  1. Yeah this is pretty similar to what I did and no one is to blame except myself with how uneducated I was at the time of the fitting. I legitimately did the complete opposite of what I believe most of us should do, I went for equipment first vs going for lessons.
  2. I started playing Golf again last year after a long time away from it. Jumped the gun and went straight to a "big box" fitter style store and got new irons without doing my homework. The swing I went into that store with is not the swing I have today but I walked out of that store with TaylorMade M5s at 3 degrees flat. They aren't the strongest lofted irons on the market but they are lofted stronger, anyway long story short is I bought some Titleist 620 MBs a few months ago with standard lie angle. I only bought PW-8i to start with on the MBs but I'm going to be buying more and blend the set with the 620 CBs. These irons have a level of consistency to them that I love.
  3. My entire view on equipment fittings has changed in the last year as I've worked on my own game and have experimented with different irons. My advice is get whatever irons gives you the most consistency in accuracy and distance.
  4. JT is way too competitive for it to not happen again. Not a problem for me at all.
  5. I was happy to see Bryson get right there at a shot to win with everything he's been working on. I was also happy to see Finau play loose/free compared to his other Sunday finishes where he seemed to play too safe. I'd been hoping all day that the 16th hole would decide winner and it truly did and what an incredible shot it was, well deserved for Morikawa and Bryson was really close to getting a eagle on 16 as well. Overall was really awesome golf to watch.
  6. That seems like a low number for most Tour guys..probably was a mis-hit of some sort.
  7. 56 minutes and counting until ESPN+ coverage starts. Hypeeeeeeeee
  8. To all the other guys on the forum that game blades or muscle-backs at what point in the longer irons did you feel it was best to hit a CB instead? 4i, 5i, 6i?
  9. Are you trying to say that Tiger was never as good as it was made out to be and his accomplishments are whatever because he was playing against a bunch of chumps compared to today's field?????
  10. Anyone else catch what Brooks did yesterday? Purposely hitting that drive into the water on 18 so he could carry a chip on his shoulder going into this week? Pretty calculated to be honest!!
  11. Rahm handled all of that really well.
  12. How do you type this out and then hit submit as a 17 handicap? I browse these forums and several subs on reddit and this takes first place for being the dumbest advice I've ever seen. Congrats on that.
  13. I'm 33 and this is my second year back after a 10 year break. Played from about age 10 or 11 to about 21 off and on through school. I've had 3 total lessons, one from way back before I stopped playing and two since I started playing again last year and I plan to keep taking lessons!
  14. This one has been on my radar. I like the price point of this one. Back in my hunting days Leupold were known for their superior clarity, notice any difference with the Bushnell vs your old Leupold?
  15. I know we have a lot of avid golfers here so let me hear all of your thoughts? I would prefer to get something that is going to last a LONG time and is built very well.
  16. I think I am going to be eating my own words judging from how this Charity Exhibition is going...Finau is destroying the ball off the tee with his full swing!! LOL!
  17. It'll be tougher this week and now that the Workday Open is over let's take a look at a few things.... 51 players who made the cut finished at below -10. 16 players who made the cut finished at -10 or better. 1st and 2nd place finished at -19. 3rd place was 4 strokes behind 1st and 2nd place at -15. I think the course was tough enough and the guys who played well definitely separated themselves from the rest of the field. It's not like 50% of the field are murdering the golf course and all in contention at -20 or better. If these kind of scores bother you then do yourself a favor and never watch the Korn Ferry Tour.
  18. Second year update since playing again. After watching my "face on" swing I suspected that I may get a little scoopy or flippy on my bad shots. I've been playing good lately while focusing on getting forward shaft lean and keeping my hands in front of the club through impact. I've fired off a 76, 77, 73 and 75 focusing on this. The 73 was/is my all time best and low score and it easily could have been a round below par. I've been quietly working on stuff and been getting a feeling that I was going to go low soon and it feels good seeing it all come together. I'm not sure what the swing looks like right now while focusing on this but maybe I'll get around to getting some fresh video and comparing them soon.
  19. Bet we don't see him swing this way one single time while playing in a tournament.
  20. BD - "Sir if you continue following me this closely I will not be able to contain the Kraken when he wants to show up" Camera Bro - "Rolls eyes and continues following" Then Bryson calmly has a conversation with camera bro explaining to him that their isn't anything he can do if the Kraken wants to be unleashed. I imagine BD politely asked camera bro if he wanted to "catch these hands" as well, obviously camera bro declined.
  21. I think it's realistic, not exaggerated. We already know other players out there are impressed by what he's doing but I'm not buying it that they are gonna all go off and chase distance in the way that Bryson is. We might see some guys like Molinari/Fowler make some swing changes to hit it a bit further but I'll go on the record right now saying you ain't gonna see no one else put in the work that Bryson has, no one else is going to transform their body to handle them swinging literally as hard as they possible can. It's too risky and most people don't have the drive that Bryson does. Disagree. We've already had people such as Rory come out and say that they feel their best when they are "lighter". 10-20 years down the road we are absolutely NOT going to see the average weight on tour being 240lbs of lean-ish muscle mass and everyone swinging out of their shoes. We'll see how the rest of the year goes but I really don't see junior coaches convincing kids parents that because ONE dude on Tour (who by the way literally plays the game differently than anyone else) is the blueprint to follow and they have to start gaining mass now and eating 6-8k calories a day to get a Division 1 scholorship. Too much for me...way too much.
  22. I don't think we go anywhere with the debate. It's ONE (very unique) guy doing something that I would wager the rest of the PGA Tour have absolutely ZERO interest in doing/maintaining. Who else is going to work as hard as Bryson has in the gym? Who else is going to force feed themselves 6-8 times a day to hit the high caloric intake needed to maintain the amount of mass he's put on? Who else has the IQ to even do what he's doing? I'm just not buying into this whole "BrYsOn iS cHaNgInG" how golf will be played thing. I'm in the camp of thinking that Bryson will go down in golf history as being a very unique and determined individual who played the game how he wanted. I also think the debate of modified equipment is dumb. What are they going to do, make a golf ball for all the 280-300 guys to still let them hit that distance and then make a different golf ball for increments of 10/20 yards for the rest so that they are tuned back down to 280-300? Then make "SuPeR" special balls for guys like Rory, Champ, Wolff, etc? Then on top of that are they going to make a "SuPeR dUpEr" special ball for the Kraken Slaying God of a Man himself AKA BRYSON "THE HOUSE" DeCHAMBEAU??? Give me a break...
  23. Recently had a similar experience. I finally upgraded from my old TaylorMade Burner Driver to a Titleist TS2. The shaft on my Burner was some feather light 55g shaft and I had a 1/2" taken off of it so it was super light. I also upgraded from my old Mizuno 3W to a Titleist TS2 3w and the shaft on the Mizuno was a 75g shaft and I actually went through a phase of primarly using the 3w off the tee because I hit it just as far as the Burner, I just felt like it was heavier and had some ass to it vs the Burner. So since covid was/is full effect I pulled the trigger and custom ordered my Titleist Driver and 3w with Hzrdus Smoke Black 70g shafts without getting fitted. Really pleased with the result!
  24. Always preferred a wood shape over the hybrids but I know hybrids are really good clubs. I'm leaning towards the 5w because I hit the ts2 3w really well.
  25. All of this but primarily approach shots. Seem to find myself in that 220ish yardage quite often on several of the courses I play and I'll always pull the 4i to play the short miss vs the 3wood miss that goes long.
