  1. I would agree that these TM TPMB's are flat out sexy. I love the look and the preformance; I thought the preformance was just as good as the asthetics, if not better. I also agree that TM hasn't had a good look'n iron since the RAC's. I thought the R series were just down wright ugly. Being a Mizuno fan I compare every iron I hit to Mizuno MP series and the feel of the TM TPMB's were almost as buttery as Mizuno, I was impressed. I've found a old set of COIN forged RAC's that were forged by Mirua I'll be shafting up in the next week or so, can't wait. I'm very curious to see how the play.
  2. LOL, I'm not missing out on anything. Kids are great as long as they are someone else's and frankly I feel bad enough about the world we are leaving them, but those are just my feelings.
  3. Play more than you practice and when you do practice spend 2/3rd's of the time on the the short game, well IMO.
  4. Having been raised in the 50 & 60's and coming to age in 1970 it is very sad to see what has happened. Way back then it seemed we had a very bright future, that our politicians have sold off. I love it when they say, "I don't want to morgage out my kids future"; lol, hell they are working on morgaging your grandchildrens future. I'm glad I don't have a dog in the fight. Oh, and I do agree with the OP.
  5. LOL, I knew there was a good reason I never wanted kids.
  6. I agree. I learned this lesson back when I used to ski race; we found that one season of racing was pretty much equivalent to 2 or 3 seasons of regular skiing.
  7. I'm not a hybrid fan, but have hit some. I thought the Niki hybrids were very nice from last year. I don't think that they have changed much.
  8. I carrry a 18* 2i Bridgestone Air Muscle and I love that club. Sometimes I'll put in my niki vr cb 2i into the bag just cuz. I love long irons and think one of the best feelings in golf is a pure long iron.
  9. You can use anything you want to make the ball. If I have a long putt I'll make my ball with a tee so I can see where it is when I look at the putt from behind the hole. Most of the time I use a poker chip b/c I can see where it is easally. I like very visible ball markers cuz I play for money a lot and walking on someones line b/c I couldn't see their mark can ruin a round very fast.
  10. There isn't that much difference in heads now days. They can't exceed a CORE of 0.83 or get any bigger than 460 cc's. The big difference comes in the shaft. This is where it is important to find out what degree driver loft and flex of shaft work best for YOUR swing. A launch monitor with a KNOWLEDGABLE tech would be very illuminating for you, oh btw that would not be Dick's, GG or GS cuz from what I've seen, they don't know much. Now I see you are hitting your driver 250-260. Whats wrong with that? That is longer than most ppl. However, its not necessarilly about distance, its about accuracy. A 300 yd drive in the rough or OB mite impress your friends, but it will kill your score. The longer the drive the more possible trouble you will find. Heck, if I want I can rip it 280, (which isn't bad for a 63 y o guy), but I loose accuracy, so I'm happy with 260 in the fairway and I still make it home in 2 on most par 5's b/c I love my 12.5* 3 wood.
  11. (lol), First, welcome to golf and "golf" spelled backwards is flog and we all do it. I understand your frustration and have been there many times myself. I've learned to walk away from the game when I get like that and go do some fly fishing for a week or 3. When I come back its with a refreshed attitude and I am egar to play again. That makes all the difference in the world for me. Lessons are never a bad idea, just make sure to you go to someone you can relate to; Just b/c they may be a teaching professional doesn't mean they are good.
  12. I'd underscore the fitting; it is very important. Since I come from the school that says that your reach should exceed your grab, I'd suggest getting a set of clubs you will grow into b/c they will make and/or keep your swing good. Once you have a golf swing you can pretty much play any club you like. So after that its just a matter of finding what you like.
  13. Depends what you like. Personally I prefer a range finder to a gps. My Bushnell will bounce off of most anything so I can shoot yardages all over the course. As for gps, it seems that depends on the unit you have. Some you have to pay to download courses and others like Golf buddy (I think), come with courses already downloaded. So you really have to check and see what kind of deal comes with the gps.
  14. Wow, you wore out a set of r9's; I'm thinking you are just tired of them cuz it takes a long time to wear out a set of irons. Anyway, in my mind you shouldn't have any problems moving to the Mizuno's and you will probably like the feel a whole lot better. As for foregiveness, that what you get when you go to church.
  15. Here in the NW during the winter there is a noticable difference in distances. Temp is usually in the 40's with "tick" air. During the good weather I'll play whatever tour ball I can get for the best price. During the winter I'll play Laddie Xtremes or the new Wilson DUO which is a hell of a winter ball. I'm getting summer time distances with them and I think they are father off of the irons than the woods. For reference, drive is 260, all fly cuz there isn't any roll during the winter and my 8i is 150.
