  1. That is what many of my tee's do when I hit the driver. I use the orange Zero Friction Tee's and they usually fly up in the air after I swing. Now with irons it's a differnt thing, they are mostly laid over forward into the diviot, if not broken off, which is why I usally find a good broken one and use it for any iron, Fairway wood shots off the tee
  2. Remmington is a very good choice south of Orlando and this time of year they have an all you can play rate which beats just about any where in Central florida this time of year. One other one is Lake Orlando, not the best by far , tough, narrow and very busy because it's $35.00 for the first round and then $10.00 for a re-play. Best deal in Central Florida , but not the best course.
  3. I guess that I do it all the time over the winter. I spend a few months with the family all over central and south central Florida while laid off over the winter, and I fish and golf alot while there. I play around Okeechobee and St. Cloud / Kissimee by myself and was only put with another single player once and it was funny because he lived 1 hour north of where I do in Ft Wayne In. I play the speed of the course or crowd, if it's not busy I go at normal speed, if it's busy I'll play 2 balls, 1 vs 2 or brand against brand or so on. I enjoy playing alone because my regular partners whine about every shot they make to the point I've thrown a huggies at them. It's all in fun , but sometimes the quiet is nice also.
  4. Welcome, I have lived in Indiana since 1990 (what was I drinkin?) but any way I noticed your home course Etna Acres, and I wondered how is that course. I have threatened to put the golf bag in the truck on weekends to Salamonie camping and getting in 18 before noon then hitting the lake for boating or fishing. I live about 45 mins south in Alexandria and play Yule G/C regularly. Tried to get a few other hoosiers in Indy to get together and play one weekend but couldn't generate any interest.
  5. I have used the Golf Pride Multi Compound for the last season, I like them alot, draw back is colored front part gets very dirty, very fast. We usually play 2 rounds per day on the weekend in the heat all summer and I spend quite a bit of time cleaning them. Now later this year a friend gave me a Golf Pride Tour Velvet cord with the BCT Brushed Cotton Tech. and these are sweet. Put it on the 3 wood and it was firm but soft feel. All in all I will most likely re-grip when needed to the BCT Tour velvet. They come in Red and Blue
  6. I flew to Orlando from Indy on Sunday before Thanksgiving to spend a week with the family. My round trip flight on Air Tran was $170.00, that included picking the seat I wanted down and back, cost to check golf bag was $30.00 round trip ,I had a carry on bag with all my golf shirts and clothes in it, and the 2 rounds I played 1 at Royal St Cloud, the other at Kiossimee Golf course cost me $ 52.50 for both rounds. Granted I didn't have to rent a room or car but that was the best $252.50 I have spent on golf in a long time, because I neede the break from work. Now in Jan. in Florida the golf rates go way up for non-residents but but I belive you could find a good deal just about any where in Florida for 2-3 days with room and golf. I hope to get back down over the winter and would like to play at The World Golf Hall of Fame, and see the Hall of Fame also. Good Luck
  7. This golf thing is worse than any drug addiction......I had a few (2) fairway woods (r7) that I no longer used and a Burner hybrid that I could never hit worth a crap that where laying around so I took them to Golf Galaxy and traded them in along with $100.00 bucks for a set 3-PW steel stiff TP r7 Irons with new Golf Pride Multi Compound Red grips. Have a perfectly good set of irons but when I see something new or better than what I already have I start twitching like some strung-out junkie looking for a fix. Man this game is hard on the wallet.
  8. I played this course a couple of years ago and #12 is a very wild par 3, with a long long time to watch your ball realizing it's going left or right. Very nice course. Also I played Bent Creek closer to Pigon Forge and it also has a par 3 along the same lines but it has 2 or 3 par 4's that you have to tee off to a flag then go around a hill or like one hole, down a valley to the green. I lked it better because it was in about the same condition for early in the season, but a bit cheaper on the price. Gatlinburg doesn't change the rates for fall or winter,I belive it's the same all the time.
  9. About 20 mins south of Orlando Int. Airport in St Cloud is the Royal St Cloud Golf Links, 27 holes, lots of room, and a fantastic practice area and driving range. This is where I spend much of my time while in Florida, like now.
  10. At Golf Galaxey over the weekend a Skycaddie SG 3.5 with a fifty dollar off coupon. Got it for less than the 2.5's list price.
  11. I can't say how they fly off the driver or long irons but I do like the Almost Golf yellow practice ball for chipping down the hallway during cold, rain, winter , nasty things like that. I think it helps keep the short game feel when everything is covered in snow until I can get to Florida and start my season over.
