Good online options for purchases.
apex53 replied to shades9323's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Agree with the TGW and 3Balls Golf recommendations... I have purchased from both multiple times and been very satisfied... Haven't tried the other sites but I'm going there now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Scotty Cameron California series putters
apex53 replied to kpaulhus's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Bought a California Monterey online from Edwin Watts... Arrived Thursday, really, really nice looking putter... -
I have the Black Nickel Vokey's, they feel a little softer to me than the Chrome models... I'm fairly certain it's all in my head though... whatever fits your eye right? Mizuno makes great stuff that's for sure

What shaft did you choose for driver?

Used Golf Clubs from Golfsmith
apex53 replied to ironjohn929's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I agree with the posts about Golfsmith's prices on used clubs being jacked up... I have browsed their used club rack before and was shocked at what they were asking for a set of Titleists that had the damn hell beat out of them... I've found a good deal on a hybrid and a wedge at PGA Superstore -

Ping S59 vs Titleist 735CM vs Mizuno MP30
apex53 replied to jpalermo's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I know I'm a little late here but I can speak from experience with the 735CM's... Bought a used set about a year ago at a golf shop... I have played a few rounds with them and they feel really solid... IMO Pings are great clubs, I can't argue with the science and engineering that goes into the design of those clubs, they just feel a little bit hard to me at impact... Mizuno makes great clubs, the opposite of Pings, soft feel from the forging process... If you needed to get Titleists or Mizunos adjusted you could have them bent by a clubfitter if it's only a degree or two... Good luck with whatever you go with and hit 'em straight! -
OK, I'll agree to disagree with you there ... my point here is that if TCU played against one of these College Powerhouse teams (FLA, BAMA, TEXAS) we'd all know if they are for real or if they are imposters... TCU beat Oklahoma in Norman in '05... Same for Boise State... Instead we are left wondering what could have been or what might have been... A playoff system would take care of all that.
-
TCU didn't move up? What? They are 4th in the BCS standings and 3rd in the AP Polls.
-
I'm laughing now at your post... Puts a smile on my face... Yes, they do play in the Mountain West conference... Not a conference like the Big 12 or the SEC... That's exactly why I want to see them play against Florida... Let's see how they matchup against a College Football powerhouse... With the system set up the way it is we will never know... TCU could get the s*** kicked out of them by Florida... Then again they might beat the Gators... I remember Boise St beating Oklahoma and Utah beating Alabama... The system is flawed... You can call me ignorant, that is certainly your prerogative... You seem like a classy guy... Happy Holidays to you and yours
-
I think TCU got completely hosed... They went 12-0 and get no chance to play for the National Championship... Completely disappointed in the matchup of the Fiesta Bowl... I smell conspiracy... Agreed, the BCS can't take a chance on both TCU and UC beating the "big" conference teams... That would expose the nice charade they have going... A playoff system is needed but I'll bet dollars to donuts that it'll never happen... For the record yes I am biased, I did not attend TCU but I have family and friends who went there... If Nebraska had beaten Texas then there would have been chaos... What would the NCAA and the BCS have done then?
-
I hope you're right... I think it would be a shame for that to be the case... I don't want to remember him for Rachel Uchitel instead of Torrey Pines in 2008... Time will tell

Weather Gear recommendation.

I'd recommend FJ or Zero Restriction... try TGW, they offer some really great sales and discounts, quick shipping too -
All of this makes me remember an article I read by the late great Dave Marr years ago in Golf Digest... Basically he said that you can do a million great things in your life but if you do one really bad thing in your life and that is what people will remember first... When I think of O.J. Simpson the first thing that comes to mind is the murder charges and the white Bronco driving down a CA highway during the U.S. Open in 1994, not the fact that he was a great running back who won the Heisman and rushed for 2,000 plus yards in season with the Bills... same thing with Bill Clinton, the first thing that comes to mind is Monica Lewinsky... Unfortunately I think the same will apply to Tiger... not to diminish what he has done on the course and the charitable things he has done off the course, but this story just keeps getting crazier every day... Is this fair? No, probably not, just my two cents... really, really sad that his family has to go through this, especially his children

Very cool stuff!!! Thanks for sharing!

Titleist 710mb vs AP2 (original version)
apex53 replied to CJL's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I don't think it would be that much of an adjustment. If the club looks good to you and you feel confident that will help. Definitely get fitted before you buy. I hit blades growing up and still like to put them in the bag. I have AP2's and 660's. The feel of hitting a solid shot with a forged blade is irreplaceable IMO. -
I have played Poppy Hills, enjoyed it very much, not as much as Spyglass or Pebble but good course... Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz is worth it, Dr. Alister Mackenzie design

What are you, a Callaway rep? If someone already has an iPhone why would they purchase a Callaway uPro for $249 (minimum) when they can purchase a $30 app that serves the same purpose? That doesn't make any financial sense. Your post was a "wast" of time.

I agree with Des Nuttz, it's a great app... downloaded it today on the course while waiting for the slowest foursome ever in front of us... really cool features, was spot on with skycaddie yardages... good stuff

Top 10 Golfing No-Nos
apex53 replied to Kingfisher's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
that's damn funny, nice! -
very true... Ken Venturi once said that anyone can quit because quitting takes no talent... Daly needs to go away and keep drinking... how can anyone respect this guy? freaking ridiculous... complete douche... do you think he has an excuse book in his golf bag? bad back, yeah right, bad back my ass, he just sucks
-
ouch, that picture brings back some memories... take it slow, you'll want to get out as soon as you can but just be careful... go to the practice green and putt, putt, putt and then putt some more... that way your feel will be there when you can start playing again... best of luck!

you guys make a good point about this, Tiger did what needed to be done
