff/regular shaft drivers the next time i head out. hopefully, i will be able to continue hitting the balls as cleanly.

    Soccer?

i hate to say it but the holy grail of club football - the european champions league, has eluded theirry henry thus far he has, however, been crowned world and european champion with his country, france arguably, the most dominant player recently is his compatriot, zinedine zidane. the guy won almost everything
  13. one pair of mizunos... if i don't watch where i am walking especially around slopes, then it will hurt at the end of 18 holes probably will upgrade next year
  14. count me in as well...i have been severely stressed out with my driver issues. most of my iron shots go straight, but i have not hit the driver properly on the course since 3-4 months ago. today, i was lucky enough to be grouped with this guy, who immediately noticed the problem i had. he asked me what iron shafts i used (rifle stiff), and asked me what shaft i had on the driver (flexible ). actually, if i had used my common sense, i would have realized this as well: the more flexible driver shaft tends to bend during my driver swing, causing me hours of frustation. the head lags, and then WHAM the ball snakes off to the right. i always thought that i sliced because i am a newb, but this person enlightened me. he even let me try out his r7 driver with a stiff shaft, and the control felt so similar to my iron shots. i am going to sell my cobra driver and 2 nike cpr hybrids, and get clubs with stiff/regular flex from now on. i agree with the common knowledge on this forum: get your clubs fitted! unfortunately for me, the city i live in does not have any fitters.
  15. didn't know what the fuss was about 10 years ago, as i was still heavily involved in 'traditional' sports such as tennis and soccer although soccer is still my number 1 love, it is getting harder to organize matches as i get older, and you always need someone to compete against in order to know whether you have improved golf, on the other hand, is a continuous process of competing against yourself, both physically and mentally. this is what makes me golf :)
