  1. Well, it's starting a week from today. The Course condition is not the best I've seen it, it seems everyone is wanting a round before the tournament starts as it will be unavailable for a week. I hope the greens improve because at the moment they are probably the worst I've seen them. Took this photo on Saturday morning, which is the approach to the 18th green.
  2. I believe it was at the Australian Open at The Lakes in Sydney. The accent in Western Australia tends to be a bit rougher than perhaps Melbourne or Sydney.
  3. Well it's less than 3 weeks away, and with a cancellation of the tournament at Valderrama, the field has gotten somewhat stronger. I can see from the player list, that Robert Rock will be playing. I am really looking forward to following him. http://www.pga.org.au/site/_content/document/00042819-source.pdf I will try to go around and take some snaps sometime next week, perhaps when I play on saturday. Will definitely attempt to take some snaps on the Public practice round.
  4. Wow, Tiger and Stricker are having a stinker. They should be about 4 down at this stage.
  5. Just watching the ceremony now. It's quite over the top. But God, some serious stunners in the player's wives.
  6. Does that mean Cadel Evans wins Le Tour in 2005? lol.
  7. Don't count out the Europeans. These guys feed off matchplay, it is no wonder that 'weak' European teams have mopped the floor with apparently 'unbeatable' US teams, just because they play as a team much better. The partnered matches will decide the fate of the cup.
  8. Barring a certain Frenchman's 72nd hole, I reckon he'll be fine.
  9. I'm not sure I'd like to leave myself a 3 footer if i miss the hole...
  10. I'm loving this. 9.40 at night and the final round is live. Might just have to stay up for the finish. Also, Sergio is flushing it.
  11. It has a name: the Baader Meinhof Phenonenon http://www.damninteresting.com/the-baader-meinhof-phenomenon/ The amount this happens is mind boggling.
  12. It's easy to say now, but I must admit, at the time I kept saying "WHY IS HE HITTING 3 WOOD". Pretty much every player hits a hybrid or iron short into the green. I think he was trying to be the hero, and after dropping all those shots he should of just played for a play-off and tried to beat Ernie then.
  13. That front on swing reminds me a lot of Luke Donald, especially the rehinge into the follow through. Not a bad swing though mate, must be working pretty well for you at +1.9!
  14. Chris Wood is not playing this week, he sprang to mind also, generally a good wind player. Angel Cabrera is always a chance in these tournaments, he always seems to prop up in the big ones.
  15. Would you care to elaborate? Seems like it could produce some interesting discussion.
  16. Hopefully this will be a bloodbath. Players are going to have to play every shot in the book in these conditions, which will hopefully separate the average players from the best.
  17. That's pretty cool. I've always liked how Troy hits a lot of greens. Wasn't working out with B&P;? He seemed to drop off a bit since winning a couple of years ago. I read he's not a great putter, but I think he was 2nd in Strokes Gained at 4.82 strokes gained in the first round, which is unbelievable.
  18. I think this just solidifies Erik's point about Tiger's best results tend to come at the harder venues, or at least venues set up hard. He does seem to play better when the field struggles to make a lot of birdies, and he can stroll around making a lot of pars and limit his mistakes. At least this is in recent years.
  19. I have been putting sunnies on the back of my hat for years. They tend to sit better on the back because they can wrap around the back of your head.
  20. To keep all the riff raff out. I don't want to play 5 hour + rounds and my club course is clearly the best in the state. Definitely worth it.
  21. They only ever came out with one Tiger flavour here in Aus, and that was Lime Storm. Same flavour is still being produced, just without Tiger's face on it.
  22. You know why they called it golf? Because F*** was taken
  23. I think your mate is missing the whole point about slow play. Really only applies when there is someone directly behind you. If you're enjoying a day off work on a weekday, play as slow as you like, as long as you don't hold back a group behind you. If you're playing in carts, I'd think you'd probably get around in about 3.5 hours, since you're not walking. I'm playing in a shotgun start at my club this afternoon with 2 groups on most tees. It will probably take 4.5 hours for our fourball to get around.
  24. Rito. We'll just lose half a basketball season because the players are only getting paid 30 million instead of 35. Absolute joke. Seems to be a general trend in american sports though. No longer is playing a sport for the love of it seem to be in any of these players minds anymore, they are just looking to get rich. This is why salary caps are so important, look at the Premier League, wages are just ridiculous.
