  1. About 10 years ago we had a heat wave and me and my buddy were the only ones on the course, it was 116.
  2. Just bought a MacGregor 2503 response for 69.99 at GS. I was comparing it to the TM spyder and didn't see enough benifit to justify spending $100 more. The MacGregor urethane insert had a really nice feel and they have what MacGregor calls ARC surface on the insert that is suppossed to promote a quicker roll and less skid.
  3. I'll do it ....just hope nobody sees me. Never played from tees that close wound up 650 yards less, 67.4 rating 124 slope. I don't know if I did this right shortest men tees 6043 rating 70.4 slope 131 red tees 5390 rating 71.7 slope 120 According to the chart it says at 650+ yards subtract 3 from rating and 7 from slope, the reason I'm not sure is the slope for women is lower after the adjustment.
  4. 9 out of 10 wonder where that course is, really beautiful. Then we have a beautiful girl on the french riviera,Steve Martin needs more work on his tan.
  5. True but too many take the club away with their hands way to inside versus keeping the face of the club "looking" at the ball for the first few inches.
  6. Raiders fan here, and I can see I'm alone after reading this thread but that's okay. The team is finaly being ran like a team in the 21st century with the passing of AD and the hiring of GM Reggie McKenzie. The scholarship program has ended and the FO is actually able to sign average players to average one year contracts until they prove themselves otherwise. Dennis Allen is the first defensive minded HC we have had since John Madden so that of course is a welcome change no more 70's defensive schemes that Al insisted we use even though modern offenses have been exposing the mismatches for 20+ years. I think the raiders are gonna surprise a lot of people in a few years with solid drafts and sound FA signings as far as this year is concerned I think the team may do really well if McFadden can stay healthy but that's a very big "if" at this time.
  7. I think it was Seve who actually had his caddie tend the flagstick on even 6' putts, as long as the caddie pulled the flagstick out of the cup before the ball went in it was legal. This was a while ago so maybe the rule has been changed but I don't think so.
  8. My course has rattlesnakes so that is good to know, can you drop far enough away without penalty so your not bothered by the animal or within striking distance? Some of these snakes are close to 7' long and I know there is no way I can concentrate knowing that thing is that close and taking my eyes away would give it a chance to attack.
  9. Yeah it was a bit confusing to me also, the part I didn't understand at first was "course handicap" because the course I play at says I'm a 10 but my index says 7.6 but then I realized the slope at my home course is 142 so that was why they give me more strokes versus a course with a 120 slope wich I would probably have to play to my 7.6. The nice thing is they adjust it for how hard the course is and because of that I would strongly suggest playing a difficult course to establish at because if I used the "soupy" course I used to play at I would probably be a 4 and of course screwed when I happen to play any tournaments. Remember this isn't what you average this is what your potential is because half of those 20 rounds never get counted.
  10. Sometimes just bringing the club straight back and straight through will fix it better than twisting yourself up with foot forward or back grip strong or weak. Jack Nicklaus used the exact same swing when drawing or fading the ball just by changing his stance, it took a while but I forced myself to grip it completely nuetral and set up square and just take an easy unforced, uncontorted swing as possible and my driver is my most reliable club........will somebody please help me learn a short game???
  11. I'm new here but I wouldn't sweat that 93 at all since some one else mentioned your handicap is calculated over 20 rounds and the highest 10 are thrown out and the 10 best are then averaged. Your handicap is based on your potential meaning only 25% of the time will you actually play to it and even less if your able to beat it. I stressed out also when I started posting and just dreaded when I was posting scores that were bad for me on avarage but during one two week stretch I had four rounds in the 70's and had the same feeling about posting those. I guess you could just post the better 9 you shoot but ESC will keep that under control, just a guess but I would say once you establish your index you wont be able to post higher than a 7 or 8 on any one hole so you see ESC will keep scores from getting out of control. One thing to be aware is wherever you play make sure to calculate your index versus the courses slope or tees your playing from so you know the ESC your suppossed to use. Bottom line just post the true scores because once you get your number it usually comes down right after because of ESC.
  12. I think courses should require players to "putt out" unless the player would be standing in another players line then mark it. Personally I prefer this just because I would rather walk up and hit a putt with the speed and break of the green fresh in my mind and 'feel". Too many times I see ordinary folks marking everything up to a foot away and if the course made this the local rule I think pace of play would improve.
  13. First post since introduction, I would really like to see myself with a 5 index by the end of summer, I think short game is totally holding me back at this time since I notice I drive the ball as well as a lot of 1 and 2's and my irons are not that far behind maybe 2 or 3 shots given up there but my short game is just absolutely killing me.I recently became a member at a local course that is known to have a lot of the top amatuers in the area that like to play there. Firm fast greens are the norm and I really don't have much experience on surfaces like that so getting chips and pitches close is a big challenge, I know playing a tougher course is only going to make me better it's just a little tiring when I know I have to hit greens consistently in order to just make pars.
  14. Long time browser of this forum figured may as well join in since most other sport related forums are not very golf interested.
