did you get custome lie angles for your irons?
Release replied to localhawaii's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
You really should have it fitted by an experienced fitter. However, if you're just curious as if your current set is working for you, just put a piece of the black electric tape on the bottom of the sole and hit some golf balls off a driving range mat. The brush mark on the tape will tell a lit of stories Not all makes have a standardized lie angle, so what works for you in this set may or may not apply to a different make. -
Wear Under Armour long sleeve or anything similar to it, this will keep your torso warm. Have head cover and thick socks ( in case of hole in one wear two pairs ), this will keep your ends warm, and throw in a pack or two of the hand warmer in your pocket for your fingers in case you need it. Add a wind breaker or a vest which you could peel off if you get warmed up.

Have you always hit this driver to the right or a mixture of straight and to the right? You might have blocked it to the right without finishing the follow through. For driver and long clubs, I like to look at something directly beyond the target, something much taller, like a tall tree or even the mountain. Something bigger and more defined in the back of the target will give me better image to aim for. For the short clubs, I'll focus on smaller target.

I also think that you should consult a physician. Sometimes a hairline crack might also be very painful. -

"Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf" by Ben Hogan
Release replied to iacas's topic in Reading Room
It was my first golf related book, bought 26 years ago. Loaned it out to a friend whom loaned it to someone else and never returned to me again. I had bought several additional copies throughout the years, I keep one copy in my family room, one in the magazine basket in the bathroom and several on the book shelve. Each time I read it, I had found different messages which did not make sense to me before. I may read it every week in pieces or I may not touch it for months at a time, but it still is one of my favorite golf books. -
"Bag burn" on graphite shafts...
Release replied to Chief Broom's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I had one of those early Sun Mountain carry bag, remember I had to buy a kit to put the protective rubber tapes around the opening rim of the top. This was the time most of the golfers still use steel shafts and persimmon woods were still being used. I'd look at some 3/8 thick foam tapes with adhesive on one side, just measure, cut and apply, it won't take up too much space if you're carrying 14 clubs or less. Another thinking is, I had seen golfers put the woods in the side slot in the middle section. -
You are the luck one if your investment is only down by 25%, most got hosed off by 40%-50%. You must be in a very conservative fund.
I"m prettyy sure it's a stiff shaft, I was trying to hit his extra stiff Titilist Driver as well 9.5 and it went pretty far with lots of roll. (like 230). There are Stiff shaft and there are stiff shafts, most common stock shaft from Mizuno is the good old Dynamic Gold S-300, you need to ask the source to confirm this, plus hitting a 9 iron well does not mean you could hit the whole set well enough. You need to do more home work on this. Remeber, distance is not the only reason you'll need to shop for a new set of irons. The irons were heavier than mine but not that much... not much else though =/ But any ideas on what type of irons I should get besides mizuno (since it seems to be expensive)?[/ Go to your local golf stores with a driving range to demo the irons, many stores in the western WA have the set up for you to demo new clubs. The Taylormade r7 set might be in the $400 range now. Keep an eye on the last year's model ( or even older models), you'll save 50%-70% off the original asking price.
Put additional padding on the rails of the divider and the wall of the rim is a good idea. You could get lining material from craft store I'm not sure about put tapes on the shaft, although I have seen golfers keeping the UPC stickers on their golf shaft for years ( not sure why, maybe they believe it'll increase resale value if they keep the stickers on the shaft ). -
Make sure you take off the iron covers, storing or just sit in the garage for a day. This will prevent rust on the forged irons, especially on the grooves and any small scratched you might have from playing. Wiping the face clean after each shot with a towel is also a way not only to keep it clean but prolong the life span of the grooves.

Hi 222, Did you notice what type of shaft was in the Mizuno ? That probably is what you should be looking for. Also check on the loft on your Founder's comparing to the Mizuno's.

How often do you change your golf grips?
Release replied to titaniummd's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
On the average 18 months to 28 months, the longest set lasted almost 10 years on one set of irons still tacky but getting easier to pull apart ( maybe that's why they don't make it any longer, it lasts forever ). Currently, I have very good luck with the GP DD2, these are soft and into the second season still feel like new. We'll see how long these will last. -
Forged metals are softer than the cast ones. I have both forged and cast sets of irons. No difference if you take good care of them. The X forged is not going to be as forgiving on missed hits like your X20, I'd recommand trying it before you purchase.

Ping Karsten Series Putters
Release replied to Grndslmhttr3's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I like the new Karsten series, feel like the Beryllium Copper ones in the past, a bit heavier which is great for faster greens. I think they had done a great job and able to keep the price point reasonable. -
Proper exercises and a firmer mattress will save your back. Swimming is also a great way to loosen up your back after an 18, if you have a pool near by, 20-30 minutes after a round will do you lots of good.

Please wear your seat belt , as you might have a habit of not wearing it. It's not just a personal choice, you have also made the choice for all those whom love and care for you, and all of us whom will share your medical expenses in the event of an accident. Life is the accumulation of millions of smaller events by all of us, I hope you live a long and productive life, think of all those people whom will benefit from your being around and have a positive influence on their life.

Both candidates are addressing the issue on individual level, as this is the most personal and pressing concern the mass have. Increasing tax at any level will only work temporarily and not a permanent solution as we all know it. The overall well being of the economy body is the only way to maintain a healthy tax/redistribution structure. Socialism,capitalism... don't you believe they tax you differently, they might name it differently but the bottom line is the demand level for the public services and the supply and redistribution of the resource to meet the demand. We need someone to reconstruct the spirit of well being, but also put the reality check into the formula. I wish I could know who's going to be their financial advisers when they're in the office, that, might influence the direction for casting my vote.

It's a great idea, I remember this from the Golf Channel as this is one of the finalists which made into the production stage. I could not find it in my local stores and obviously, at $20 a pop it's kind of hard to convince a lot of golfers to go for this. I'd found in the past a free shoe spike tool came in the replacement box also works fine for repairing ball mark and prop up your extra clubs around the green. Tonyy's idea of using a towel is not bad, and I had found the largest cloth pin I could get from a craft store works also ( approx 4 1/2" long and cost $2.00 ). Price point is too high to get the consumer cross the decision line of purchase.

For leather gloves, the Ben Hogan Apex ( made of kangaroo leather ) used to be a very nice glove, thin and last a long long time 3 gloves for 2 seasons ( approx. 30 rounds for each glove ).

Anyone Else buy a Scotty Cameron Ball Tool?
Release replied to iacas's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
It's great if this "tool" helped your game. I had never used the line on the golf ball for alignment; for me the optical point of view looked different from above than from directly behind the golf ball so not good for my game. If it helps your game and speed up the process of determining the putting line for you, go for it. -
Help finding golf balls
Release replied to clonewars222's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
It's scheduled to be released to the market this month, but I have not seen it in the local store as of yesterday. It's advertised as for a golfer whom has hight ball trajectory, seeking more distance ( roll ), I'm guessing it's similar to the Titleist DT-Roll model. There are so many good golf balls out there, it's very hard to say which one fit you better, sometimes an off brand might be the better golf ball for your game. -
Two Clubs Left to Buy: What Should They Be?
Release replied to Chilli Dipper's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
(1) Adams Ovation 16* 4 wood or Adams Insight BUL 15* 3 wood. (2) Ben Hogan CFT #3 hybrid 21* . Why, there are lots comparable and nice clubs out there, but being budget minded, you could get both for under $80 in a very nice used condition or if you could find new ones just a bit more. Both are very easy to get the ball off the ground and forgiving. Rated highly with their peers when introduced as new. If at all possible go demo some golf clubs at a driving range.
