I don't think this was a good test today. Went to an executive course and the back tees weren't all that far back from the whites. I used a few tips I read here that paid off though.Used my 4i hybrid to tee off on 3 short par 4s that I normally would have hit driver and got into trouble with. I also hit them off the deck. I was having troubles whenever i was teeing up anything but driver. Must be a mental thing but better results without the tees. I drove one hole with my 3 wood about 200 uphill and two putted for birdie. ( should be a par 3) had another eagle putt just off the green on a par 5 but three putted for par. Overall I continued to struggle the most chipping off the hardpan.11 over 46. Right around where I've been all year so far. Breakout round tomorrow :)

Too many wedges for a beginner. You could probably pull two of the hybrids too. If you don't hit the 3 wood well I'd take that out too. Play with a limited bag for now, practice with them all. Add as you improve.

Will let you know how it goes.I'm interested in the outcome too. :-) I have only been playing every two weeks, about 6 times. This is my first year back since I stopped about ten years ago. spent most of the year putting my bag together. I have been hitting the range and practice greens 1 or 2 times a week between rounds. Not sure how I pulled this off but I am playing the next three days, a 9 from the whites tonight, 9 tomorrow from the back tees, and tuesday my first 18, not sure from where that day.

Me and my buddies play from the tips all the time. We played the same way 20 years ago. Back tees, down and dirty, no gimmies, count every stroke. I'm going to play 9 with my lady today and try from the whites. See if I can score better. Maybe I'm better than I think. :-D

looks like im the only one that voted for the mental game so far. not sure what that means. i do make mistakes like everyone but nothing really bothers me when im playing. hit my shot good or bad and move on to the next. dont dwell on the bad ones at all, dont feel much pressure on important shots. im just so happy to be playing after not playing for so long.

Congratulations. Awesome round. thanks for the blow by blow. You've inspired me to work with my hybrid off the tee.

Flex can make a huge difference good or bad but it is not standardized from company to company so you need to test them. maybe go to a golf galaxy and compare shafts with their simulator. they have used clubs you can try out. speaking of goodwill, I picked up a driver the other day and the flex on the shaft said Tour. It was very whippy and i couldnt hit a good ball to save my life even with a very slow swing. it kept hooking on every shot. apparently my swing speed was too much for that particular shaft and I am not that fast of a swinger. $1.60 with my senior citizen discount. lol. i donated it to one of the ranges i go to. search around for irons with different flexes and take them to the range. i think there is where you will discover if you are r , a, or ladies flex currently. i believe i read somewhere that ben hogan once said its 90% shaft. worry about the heads later in my opinion.

taking lost golf balls found in the woods, ethical or not?

Do the right thing and bring the balls to the clubhouse after your round so they can put them in the lost and found box. -
Chiropractor recommendation / 2nd opinion anyone?
Sante TwoGloves replied to march11934's topic in Fitness and Exercise
Nope -
I wouldnt plunk down a lot of money for any set of clubs right now. Your swing could get faster as you progress or you could lost interest or have issues again and want or need to quit. Look for used clubs and experiment. I did the same because of my own health issue and finally found the perfect set of irons for me...at a goodwill a dollar an iron. Lol my whole bag cost me less than most players pay for shoes. Some yoga poses every morning helped me swing better. Definitely need to work on your flexibility.

Yea or Nay on Golf Fans Yelling Baba Booey!

That probably happened because he was on the Stern show not long before that promoting the concert and his new channel on SiriusXM . He has been on the Stern show several times over the years. There are some awesome interviews posted on youtube that any James Taylor fan I think would really enjoy. He usually performs several songs when he is on and always sounds fantastic. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion;=1&espv;=2&ie;=UTF-8#q=james%20taylor%20stern%20youtube -

I have been a practicing chiropractor since 1984. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. -
I eliminated my slice completely by adopting a neutral grip taught by Paul Wilson. There is a video on YouTube. He claims he has helped many people Eliminate their slicing by this grip, strong top hand, weak bottom. Worked for me. I still fade my drives on occasion. Been lining up with a closed stance and that seems to be helping that.

Lefty playing righty: Should I putt lefty or maybe cross-handed?
Sante TwoGloves replied to 2PuttShakur's topic in Golf Talk
My friend gave it to me, a calaway steelhead plus and I hit it amazingly well. I figured it might give me an advantage depending on the lie. I might want to play an uphill right handed shot over a left handed downhill (western pa golf) plus I have a slight fade with my driver and sometimes it gets me in trouble on tight holes. The 5 wood I can use off the tee depending on layout of the hole. I havent scored the best with this idea yet but it's coming :) -

Sante TwoGloves replied to 2PuttShakur's topic in Golf Talk
What I was trying to say is that in my opinion it makes more sense to putt the same direction you are chipping since the strokes are the same or similar for best feel for both. I was doing the opposite until just recently. Doh !! -

Zero for me today. Didn't score all that great but finishing with the ball I started with is a good feeling.

I have been playing with a mixed bag this year. My driver, 3wood, and hybrid are Left handed as are my irons 6 thru sw. I carry a right handed 5 wood and a right handed pw and 7 iron for chipping. I am also right eye dominant and that is why I have been putting and chipping right handed. Seems to be working out -
Hey Now ! 25 years of Baba Booey This week. What do you think about all the Baba Booeys we are hearing ? Good or bad for the PGA? I'm a big Stern fan so I'm all fore it-D EDIT: Poll Added

Swinging both ways
Sante TwoGloves replied to Sante TwoGloves's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Here is a coincidence. Just picked up an old Golf Digest Sept 2014 in a waiting room I'm in and there is an article explaining why it is a good idea to practice the opposite way. Swinging left can improve a right hander's follow through says Sean Foley who teaches at Orange County National. It helps improve balance, and coordination and better results in getting your body to do what your brain tells it. As a bonus training this way improves muscular balance and helps avoid the common overuse injuries from hitting a lot of balls in one direction-particularly lower back issues. The article recommends at least half as many practice swings in the opposite direction as your regular. PGA tour player Shingo Katayama of Japan used to practice that way it says. -
Swinging both ways
Sante TwoGloves replied to Sante TwoGloves's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Why? last year I injured my left shoulder and still had some pain and loss of motion when I decide to pick up the game again. Until just recently I was hitting the long clubs much better left handed so that is when I decided to go left with my driver and woods. Loaded up my bag with some old Adamsgolf redline clubs and have been reaching distances I only dreamed of before. All of the swinging and some yoga has gotten my left shoulder almost back to normal. now I am thinking of adding a right handed driver and wood or two so depending on the hole and lie I would have some advantage. I don't really work the ball much so I thought I could change sides depending which way I want my slight fade to go. I guess I could just pick one side and work on shaping my shots better. My wedges are left too just because I got a good deal on them. :) I'm having fun with it so I guess that is most important. -
I have played from both sides of the ball in the past with decent results. This year for the first time I am trying a mixed bag. I am still putting my set together. I haven't played in ten years. I was curious if anyone here has played this way and what advice you have as far as which clubs to carry, course strategy, etc. What would you carry? Two drivers, left and right? I remember reading online one player who had left handed odd number irons and right handed even number irons. That might be a bit much for me. I play those ugly looking Cleveland Vas irons right handed and love them. I WAS looking for leftys on eBay the other day though lol

Chiropractor for 32 years and counting. Played my first round in over 9 years two weeks ago. Beat my avid golf best friend by one sinking a seven footer on the last green. :) I'm more obsessed with the game than ever already. Glad to be here. If anyone needs any advice just let me know. Best round in ten years AND undefeated. Lol :-P
