Does anyone know how I can find out what the lofts are on my Cleveland Launcher LP irons? On the Cleveland website they have the lofts listed for all of this years clubs but I can not find this information for the Launcher LPs... Thanks!

What would it cost you to get clubs in from Canada? Golftown.com has some great deals and all of the prices are in CDN dollars. I use the Cleveland Launcher LP's and they are great irons, especially for players like us... And they are only $248 CDN... There are a lot of other good deals on there too... For example, a full set of Adams Idea a1 Irons with Steel shafts are only $298... http://www.golftown.com/gtcommerce/s...sets-C394.aspx

That is me too... I stand over the ball and 100 things go through my head before I swing...

Thanks for the encouragement. ouch... I was just looking at that driver online, I was wondering how it plays...

Yes, I agree, thanks for the tips. I was actually just at the range and I got a lesson from one of the guys there. He watched me swing and I was hitting everything to the right again, and he suggested a few adjustments. I was coming up out of all my shots, not enough to hit a nasty slice or anything, but enough to leave the face open and push it right. He helped me work on my posture a bit and told me to start with my shoulders and rotate around my spine and then keep my hands close through impact and follow through. What a difference! When I actually remember all of this I hit really nice crisp iron shots with a slight draw. Now this is a really new feeling for me and I am going to have to practice like crazy to get it down but if I can remember these things and practice I will really improve my iron play for sure... Funny, thing, you mention playing for a score. I usually always think I am playing for a score, but I am too stubborn to do things like you mentioned to get that score. Know what I mean? For example, on my home course I could tee off on every par 4 with my 7 iron and for all but 2 of them I would still be able to hit the green with a 7 iron or less... Do I ever do that? nope...

That is a good point I personally tend to think too much about my swing when on the course... The good shots I have hit in the last two rounds are usually ones where I just say $#%@# it and hit the ball...

I agree, I know that there is no magic workout plan that will make me a better golfer, etc... I have worked out for many years for various sports and I just like to see how certain athletes from different sports work out... It is much more appealing to me to read how Tiger or T.O. or Sidney Crosby work out than reading about a body builder or fitness model...

Thanks for posting this, I will be picking up that issue of Mens Fitness for sure...

I agree, I know that at times I think too much and try too hard. I played with a couple of 18 year olds and one kid hit the ball a mile. He never took one practice swing and he was the fastest player I have ever seen. I think he finished about 74 or 75... And the other "kid" was 79... Playing with better players usually helps me but for some reason yesterday it was awful. I four putted the first green and I shanked my first three tee shots, it was embarrassing... The funny thing was I actually holed out form 150 on a par 4 but it was only for birdie because I duffed my second shot! What a game...

So my last two rounds have been disastrous. I went from my career round a week or so ago to two rounds where I looked like I have never hit a ball. I am shanking my irons all over the place and my confidence is shot. I am going to hit the range today and I am also going to finally call for some lessons. The funny thing is that I thought I had it going well, and I had been hitting some really good shots and then all of a sudden I just lost it... What do you guys do when you hit a slump like this? It has only been two rounds, but it feels like I have reverted back to a total beginner and I need to get some confidence back... Thanks!

I have always liked Maxfli balls and I usually play the A3 Solid which are almost a buck a ball... I pay about $18 for a dozen... I find these to be a very good "value" ball... Good distance and decent feel for what you pay. They are pretty durable too... I just bought a dozen of the new Maxfli Fire to give them a try, they are a little more $25/dozen (I am talking CDN prices)... They were on the hot list this year so I am hoping they will perform fairly well... Anyway, I am heading out soon so I will be playing the Fire for the first time today..

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate it... Here is the crazy thing, I had just an awful round on the weekend! I told myself not to have high expectations, just play a relaxed round and try to hit some nice shots... Well, right from the first tee I was shanking the ball all over the place... I tried to stay relaxed and I did not lose my temper but it was a mess... I could not hit a fairway to save my life and at my course that usually means a lost ball... What is even crazier is I only had 31 putts! and I managed to shoot 99. Anyway, I had a lot going on this past week in my personal life and I know that I was very distracted, it is hard to play a relaxing round of golf when other thoughts are constantly in your head... Back on the horse tomorrow though!

So I have been posting all of my issues on here lately, iron shot to the right, poor putting, etc... So I figured I would share a positive so that it might help others that are struggling... Anyway, to start I will say that lately I have been getting very frustrated with my game. So I decided to take a few days off from hitting so I did not hit a single ball between my last two rounds until a quick warmup prior to playing last night. I went 4 days without hitting a ball (other than practice putting on the carpet at home) Anyway, to make a long story short I went out last night and shot the best round of my life! Now, I know that an 85 on a par 70 course is nothing to brag about, but my previous best was 88 and this year my best was 91 so I was really proud of my accomplishment. The only thing I focused on last night was making sure I had a proper weight transfer. I still hit some shots left and some right, but I also hit some of the best iron shots of my life. I missed a hole in one on a 125 yard par 3 by about 10 inches... and to hep out my poor putting as of late I had 2 tap in birdies! I still had 35 putts, but all in all I was better at every aspect of my game. Anyway, I just thought I would share this so that those who were feeling the same as I was a week ago will see that it is not hopeless! If a lifetime hacker like me can finally start playing better you can too... I am so psyched to play again this weekend, but I am really trying not to get my hopes up fr another "low" score...

If I were the Lakers I would trade him for sure, I would try to make a deal with Minnesota for Garnett... Kobe is selfish and he can not win without Shaq...

For the first tip, does that include on the follow through? I have tried this and it feels ok, but I usually drop the glove on the follow through, is that wrong? And for the second tip that one is in this months Golf Digest too...

He will always get exemptions, card or no card...

I watched the skins game yesterday and he put on quite a show.. on Friday he drove the green on a 380 yard par 4... it is a dogleg, but he cut the corner over water and hit the green... His chip in on the par 5 was a great shot 2... it amazes me that he can take that huge swing then decelerate and hit these soft shots... unreal... As far as eating right and all that I have no idea, he still looks the same physically, he has lost a few lbs over the years but he is far from trim....
-
ok, so my putting woes are well documented on this forum, but there are a couple of tips that I have read that should help. 1) Stand taller on longer putts 2) Accelerate the putter through the ball (especially on short putts)

I have that magazine and I was just reading through it again last night. I plan to try that tip tomorrow and hope to hit some better iron shots...

The club I play at is supposedly going to get some gps set up in the carts next year... I am not going to worry about how far I think I can hit it anymore until then. I would really like to know how accurate the markers are, though... On a side note, the driving range at my course is aquatic, so you know exactly how far the ball carries, but , the wind always moves the buoys around and the balls supposedly do not travel as far... At that range I usually carry it about 220 - again, that is according to their markers - so I guess the only true test would be to use gps on a flat hole...
-
It is tough to make a blanket statement that a higher handicapper can't hit it long, obviously consistency is an issue but I hit some long drives, usually at least one per round, and like I said, if the yardage markers are correct I often hit one 280 - 290 each round or two... Now if I could chip and putt better I wouldn't be such a high handicapper...

I rarely try any of the more complicated tips and drills to be honest, I find that these quick little hint type tips are very useful for me right now... Like a long time ago I was told to hover the driver on tee shots... A simple little tip that helped me improve my driving... The "blur the ball" tip is similar and is something that is so easy to try... If it helps you will keep using it and not even think about it... I cant even imagine grounding my driver now...
