  1. The answer is: that's why they make blue ones and red ones.
  2. IMO which is often incorrect a light shaft in a driver may have some benefit in increased swing speed resulting in a higher launch and increased distance at the risk of slices or hooks. Fairway woods and hybrids are better served with having more control over the trajectory of one's shot rather than pure swing speed.
  3. The trend of a BT speaker is new at the clubs where I play. If someone wants to listen to I pods or earphones that is fine. I do not want to anyone else's music especially when making a swing.
  4. I will start by saying I HATE the new trend of music being played on the course. This trend seems to have started about 2 years ago and seems to be accelerating. Players blaring all sorts of noise, music, while playing are inconsiderate of others IMO. I have had to ask playing partners to turn the music off especially when I am addressing the ball. Am I a curmudgeon or are there others with the same opinion?
  5. I have been playing with an iron set consisting of 7 and 8 single length Cobra F9 and 9,10,11 Honma. My wedges are a 52 Cobra or a 54 Cleveland and a 56 single length Cobra. Ping G410 driver and 5 wood and a Cobra 7 wood Ping 5 crossover and Ping G410 6 hybrid. Anyone else with a mixed up set like mine? Any other comments or suggestions?
  6. Call Cobra they will replace it asap. This is not normal you just got a defective head.
  7. It's not what color the cat is it is how well does it catch mice: Chairman Mao. If you putt well with it keep it.
  8. High prices command high expectations for customer service. Very disappointing. My guess is they will not be with us for very long. There is one here. A friend who has trouble breaking 100 went there can back $4000 lighter, nice shafts I may add. Still cannot break 100.
  9. There was a Callaway demo day at the club today. I hit a few shots with trackman with both my 7 and the Mavrek 7. Results were similar considering the Callaway's are 3 degrees stronger. The Callaway guy said I do not hit the ball high because of my swing. He asked what I shot today, 74. He asked why do I want to change. I have come to the conclusion that I deloft the clubs at impact giving me extra distance and lower ball flight. In other words my 7 acts like a 6. As far as lessons at my advanced age I want to avoid them I am happy shooting 75 to 80 with an occasional "my age"
  10. I agree it is my technique but as my unnamed sport announcer friend says: You play better than 97% of 65+ year old so quit complaining.
  11. My 7i carries about 158 to 163 ball flight is generally straight mishits are rare but they are pulls or hooks. I may be hooding the club at impact but I am beginning to think the shaft is the issue. I did move the ball way forward near my right foot and hit a bit higher this weekend. I had some ping g400 that I hit higher I changed clubs for no good reason. When demo days come back I am going to try different clubs but being left handed limits selection. When I played well, 2-3 over from black tees, I had some Mizno blades that I hit real high but those days are in the past. I still play well enough so as to not to embarrass myself. This is the answer I did not understand: Then you should look at your technique not your clubs. Or both. the "or both" part
  12. I did not know what a Mevo was till I googled it so obviously I don't have one. I just judge my ball height against some young decent, scratch to 3, young guys I play with. My problem is with pins in the front when I am 145+ out. Ball hits in front and rolls to rear of green. I used to be able to get close to those pins when I could hit a 9 145. Maybe I am just too old. I still shoot the same score 76+- but front different tees.
  13. Irons cobra F9 1 length regular flex graphite Driver Ping G410 sft with speeder 365 reg flex shaft typical drive is 225 with slight fade I am left handed I try to control my driver swing so as to hit the ball straight I am a pretty good chipping and pitching
  14. I shoot 75 to 80. yes 85mph 7 iron is correct. I tried to play the ball further up in my stance today it helped a little but my shots still roll out too much. Shot a 74.
  15. I am 72 with a 85 mph swing on a 7 iron currently play cobra F9 single length irons. They are OK but I tend to hit them too low. 2 questions. 1 any suggestions for a higher flight with them, ball position specifically. 2 any suggestions for a iron set that is easy to hit HIGH I am too old to be concerned with "working" the ball
  16. I have a Speedster 365 o a ping g410 sft head I am happy with the result 230 and straight. i am 72 years old with a 92 MPH driver swing
  17. Forget the number on the club, stronger lofts are a marketing tool, concern yourself with the loft and how well, straight and high you hit the club.
  18. Ebay and Callaway preowned. Second Swing's prices are way too high.
  19. After hitting the club on the range and playing 3 rounds I can say the head "feels" a tiny bit heaver. However I hit the club 5 yards further straighter and higher probably due to using a better shaft. No problems and I do not plan to trim the shaft. 195, high and straight works for me.
  20. I am left handed and frequently buy used high dollar shafts to replace existing OEM shafts. I do not know the shafts background but I assume most if not all of them were originally on right handed clubs. I do not turn them over and have never had any issues using them "top up" so to speak.
  21. Distance is the determining factor not loft. Try to have 12 yards gap on full swings. The one I would not remove is the sure out it works. I am a reasonably good player and I keep a Callaway similar to yours in my bag for sand shots.