  12. The 07 Burner , I still play it at times, since moving up to the 09 Burner. I don't think I will ever get rid of that club.
  13. I like the looks, and I am always looking for putters that have a good feel, Please let me know when the site is up and running so I can get price, info. Thanks
  14. Best to date....76 on a par 71. Nine pars, 2 Birdies, and one lost ball in the water. 11 fairways hit, 7 GIR on front nine and 5 GIR on the back. Game is a little easier when you play from the fairway instead of the rough or behind some tree's
  15. You never know until you try, I spent most of my learning in the begining getting my hind end handed to me by friends who have played for years, I kept telling them I was sorry for playing bad until I started to play at the same level then began to go lower than them, so a good way to learn and improve is to jump in, just like swiming, gotta dive right in.
  16. So any of you want to get together and play , say maybe like Stoney Creek, Fox Prarrie or Brookshire as these course's are about 50-55 min's from me and have been on my radar for awhile. Good golfing weather is comming so maybe an impromto get together at one of these on some Sat afternoon, maybe a twilight rate, round?
  17. Well done, I remember the first time I shot 89,wrote it on the ball , stuck the score card ontop my monitor.....well now you have this to look forward to, last week broke 80 with 2 double's and now when I play I get so mad at my self for dumb mistakes when I have an 80-82 round. But anyway good job, and keep it up.
  18. I was one who was sold by advertizing that you have to own a hybrid or 2 or whatever. I've had 3 to date including the ever popular Taylormade Burner 19* and 2 r7's Then one night in a fit of ebay I bought a 3 iron to match my set and low and behold I hit it farther, straighter and have a slight ability to work the ball with it. So out with the hybrid in with the 3 and it now goes Driver, 3 wood and 3iron as my long distance clubs
  19. Congat's, I just got home from the best golfing day of my life. Got ask to play in a best ball with a few guy's I barely knew and we wound up winning at -12 with a chip in eagle, then played after the tournament and I also shot 79, best round to date, with 2 double boggey's. Make's me think that all the work is starting to pay off.
  20. I guess it goes to show that each person is different, I for one liked the 330RX , gained about 10 yds with the driver, flies straight, but for me I couldn't get them to stop on the green if it had thrown out an anchor. I have been playing the 330S ball with good sucess, still play the Taylormade TP Red's but the only Pro V I can or like to play is the Pro V1x as for me the pro V's feel like a rock off my driver, because I don't swing fast enough to play that ball well. I have a legitamit 98 mph swing with the driver.
  21. Ok two Indy Golfer's ,now I gotta know are there any deals around there. I mean Purgatory is off the scale expensive, Ironwood looks fantastic, I will try the course, can't remember the name, on 166 th st in Noblesville across from Sagamore Golf Course. But I have been wondering if any one knows about say Brookshire, RiverGlen and any other's around northern Marion or Hamilton county?
  22. Saturday I was driving down a country road and as I passed a yard sale I noticed a golf club leaning against a table, and I had to go back just to see. Well I bought a Titleist 980 f Pro 3 wood with a mint stiff shaft, (needed a grip which I replaced) for a wopping $2.00 and after a few hours on the range and a few rounds , well it has made it's way into the bag puting the high dollar r7 3 wood in the closet. I about fell over when the lady ask if 2.00 was to much, I had to get part of my pocket sewed where I almost ripped if off trying to get the money out
  23. The local course I play last year had very bad problem's and depending on who you talk to it was over fertilizer, doubled up in one night or Round-up mixed it but they lost 2 fairways....to the dirt, 5-6 colars around the greens and one green from a mower dragging what ever it was back and fourth. The sad thing is 3-4 of the colars around the greens still show signs of this with bare dirt in patchy spots.
  24. Do yourself a favor and drive down east of Cincinnati and play "The Vineyard" one of the Hamilton Co. Park District course's. I lived in Cinti for 32 years and played many par 3's that are no longer but a few month's back I played the Vineyard on a trip to visit family and it is fantastic. Up and down hill type course with many elevation changes, even a raven carry on one par 4. I can't wait to have another family get together so I can play there again, and I think it was $30 on Sunday with a cart. If you play there ask for, buy a yardage card for the course, a few bucks, worth every penny.
  25. I can't wait to get back there this winter and play the Royal Links of St. Cloud about 30 mins south of Orlando Int. Airport as they where adding another 9 holes to make a total of 27 holes . I love the way the original 18 played and will be on it many times when I get back.
