So I think they say that this guy is a world champion long driver or whatever... Don't they have to use conforming clubs in the long drive contests??
-
Grip is an issue for me... I have trouble relaxing my grip and I know I grip the club way too tight... I am really working on relaxing my arms and loosening my grip... I am in the process of booking some lessons so I am hoping that I can get my grip and alignment fixed up... What exactly do you mean by "using a bit more forward press"?
-
Well, it is a little too late for today I am afraid... I think I will take tomorrow off and then play Wednesday and see where I am...
-
Well I went and hit a large bucket at lunch time... Not a lot of success... All my iron shots were to the right and I hit a bunch of shanks... I think it is mental... The funny thing is I was hitting my driver right down the middle... What a game....
-
Right thanks, I am heading to the range in about 20 minutes... Hoping for success
-
I am not 100% sure what you mean by "taking your grip with it square"... Do you mean keeping the clubface square to the target line at address?
-
Yes, I think I will go... I know that the problem is that I am not squaring the club face on impact... and I know that I need to get my hands through the ball, the problem is that I was so messed up last round and yesterday on the range that every time I really tried to do this I hit a nasty hook... I am pretty sure it is a mental issue right now so hopefully I can work it out at the range this afternoon..

I have been hitting the ball pretty well this season and I am pretty happy with my game right now. If it was not for my crappy putting I would have at least 2 rounds in the 80's... When I am hitting my irons well I can hit a nice draw or hit it straight, depending on the situation. But, this weekend I reverted back to my old ways and I hit everything right... not a slice but a "push"... It was very frustrating because I really felt that my swing was the same as it has been all year. I hit the range yesterday to try to get my straight/draw shot back but I still hit everything to the right. I am hoping this is a temporary lapse, I am playing again Wednesday night and I will hit the range Tuesday afternoon in preparation like I always do. But right now I am wondering... Should I go to the range today as well? Or should I take today off and forget about it? I know it is stupid but I have been thinking about it a lot since I left the range yesterday and I need to get my swing back!

How Much are your Balls Worth?
elivate replied to iacas's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I play these as well, I pay about $18 / dozen CDN for them... I really like them and they are a really good quality ball for the money. I did try out a Callaway HX Tour recently and I do have to say that I noticed the difference. What a nice feel! I am not quite in control of my swing enough right now to warrant the cost of them, though, but I will put the extra cash to good use for some lessons and once I get playing better I know I will want t use a better ball. It certainly does make a difference and those touchy shots around the green... or the short iron shots and bunker shots... -
I am not sure what the exchange and shipping rates would be from Canada, but you might want to try Golftown.com. They are a Canadian site and they sell the Callaway HX Tour for $49.95 / dozen... Nike Ones are the same price... Pro V1's are $56.95 / dozen... Srixon Z-URC are $49.95 as are the Bridgestone Tour B330's and the Taylor Made TP's As for the better quality value balls that reportedly have a soft feel they have the Maxfli Tour Fire for $34.95 / Dozen (I really want to try these) and the Titleist New NXT Tour for $38.95 / Dozen... The Callaway HX Hot are $29.95/ dozen... They also have Wilson Staff Tx4 Tour for $39.95 / Dozen... Anyway, here is a link... http://www.golftown.com/gtcommerce/s...-balls-C9.aspx

I am at 22.3 right now and I would say my knowledge of the golf swing would be 5.5

Titleist 775CB irons - to buy or not to buy?
elivate replied to ckelly06's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I know that the Cobra 2300 I/M irons are aimed at the mid - low handicapper. These are last years models so they should not be too expensive. I tried them last year and they felt great to me, but I chose to go with a little more game improvement because I am still a pretty high handicapper... I would try these if you can, I was impressed... http://www.edwinwattsgolf.com/golf-e...e=slisystemsSC -
Yes, I have this issue but things have turned around in a strange way for me lately. I seem to play better on the hard holes now and mess up on the "easy" holes. For example, yesterday I bogeyed the toughest hole on the course and then I birdied the second toughest hole... And on one of the easier holes, a medium distance par five I get an 8 This hole has a huge fairway and is the easiest driving hole on the course and I still managed to hit my drive o/b...

