  1. As an “old, fat, terrible golfer” I resent that remark.
  2. That ball is like a unicorn. I’ll believe it when I see one. I am playing Snell Get Sum and On Core Avant right now. Those are good enough for me and at the right price point.
  3. As someone who is just getting back into the game after a couple of decades I appreciate having a fun par 3 course nearby. My goal this year is to play at least one par 70-72 course a month. And that might be tough. However I have enough time on most Sunday mornings to play the par 29 Brea Creek course and get home before noon. There are two holes that I can hit driver or 3 wood off the tee, with a few other challenging par 3s over the creek. This is how I get my golf fix between “real” rounds. Since I need as much work on my short game as anything else this is great. I can work on my drives and long game at the range.
  4. I just started playing regularly again last year after stopping in the 1990s. So essentially I am starting over. Since I was a high handicapper to begin with there is really no point in getting frustrated for me. First I want to work on my game and TRY to improve. But mostly I just want to play. Local muni and par 3 courses are sufficient. Maybe if I improve enough I’ll do a Palm Springs or San Diego trip and play a really nice course.
  5. I replaced my 12 year old no name custom irons with a new set of no name custom irons about 3 months ago.
  6. Mine kept quitting on me if I got too far from the cart path. Once I was ON the cart path and it warned me to get back to it.
  7. I played today and my cart had a gps. It was fairly helpful, especially inside of 120 yards. That being said, I would prefer if they jus had some easy to see yardage markers on the course.
  8. My first round of 18 in 2018 was on my home course, and it was brutal. Well north of 100. It was a solo practice round to work on my new grip, but discouraging never the less. I just started taking lessons so I need to work out the changes that my instructor recommended. That’s hard, especially when I was hitting the ball fairly straight though not very long with my old mechanics. Only time (and the range) will tell if these changes improve my game at all.
  9. Well done Gipper. I hope to do the same this year.
  10. That’s a good plan if the slopes are nice. Since I don’t ski I want to use this time to work on my game before the season officially kicks in.
  11. From the album: tehuti’s pix

    Gigagolf 50* gap wedge.
  12. I agree. Older models already have a track record, and the technology doesn’t change too much from one year to the next.
  13. My list is longer than I initially thought: 1. Take lessons. I have already bought a 3 lesson set with my local instructor and I just need to get started 2. Fix my putting. Way too many 3 putts. 3. Focus on my chipping. I waste at least one or two strokes every time I have to chip onto ( or past, in my case) the green. 4. Tame my 3 and 4 hybrids. I can’t hit them with any confidence and that puts a big hole in my game between 3 wood and 5 iron. 5. Learn to hit my 3 wood off the deck. I love hitting it off the tee and dread having to use it in the fairway. 6. Play at least 1 round of 18 a month. 7. Break 100 consistently. 8. Have fun.
  14. I wouldn’t do it. Even though I don't play tourney gof what would be the point? There’s no one I am trying to impress and I would know it’s not a legitimate distance gain.
  15. If I can straighten out my swing I am guessing pretty much anyone can. For me, I had a major breakthrough since picking up a SKLZ Gold Flex swing trainer. ( similar to an Orange Whip) By using it for a few minutes a day I am learning to focus on my swing TEMPO. It seems to work. I am swinging with the same tempo consistently and am slicing a lot less. This may not be what you need to fix your slice, but it is something to consider.
  16. I played 9 holes today and had zero touch on the greens. Easily could have shaved 5 strokes off my score by 2 putting.
