Question about Golf Balls
Hitman replied to Willard46's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I play the Taylormade TP Red, a 4 piece ball that plays very good . Similar flight and feel of the ProV1x another four piece ball. The thing that I like also is the drop and stop on the green from inside 90-100 yds but they still release when needed from geen side and bunkers. The most important thing to me is feel off the putter, I hate that clack noise off the putter with a harder covered ball. All the high end balls have a softer cover that feels great off all the clubs and the Taylormades are a little cheaper at $39 a dozen. Balls that have riden in the bag are Taylormade reds and blacks, Pro v's and V1x's and NXT tours but they are at the limit of hardness for me. -
When I walk, about 80 % of the time it's with my no name Walmart push cart that will be replace this season with a clicgear push cart. I ride only when playing with a co-worker because his knee's are so bad he's been told he needs surgery on both of them. I like a push cart because I can put my full bag , with extra everything including wind shirts , socks and I have a small soft side cooler that holds a few waters and an ice pack under the the back of the cart out of the way. Only problem with walking at my age is after 36 holes my heals hurt to the point I can't walk right for 2-3 hrs after a round. And many courses in Florida this time of the year won't let you walk, some idiots think a riding cart is faster than walking, speed down the fairway sure but in the long run I am usually waiting on the group ahead when carts are involved and 90* cart rule is in affect. because my push cart goes right to my ball to play ready golf. But many big name courses won't let you walk mostly a peak time because they still think it slows down play. I wonder if Say Tiger or AK showed up at one of these tracks would they make them ride?

Right now I carry 4 wedges that match my Taylormade OS2 irons a 45* PW a 50* Aw,a 55 *SW and a 60* LW, I am in the process of changing to a MB TP 48* PW ,a 54* MB TP SW and a 58* MB LW so I can add a 5W to the bag to fill the gap from 3w to 3 Hybrid. There are some courses that I play that the AW will go in the bag and a hybrid or fairway wood will stay at the house.

Florida, Like Orlando or slightly south, Kissimmee or St Cloud. Theme parks out the yang, Disney, Universal, Sea World, Bush Garens less thn an hr west, Melborne, Coco Beach to the east and golf.....Kissimmee Bay, Remington,Royal links at St Cloud,Orange Co National, Falcons Fire, are close to the airport and range from $90 and down. There are many more course's, higher and lower priced. That's where I'll be next month for at least 2 month's.(stay for free, have family all over there) There is more to do there within a 1 1/2 hr drive than you can do in a week or two

I have nothing but Taylormade, except my putter in the bag. 2 year old Driver, r7 woods and hybrids, 2005 model os2 irons I picked up used, and even play the TP Ball , and I'm not sponsored by anyone but my job. I liked the feel of all the clubs, after trying many different irons and drivers. And I usually average mid to low 80's , not bad for having played for going on 2 years, so if they feel good , use them.

Non Waterproof Golf Shoes
Hitman replied to dagolfer's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have owned 2 pair of FJ GreenJoys, that look like tennis shoes and I have only gotten a wet foot once, slid into the creek trying to pick up a ball. I've been first off on the course a few times and the dew has no affected these shoes. Played after the rain a few times and no problems there either. Only thing I have a problem with is the inside around the heel doesn't last very long, may be the way I take them off, Like tennis shoes, I never untied the first pair and they lasted over one season, my new one's ($39.95) at Golfsmith have been untied and no sign of break down and I walk 75% of the time. -
Don't where a ring anytime so no ring, (no wife either), wear my watch , all the time and it digs into the wrist if I start to bend my wrist the wrong way so it's there to remind me....now my necklass it only comes off to shower because it has a cross hanging on it, so it stays. Pockets are empty of wallet, phone, keys they go in the bag, but I do carry my cash in a money clip in my left front pocket and hasn't bothered me yet, plus it makes it easy for a dog and a soda at the turn. And latly I have taken to wearing a Trion Z on my other wrist with no problem with my swing.

The one at the Convention Center is the first weekend in Feb. 6-8 I'll try to attach the web link here. I'll be there for sure, Walnut Creeek had specials last year for a foursome to play both course's, Walnut Creek and Club Run at a very good price and that's what I hope to get, plus a 54* Talyormade wedge if I can find one there. http://www.allamericanexhibitions.com/spring.html

I just got a small 4 way no name stand bag, for the par 3 course in Okeechobbe Fl. that I will play next month , about every day, plus most of my practice time at the range is with a few clubs, this little bag will make me stay on the scedule i plan for the range instead of hearing the "Big Dog" saying put those irons down and swing me. Ha Ha. It was mostly for the small 9 holes and a few clubs.

