Offset irons and "quick wrists"
ApocG10 replied to tpcollins's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I had offset irons (PING G10's), and I hated them. I mean truly and totally hated them. Not a strong dislike or irritation, but outright hatred. But, different strokes for different folks. -
TaylorMade Prepping to produce Non-Conforming Clubs
ApocG10 replied to mvmac's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
There are already plenty f non conforming clubs out there. They are all well marked as such so that they can't be missed. I dunno what TM's will look like, bu why should anyone care as long as nobody is using them foranything but their own enjoyment. -
Golfingdad Iacas Zipazoid BPLewis Jamo Picking 5 was hard. Edit, I was supposed to pick 3, wasn't I? Screw it, I stick by my decision, 2 threesomes.

No need to say more. I think Tiger did pretty well with the ladies over the years.

I'm sure its been said, but my number one tip is that there is no number one tip. No one thing will make you a better golfer. Only hard work on every aspect of your game can do that.

I believe it was a 5w roll in to the cup on a par 4. I know i have the ball marked and put away somewhere.

Cousrses disagree with you, at least here. Every person is entitled to 2 hours per 9, 205 on the back 9 at my home course, single, double, or foursome. Fivesomes are barred, unless the course is extremely empty, they they will make exemptions, especially if its a fivesome of tourists. But if the club is busy, no way, no how. And you cannot sign up a 5some on the online sign up board.

Anchored Putters Rules Change (Effective January 1, 2016)
ApocG10 replied to mvmac's topic in Rules of Golf
All of my dads irons are the same length, and quite upright so he can always make the same stance, and no, he cannot make a full swing anymore. More 3/4 back, 3/4 forward. It bothers him, because he has always been athletic, but he does what he needs to play. Anyway, none of that has anything to do with the idea that my dad could care less about USGA/CPGA rules. If it wasn't a part of membership, I doubt he would even join either organization. He desn't play the game for the reasons many of us do. THats why he loves to watch me compete, because he can't. -
Anchored Putters Rules Change (Effective January 1, 2016)
ApocG10 replied to mvmac's topic in Rules of Golf
Didi you also have a cancerous growth pushing against your spine removed in an operation that could have left you paralyzed? Not all back injuries are equal (and not saying yours isn't). -
If I see a glaring mistake, I will ask them if they want a tip. Im usually the best in any random group I play, and they generall are happy to hear what I have to say. But its always minor adjustment, something easy t pick up on and fix. I never go into deep details unless someone politely asks me to.

OP sounds like he stretched a tendon, which is dangerous, though its not torn it can. Continuing to play while experiencing this is a very immature thing to do ALways think of your body first. Let it heal, then come back and play better golf. Continue what your doing, and you tear that ligament, and you will never have the same feeling or strength you previously had, ever again. Not to mention the painful and not overly successful ligament re-attachment surgery. So ya, keep playing while you figure it out.

Anyone Uses a Scotty Cameron Teryllium Newport?
ApocG10 replied to dragonflyin's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have two Scotty putters, and while I like them, neither of them come close to being as perfect as my Seemore Si-4. Perfect for me that is, I realize im just one person. I do believe Scotty's to be overpriced, and their usefulness to be greatly over-exaggerated though. Great putters, but the myth is better than the reality. My next putter will be a fitted Edel. My brother uses one of my Scotty's, so I guess I have one, since I would never ask for it back, and he likes it a lot. I just haven't officially given it to him yet. I like to make him sweat, so I mention once in a while that I may start using it again. I won't, but I like the way his eyes droop when I mention it, hehhehe. -
Anchored Putters Rules Change (Effective January 1, 2016)
ApocG10 replied to mvmac's topic in Rules of Golf
Oh, I know that, but at 56, and when he will never be turning in a card, (he never has, he plays for fun) I doubt he will ever stop anchoring because a governing body he has nothing to do with tells him he shouldn't. He doesn't ever compete, bet, or anything like that. Golf is a twice a week fun time for him, he doesn't take it as seriously as most of us do. He follows the rules to the best of his abilities in most areas, but he isn't gonna give up anchoring because USGA says he should. Neither will the rest of his 55+ yo friends who play with him on sunday morning. Tuesdays he plays with my brother and I, and my dads best friend. Thats his weekly golf, and they rarely even keeps score, let alone hand in cards. I mark his scores when we play, but he has never once asked what his score was. I have to say though, now that I bought him the Scotty broomstick putter, he is a better putter than he has ever been before (after getting used to it). So yes, I do think they give an advantage and should be gone from the PGA, Euro, and mini-tours forever. -
Glad we rarely have pine to deal with in this area. Some large spruce, but this part of the province is dominated by hardwoods (Oak, maple, birch), the only softwood we have alot of is poplar, and since it grows in swamps, it is very unlikely to see any of them around a golf course. We do have our problems with Maple seeds in the fall though, those helicopter blade looking things that fall from our massive amounts of hardwood in the area.

