  1. Had to post this today because yesterday after golf I um...lets just say I celebrated my day of golf. I had the day off from work and a buddy texted me at 8 am saying he needed a 4th....I said sure and went to the local state course to play...not a difficult course but still fun and shot a 42,43 for an 85 great day for me....I went home did some yard work, showered grabbed a bite and went to my league game at a pretty difficult course (6700 yard 71.4/114) that typically eats me alive....shot a personal best (on that course) 41 for the best total 27 holes I've ever played....yea Me
  2. After posting this the other day...last night I hit someone hard right in the gut....ME! My drive strayed right behind some trees so I tried to punch it out to the fairway...off the toe, off a tree...right back and smack into my stomach...I let out such a loud "oooff" my partner thought I killed myself....hurt but I was laughing so hard it helped....
  3. I couldn't agree more....
  4. I believe it is really the golfer vs. him/herself. Golf is or can be a very very mental game. I love this game because I have nobody to blame but myself for the way I play. Its not the equipment, its not the course its just me vs myself. I believe that may be what kind of what you were saying but wanted to add my $.02
  5. 3 iron I mean....
  6. Honestly I think its bogus. Sure there are different clubs out there that just feel better than others and therefor you hit them better. But at a certain level a club is a club. There are a few companies out there that are marketing their clubs at a bit of a different numbering than they should be because of the angle they sit at (their 5 iron is REALLY a 4 iron) and sure you hit their 5 iron farther than brand x. Every golf ball company is going to tell you there ball gets you more distance than others (true to a point) but for most players a ball is a ball. That said...I spent a small fortune on my clubs and only use a certain brand of balls....all because I hit them further or have more control than brand x.......
  7. I have a buddy who plays a 3 off the Tee every time every hole and plays quite well that way. However I think he does suffer as I have yet (in three years) shave a single stroke off his average. But on that same note...he's happy with his play so.....
  8. I blew out both my shoulders 5 years ago so my back swing is very limited....I am FORCED to swing easy and to be honest I have found I hit it much straighter than I ever did before. Shorter is fine. It changed my game but I think for the better.
  9. Dont know...I currently carry 13 because I can't really figure what I need for a 14th. I'm hitting my 58* so well right now as a lob that I traded my lob wedge in. I just can't come up with a 14th so I don't
  10. Like the title states....ever? (Warning....long story) A while back my brother and I were playing a small 9 hole course (18 tee boxes 9 greens) near his home when we came up on hole with a very hard dog leg right..almost 90 degrees. My brother decides to grip it and rip it and cut the corner while I laid up for a long second shot. He hit a beautiful shot up and over the trees....when we came around the corner...laying there in the middle of the fairway was his ball...about three feet from a very dead Canadian goose......He was quite shaken and felt bad but I convinced him to shake it off and finish the round, I dragged the goose off to the side and finished out.........Later that after noon on the very same hole but from the other tee, I joked with my brother about the "death hole" trying to make light of the situation. He grabs his club and again hits a beautiful shot up and over the trees....a very distinct "boink" sound echo's through the trees and I said to him.."sounds like you hit a tree out there" we walk around the corner and there laying about 6 feet from my brothers ball is a man...out could with a trickle of blood running down the side of his head.......they drove the ambulance right down the fairway and took the guy to the hospital. Turns out he was looking for his drive from another hole and had wandered out onto our fairway.....he was ok but suffered a pretty nasty shot to the head. Needless to say, I still cannot get my brother out on that course...in fact for a while I was worried he would give up the game all together...still refers to it as the worst day he ever had in any sport. anyone else have any experience with something like this?
  11. My (EX) Father in Law was a 4 handicap and he didn't start playing until he retired at 55.....used to tick me off....180 off the tee, 150 second shot. pitch on to the green...one putt for par..
  12. P.G.A. Please Go Again... or Your Husband Golf?
  13. Yesterday I hit what, (to this point) was the shot of my life; I was playing an early morning round at my local course and the third hole is a short but difficult par 4 up hill the whole way so the green is elevated. Had a nice straight drive and was 148 yards out. I hit my second shot and was straight but a little left. When I got up to the green I couldn't find my ball...thinking for sure it was going to be on the green I looked and looked and nothing. I was alone so I just decided to putt from the fringe for the practice....when I walked over to pull the pin....there at the bottom of the hole was the most beautiful ball I had ever seen...mine! I've put them in before from a chip and from the fringe etc...but this was the first time I've ever sank one from that kind of distance...and the eagle was only the 3rd of my life.....but of course...it was 6:30 am and not a soul on the course and all my buddies called me full of it when i told them...but I know and that is all that matters.
