+1 vote for the Ogio octane. I carry a Grom myself and love it.
-
Wilson staff 50/50 is my suggestion. I've found them to be the best ball dollar for dollar. Around 16$ a dozen at Wal-Mart, Dunhams, ect...

It is more fun to win one on E-bay.

Ball closest to ProV1
bIGwIRE replied to songwriter's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
True, it has been proven that they lose a little bit after sitting in the water... but still, they closest thing to a new ProV1 is a refurbished ProV1.... I've seen refurbished balls at shop-ko for 12.99 a dozen....I'm sure at least one per dozen was found in the woods. -
I use it alot. I like having the shot options when carrying 4 wedges. My 52 and 60 are DSG grind, and my 56 is a low bounce, so I have some options depending on the lie as well. Here is a good article on wedge bounce and grind.

Me neither...and I'm kind of a "cleavland" guy when it comes to irons and wedges.

I'll put my vote in for these, too. A great wedge, a real steal 3 for 209$. If you have the money to spend I would take a look at Scratch wedges, otherwise the 588 dsg's would be my choice.

Can anyone tell me about the Cameron JAT Prototype?
bIGwIRE replied to gibbous's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Why not send it to the custom shop and get the swing weight bumped up a little? It would be an investment of a few hundred $$, but your wand would be tricked out and feel just how you want it. -
I need your help on Proj X shafts!!

I agree completely. I swing down through the ball, even with my long irons, and the PX 6.0 has really done well for me so far. I play a stiff shaft in the driver and 6.0's are just right for my irons.... since you are playing an X flex maybe try out the 6.5 or 7's?? Good luck. -
Alot of club pro shops will let you demo putters on the putting greens, and most will let you play one for a nine if they think you might buy it. Expect to pay 20-50$ more than you would at Dick's or somewhere like that, depending on the putter, but you'll know for sure if you like it or not.

Yeah, baseball is hard to switch over from. It can be done though. Really focus on keeping your weight on your toes and finishing with your body weight over your left foot. Totally backwards when your body is used to baseball. Talking to a pro/getting a leason would always be a good idea. I still wouldn't go messing with your equipment untill you get a few things figured out with your swing. Good luck.

I also shoot the same driver, and I'm also tall like you. (6'4") Often time this problem is cause by your swing path being to steep, something I struggled with for awile. Before you go spending the money on shafts get yourself on the range. Practice taking your club back low and slow . Also focus on cocking your wrists farther into your take away. If you take it back steep, you will bring it in too steep. I also find it hard to belive you slice with this driver... with the longer shaft and it being only a 49 gram... pretty much takes the right side of the course out of play for me. I have to focus like a brain surgeon to shape it to the right. Hope this helps, low and slow is working for me.

Guys, being muscular does not hurt your golf game at all, as long as you are stretching regularly, ideally at the end of each workout. The part that hurts your swing is when you are really bulking up or lifting hard and heavy is that you body is changing very rapidly. Your feel will be changing daily, as you are pretty much playing with a new body from month to month. Also your practice sessions will suffer if you are really pounding the weights. You will be sore and your feel will be different from day to day as your muscles repair from the last gym assualt. I bench alot, esspecially for a guy 6'4",in the 400-450 range, but the only time it hurts my golf is when I'm really pounding the weights getting ready for the hockey season.

It took about 2 weeks.

looking for a new 52 degree wedge, help please
bIGwIRE replied to gomery012's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
How many wedges do you play right now? What are they? lofts... grind...ect... Here is some good reading material when considering wedges. Do your homework before you go and demo. -
Look on E-bay. Almost any ball you want can be found there, and for good prices, too. Here are a few links... new, and used.

My brother has an 09 and mine is a year older. The only difference is in the pockets, other than the new colors. Otherwise they are the same. The Woode top has 4 individual full length dividers for your woods and another one for your putter. The other two spaces are divided from the rest and both hold 3-4 clubs easily. The putter space is sunk in a few inches and protected from the rest of your clubs. You could play without a putter headcover with no worries. Here are the differences I noticed.... On the new'09 model the fleece lined valuables pocket is popped out a few inches, making it easier to get into, esspecially when straped to a cart. Also the '09 has a hard sunglasses pocket, while mine does not. In the newer model the elastic strap for your cellphone is located inside the fleece lined valuables pocket, while in the older one is located in one of the side pockets, where it could potentially get knocked around pulling out your sweatshirt, extra tees, or whatever else you store in there. For me these are not enough to warent the extra cash as I rarely ride in a cart, wear sunglasses, and never bring a cell phone. Hope this helps.

Do you play many par 5s that run around 600 yards? Otherwise the 270yd 3 wood seems a little overkill. A good drive on a 550 yd hole would leave you with only 220-250 to the pin, still reachable in 2 with a 4 or strong 5 wood, even your new hybrid could carry the load there. Ever think about ditching the 3 wood for a 15-16 degree hybrid? I'm guessing you tee off with the 3 wood on tighter holes, but a 17 dergree hybrid would probably go around 250 yds for you, 20 yds less, but with a softer landing than the 3 wood, and less risk imo.

Do your part to help the economy and buy new clubs.

Kinda hard to carry around if you walk the course, sticking way out of your bag like that.

One more vote for the Sun mountain four-5. I've found the best deal to be on E-Bay.
-
It looks closed at address because its designed to be played farther forward in your stance. The R5 sets up square somewhere closer to the center of your stance, while the burner starts looking square somewhere around my front foot. Nope, I hated it,too. Didn't like the R7 or the R9 either.... thats why its a good idea to get fit and demo clubs before you commit.
-
I feel the same way about alignment lines, they just seem to throw me off. My Circa 62#2 is the first putter I've ever had that I feel confident with and has really dropped my putts per round.
-
Also try the Ping G 10.... The ping drivers and the TM tour burner come stock with longer shafts than the r5-r7 line, so maybe that has something to do with it. Its a little harder to get your face square at impact with a longer shaft, so make sure to look at that if you liked the shorter shaft. I accually love the new burner, and hate the R5 my brother plays.... just gotta try them all for yourself.

I game a Miura and a Scratch, but I honestly like the Scratch better. Never really cared for the Vokeys I've tried... Solus makes a nice wedge, too. I don't care for most of the newer Cleveland wedges, but I like my 588 DSG. Have you played a Chikara? Its hard to find a reliable review, and my Cleaveland is getting pretty wore out. Everybody says Chikara is good, but I can't find anyone whos accually played them.