19 years old and need some new clubs! Newbie!
elivate replied to keykenny's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I love my Cleveland Launcher LP Irons... They are very easy to hit and very affordable for a good quality club... A set of 4-PW is only $248 CDN right now, so you should be able to get a great deal on a good set. I would recommend a hybrid as well, I have a hybrid 3 iron and it is really starting to work out for me... -
It's all about ball-striking... Moe Norman was one of the best ball-strikers ever and his swing was far from perfect.. See also Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Jim Furyk, etc...

What's The Farthest Golf Ball You Have Ever Hit?
elivate replied to RKO's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Maxfli D-Tec Extra Straight Distance http://www.golfreview.com/cat/balls/...6_2943crx.aspx A Very long ball... I hit a 318 yard drive with one this year... -
I think Zach Johnson has a real good chance, he hits the fairway and is in great control of his game...
-
I tried this ball on the weekend and I was impressed. It was only with me for a few holes, unfortunatley, but I could really tell the difference. I had a bunker shot that managed to hold on to the green and I know it would have been long gone with my regular Maxfli... It really is amazing the difference in feel, even to a higher handicapper like me... But I can't justify the cost at this stage in my game... I see that Maxfli now has a Tour version of their Fire balls that John Daly uses. They say they have a soft feel... Has anyone tried these? they are $15/dozen cheaper than the Callaways, I am going to give them a try because I have always really liked Maxfli balls...

I think it all really stems from the Tiger comparisons... She has not gone the same route that Tiger did, she has not won all of the tournaments that Tiger did at that age. She really has not gone out and won anything and for that she has been given $19 million... So there is bound to be a lot of backlash... Personally I think she is a great talent that could be the next dominant player on the LPGA tour. They certainly should have made an exception and allowed her to play as many events on the LPGA as she could qualify for or get exemptions in... I think that the LPGA as well as Michelle's "people" have made a lot of mistakes with her career to date and it is unfortunate...

My father-in-law is looking for a new set of irons, he has some hybrids already so he is not interested in a full set with hybrids... He also is not looking to spend too much... He is a high handicapper looking for a game improvement iron. We can get the Wilson Staff Di6 Irons for $248, seems like a pretty good price, but I don't know much abut them other than what I have read... We will try to get to a store to try them out but he does not play that much so he really isn't that concerned about a fitting... I know it is best to get them fit but what can you do... Anyway, I would love to hear any comments about these irons... Some other options in the same price range include: Nickent 3DX Irons - $298 Cleveland Launcher LP's - $248 Any input on any of these sets would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!

It really does seem that she is not choosing the best path for herself, as far as her golf career goes, anyway. Or her "handlers" are not... Money is not an issue, so maybe that is why there seems to be no hunger to go out and win. Give me $19 million when I was 17 and I would be a mess. How can you put in the hours of practice, travel and mental focus that it takes to compete at the highest level when you have almost been handed a free pass? I say almost because I know she had to work hard to get where she is, but now she really is being given every opportunity and she certainly is not making the most of any of it right now... I honestly had forgotten about Ty Tryon, that is a shame...
-
Well, one thing for sure is that I do not really like the overlap grip... maybe I was not doing it right but it feels like my left hand (I am right handed) is all that is on the club, and it feels like I only have about one finger of my right hand on the club, even though I have 3... Anyway, I will stick with interlock...
-
Is the vardon grip recommended for higher handicap players or does it matter? I have tried it at the range and it feels way too loose to me, I do not feel like I am going to be able to keep a hold of the club... But, when I swing I hit the ball ok, I just have to get over that loose "feeling" I suppose. With the interlock grip I tend to grip way too tight and I know it causes problems for me. I am hitting the range in about an hour and I plan on revisiting the vardon grip, would that be a good idea for someone who is about a 23-25 handicap? Does that matter? Thanks!

Wow she really doesn't want to play on the LPGA tour, does she!

Golf Digest Hotlist - from past years?
elivate replied to elivate's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Funny, my Redline is on that list... maybe it is a better club than I think... Could it be me?