Golf Galaxy is a good place to go, i was there yesterday and they always have a good selection of used drivers that you can hit in the simulator(if they have one) and it will give you a readout of ball speed, launch angle and distance of the ball. That way you can see how the ball flys on different shafts. I don't know where you live, but Golfsmith also has a pro shop for shaft replacements. Good Luck

My '07 Burner has a .335 Shaft, but i have an '07 r7 driver with a .350 hosel, I put a UST V2 shaft in it and it came with a spacer to fit the head because it was also a .335 shaft. I have been watching ebay for just a Burner head to put the V2 shaft in because the r7 is a draw driver and I can't get any kind of fade out of it because of the draw bias on the face.

I will be at the Indy Golf Expo in Feb, that's where I first heard of Gull Lake View. I'm sure the Michigan golf both will be there again this year and I will check into all the course's mentioned. Hopefully I'll get my group tp come up for a weekend once or twice this comming summer. Thanks again

I'm glad this thread has come back as I was about to post a question along this line. Last year at the Indy Golf Expo I picked up a brochure and price list for Gull Lake View and Stonehenge stay and play packages. I liked this one to try first with my 4-some because it's only 3 hrs north of us and we can see how the weather is going to be as to say RTJ Trail being 8-10 hrs away. Anyone with info on the courses and the villa's at Gull Lake would be greatlly appreceated

I don't know if it is written or just courtesy with people I play with , but the most we look for a ball, any where, woods, rough, weeds is 5 mins max. thats with everyone playing looking. It's just a golf ball is what I tell them , take a drop and let's play on. If they don't like it that way , then I would start looking for different players or partners.

I play the Taylormade TP Red LDP ball close to the price of the Pro V , and Taylormade sells a Burner LDP ball for around $25, these play very good , fly good , decent greenside , the only reason I don't play them and many cheaper balls the "clack" noise off my putter drives me nuts. The higher priced balls have the better outer cover that doesn't make that noise. And you could always buy used and logo Pro v's off e-bay at a cheaper price.

When a ball goes into a trap I'll break into the country song "Some Beach....Some Where" And a ball into the water gets " Your gonna need a Bobber on that one" And when one of my partners in within 5 feet of the cup it's "Nice 3 putt" And one more on an around the cup and out putt "Rejected"

Everytime I stepped on the tee today I keep waiting to hear my mother yell, "What are you thinking...Get in this house". Which is funny because it's been 30 plus years since I heard that. Temp 40 at best, wind from he W-SW at 15 gusting to 20 an 8 on the first hole with a ball in he creek, and every green hit was a ball off the back after bouncing 15 feet in the air(frozen solid) So I guess a 92 wasn't bad with 7 pars. Can't wait to go to Florida and play the right way, without being bundled up for a Yukon Expedition.

My Daughter and grandkids would be taken care of first, then there's this small (5600 yd) course in Anderson In. that has been for sale for about 6 months, that was an old country club with lots of old trees lining the fairway, kind of like playing golf in a hallway. Well it would be mine, then the high school golf teams would play for free, and there would be a First Tee program, and the tennis courts would be repaired, for the schools. And when there is snow on the ground I would have a house in Fl on the course, like Kissimmee Bay, or Remmington, Harmoney, or Falcons Fire and work on my dream of being a scratch golfer.

Had been playing less than a year, and now I know I should have quit but I love the torture. Memorial day '08 Yule Golf Course Alexandria IN #11 par 3 209 yds on my buddies skycaddie. Taylormade r7 3 wood into about a 15 mph wind. The pro v hit on the collar rolled on the green then just vanished. First person I called was my dad in Fl. because he taught me to play as a teen (played for maybe half the summer) then he dared me to play again in Jul of '07

Boat Mechanic....way to busy in good golf weather , but up side, Winter in Indiana no work , close down for a few months and I'm off next month to see family and play golf in Fl. Kissimmee Golf course is a good course at a decent price, compared to Champions gate at 100.00 bucks

I.m 50 , I played one summer when I was 13 or 14 then gave it up for women and work. Took the game up in July of '07 and the game has gotten better to the point of shooting a low of 81 on a tough hill course and getting a hole in one on Memorial day of '08 209 yd par 3