The scumbag is the one insulting others for asking a question about care and maintenance of his clubs, to be sure he was not breaking any rules.

Ball mark rules are a headache at some courses, especially one I play at where there is a sign near the first green that says "Respect our greens. Always fix your ball mark, as well as two others if possible, when coming on to the green. It will be appreciated by all. Signed Respectfully, The Membership." Local rules, I know, but because of that sign, this course has some of the most well cared for greens in the area.

I wouldn't, they suck. I would get Edels if you can afford them and have a fitter nearby. Otherwise, the Cleveland 588's are among the best wedges I've used. Vokeys are also fantastic, but as much as I LOVE my Ci11's, the wedges made to go with the set are horrid, horrid wedges. Wilson Staff does make some very nice looking wedges though, but I forget the model name, and have never used them. Wedges are very personal, like putters, you need what is right for you.

Tiger has never done steroids. His body/look is completely natural, and achieved through the maturity of muscle from a lifetime of training. As he got older, he put on mor muscle slowly, that is completely natural. See my pic of myself in the Keegan Bradley thread. That is from low doses of healthy (Testosterone and Human Growth Hormone) steroids, and I am a monster compared to any Tour golfer. Tigers body is a combination of great genetics, and an intense weight training program mixed with an excellent diet. Hard work, nothing more. Its hard for lazy people to believe that others are capable of the hard work it requires to get into the shape a guy like Tiger is in. As far as Bradley, again, his slump has nothing to do with weights. The guy put on maybe 15 pounds, and is no less flexible (look at his past and current swings) then he was before. His game is in the dumps because of his head, not his body. To me, Tigers legacy will be that of the greatest golfer of all time, in an era where the competition has been much, much better than any previous generation before now. At the beginning of Tigers career, the best players, barring one or two, would not make the top 50 today. Nicklaus did not have near the level of competition that Tiger does, and yes i've watched lots of his rounds. Nicklaus had one or two guys who could play at that level at any given time. Tiger is up against at least 30 every week who can play at that level. Golf is more than Majors, and 7 wins in 2 seasons (with this season only half finished) shows just how dominant he is. Tiger will win more majors, and once he does, it will be just like before, he will lose that weekend nerve because he's done it, and will go back to winning 20% of the majors he plays in. It amazes me that people talk like Tigers career is over. He has 10 years of Major winning golf in him, as long as he stays in shape, and I cant see him ever letting himself and his body go to hell.

So why not hit driver off the tee if the fairway is wide. If you drive well, you will be in the fairway. Too many people focus on the hazards when they play, imo. Don't even consider them. look at the fairway, aim for the fairway, ignore the hazards. If you keep the bunkers in your head, thats where you will put it.
-
Money or muscles. If you don't have one, build the other and the women will follow. I think Webb Simpson will win it this weekend.

Isn't Justin Rose a Foley student? Or am I mistaken? Either way, I had respect for Haney before his book, now I think he's just an attention ***** who needs the spotlight to feel important.

Sorry for taking it so off topic. I took the challenge presented a little too personal. I think Bradley is just in a slump. He'll win a tournament this year or next, an post some good finishes, and everyone will forget all this.

What ball(s) is in your bag?
ApocG10 replied to CentralFC's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
No real assortment. I play the Penta TP5 almost exclusively. Though I have a couple of boxes of 20XI-S balls, and will take a sleeve of them once in a while. I rarely lose a ball, so once I open a sleeve, they are what i'm playing for 3 rounds with. After 18 holes, the ball is either thrown out or thrown in my practice ball pail. But the Penta TP5 is the best ball i'veevr used. Nothing else I have touched compares, ot the ProV1, not the Q-star, or the 20XI, or Tour One. None of the come close. The Penta is longer off the Tee, better around the green, and feels perfect off the putter. It is my go to ball.
