I think its only if you sell it as a cameron or if you copied it almost exactly.

The Nike VR Blades are an aweful close copy of the old Titleist 690mb Irons. I put my 690 7-iron next to the VR 7-iron and all of the geometry and the shape of the clubhead are almost all identical. It is the same 1025 carbon steel as well. The Nikes just have a prettier finish than my 5-year old Titleists.

I have a $5 putter at home that looks just like a Cameron other than it is Cast and has a painted finish. Probably putts just as well too in the right hands. All kidding aside if I had access to a cnc machine I would build something unique. You have the tools so why not come up with your own design. Who knows you might come up with something marketable. If nothing else you would have a completely unique putter.

I don't think air resistance is a factor in distance. It might be a factor in clubhead speed but I would bet that any loss there would be more than overcome by the trampoline effect and larger sweetspot of a large headed driver.

Drive short shaft experiment has merit.

I grip down when the hole calls for a draw as it makes it easier to draw the ball. I don't notice much difference in distance choked down. -
Do used/refinished gold balls perform differently than new ones?
mako224 replied to RocktimusPryme's topic in Golf Talk
Is there any such thing as a "refinished" golf ball. I have seen them on ebay but what exactly is a refurbished ball???? Soaked in bleach overnight???? -
Fishing of course.

if money were not an option.....
mako224 replied to miller72's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Money is not an option for me. I spend whatever I want on my golf equipment so I'd probably have the same clubs I have now. If I could do one thing I would have Titleist bring back a few club models they have discontinued so I wouldn't have to search eBay for the odd chance that I find a new unused set of blades that was discontinued 6 years ago. -
I play for money pretty regularly although I don't like too. I always play 4 or 5 strokes worse when we are betting.

mako224 replied to RocktimusPryme's topic in Golf Talk
Speaking of water inside balls....a while back I cut an old Titleist ball in half for something I was working on and this particular model had a liquid filled bladder as its core and was wound with a rubberband like material. I believe it was a Tour Accuracy model but it was filled with liquid. Pretty cool. -

I would buy ProV1 X-outs before I would buy used. They are usually $24 to $29 a dozen. If you have a Golfsmith store nearby they usually have a large clearance section of discontinued and last year's balls for cheap. I have had real good success there. I recently got 3 dozen HX-tour balls for cheap there. -
The whole direction the federal government is heading scares the poo out of me. I liked Bush and still like alot of what he accomplished. I was completely dissatisfied with all of the candidates in the primaries from both parties. The media chose this election. We ended up with a choice between two lousy candidates and we ended up with the worst of the two. I voted for a third party candidate. I just couldn't hold my nose and vote for either of the two party candidates. I hope Obama does well but I am not optomistic based on his past voting record, his own statements and his past associations.

Geezzzz, sounds serious. Sorrrrry to have offended everyone. I hope the golf forum police don't come get me or something. Really, I didn't know putters were such a touchy subject.

I'm new to golf forums so please excuse my ignorance. Are putters really that controversial?????

Has anyone hit the new Titleist 909 hybrid?
mako224 replied to Titleist Man's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I absolutely love the 585H with a ProForce 104g stiff shaft. For me it is the ultimate hybrid. I haven't seen the new model yet but I think the old one was great and the new one is likely better. -
Did I hit a sore nerve or something with the putter topic? I don't get it. Why shut the thread down? Its a legit question.....I think???? So is it the collector item aspect????? How do you know what is worth what???? Are there any real performance benefits???? Are they using exotic materials???? I wasn't trying to cause a problem. I would think a topic about putters would be a good one on a golf equipment forum, especially on a 30 degree day with a 40 mph wind.

Are high cost putters worth it????
mako224 replied to mako224's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Here is a good example. Here is a putter that is currently listed on eBay for $5,495. I have a putter that looks like it was cast of a mold made from this putter. The one I have came as part of a cheap boxed set of clubs I bought for $129 at The Sports Authority back when I first started playing the game. -

I watch titleist items constantly on eBay and I have seen Camerons go for as high as $7,000. I just don't get it. http://cgi.ebay.com/Scotty-Cameron-C...1%7C240%3A1309 -
Just throwing the question out there. Is a Scotty Cameron any better than the $19 putter in the bargain box at WallyMart???? I have also seen $19 look alikes to the classic Odysee 2-ball putter. Is there any real difference?

Just curious what the logic is as to why push pull carts are not allowed on some courses???? I can understand perhaps durring peek weekend times but why not durring weekdays, late afternoon or durring the offseason for those of us who prefer to walk but don't want to carry. Is it just a snob thing???
-
I prefer to put on the long underwear and go play a real course. No simulators for me. If the temp is above 20 degrees and the sun is shining I'm playing. If you walk and you keep moving you can easily get 9 holes in without getting cold.

Keep in mind something like this particular weapon is only going to be used at point blank range in a situation where the person's life is probably on the line. If owning that weapon makes that person feel more secure they should go get one and keep it close by. Its better than nothing or a wistle. .

You assumed I was questioning the legitimacy of his handicap system. It was just a question. What's that old saying, something about "Never assume cause you'll wind up looking like......." Second, if you are going to post scores on a handicap system you have to do it right. It goes back to the integrity of the game. So since you mention it, you're darn right I'm questioning his methodology. Perhaps I should ask about mulligans and putting out as well.
