  1. Thanks. This is actually a much better description. I'm not actively lifting my heel it's more that I'm no longer consciously keeping it down. As a result it's coming up a bit and I'm getting to a better position at the top.
  2. Umm, I'm not asking for opinions on the results. I understand that not everything on the range translates to the course. I'm asking for opinions on whether or not you believe it's ok for the left heel to come up. Thank you for actually answering the question I asked. That's interesting that your instructor gave you that advise. I'm not the same student of the game that I was in my prime 20 years ago but it was always kind of frowned upon then.
  3. I've always had a strong aversion to the left heel coming off the ground. When I would see other do it I felt very cringy. Thanks to some injuries and some extra lbs, I've been having trouble getting my hands into the right position at the top of my backswing. I've flared my right foot a little and it helped some but not enough. I randomly decided to try lifting my left heel a little while hitting a bucket at the range. The results were dramatic. What do you think about the practice of lifting the left heel?
  4. I killed a goose with a really hot, low 3-wood shot off the tee. I couldn't even retrieve my ball because like 30 more geese had it surrounded and were going nuts and honking at me when I would try to get close.

    "One, ha ha ha!"

See. There you go. Bring some new material to the table and it's all good. To me the "one" joke is right up there with "thats what she said" as the most annoying, played out jokes. Me: Get in the HOLE! Some Jackass: That's what she said. UGGHHH

    "One, ha ha ha!"

You MUST hit the next ball from the tee. To remove it from the tee would require that you touch a ball that is "in play" which would be a penalty.

    "One, ha ha ha!"

No, it's only on the tee shot. I align the logo of the ball on my target line as many people do with putts. Then approach the ball from behind and use my club to spin the ball on the tee if I need to adjust the line. So it's not as though I'm hitting the ball with a waggle at address or anything.

    "One, ha ha ha!"

It doesn't matter if they are saying it to me or somebody else, it's just such an old "joke" that it just can't be funny. And why in the world would I change my pre-shot routine?
  9. I put a Wynn Jumbo Lite on my putter and it feels amazing. Putting has always been a strength of mine but I have been so lights out on the short puts with the jumbo grip that my playing partners routinely offer to "gimme" 3.5 & 4 footers. The combination of the big grip with my soft-faced STX Envision putter is pure GOLD.
  10. Why is there a moron in every group that has to say "One" and then laugh when you knock the ball off the tee? It's so freaking annoying and with my pre-shot routine I knock the ball off the tee at least once or twice a round.
  11. I don't think they are "self-proclaimed" as the best. They are the best.
  12. I'm no longer a single digit player but when I was, it was purely from short game practice. I chipped into hula hoops or trash cans in the yard. I would flop shots over my kids' swing set. I would play "bocci" with golf balls with my friends. At my best, I shot a 71 with one GIR. If my approach game had ever been on par with my short game and driving, I would have been scratch but as it was I peaked at around 7.
  13. A frustrating 39. Par, Par, Par, Birdie, Par, Triple, Double, Par, Par. Back to back tee shots completely in jail.
  14. People in the other groups rarely do anything to bother me. However, I did play on a league for a few years with a partner that drove me bonkers. He never played "ready golf". He'd sit in the cart while I hit my shot even if his ball was just 20 yards away. He should have been choosing a club or walking to his ball to size up his shot or something but he'd wait until I hit and then I'd have to drive him to his ball. Then after his shot he'd stand behind the cart and clean his grooves and spit on his club and take all day to get back in. The worst thing he did though was he would never an
  15. I went to get some clubs re-gripped yesterday and ended up ordering a set of custom irons. Does anyone have experience with the KZG XCB irons or KZG in general? I hit several demos in the cage including a few of the cast models and the forged blades (which felt amazing on the pure hits).
  16. I had 1997 Top Flite Tour Mid-Size and I think they were a bit more lofted. I'm pretty sure the PW was 47 or 48 vs 45 which more standard for a current PW.
  17. You have to be able to break up pairings that aren't working and ride hot players etc... I don't think you can set things in stone like that before the matches even begin. For example, if Pavin had done that, there is no way that he would have chosen Cink/Kuchar to play all five matches.
  18. With the Ryder Cup upon us, we will be seeing a lot of fist pumping this weekend. This had me asking myself who the best and worst fist pumpers have been over the years. For me: Best - Sergio Garcia w/ Tiger Woods getting Honorable Mention Worst - David Duval
  19. It rarely even leave my trunk. I can't imagine it would ever make a regular appearance in my bag again.
  20. The style is fine. I kinda like the throwback look. However, I think they should be wearing Red, White & Blue everyday. If I were captain, I'd find a way to incorporate our colors into every outfit.
  21. I like all those movies. Tin Cup would probably be my favorite except for the hokey ending. I just don't like that he made a 12 on the 72nd hole. I don't care that he lost but nobody would keep trying to hit that shot in the US Open. Caddyshack had an equally hokey ending but it was a hokey movie so it's acceptable. I guess this would be my Top 3: 1. The Legend of Bagger Vance 2. The Greatest Game Ever Played 3. Tin Cup
  22. Maybe this is why I can't get consistent. I've played less than 30 rounds this year and hit less than 500 balls on the range.
  23. Get there early to putt. There's a good chance that you won't be prepared for how fast the greens are.
  24. It's not my career low round but it's a pretty good story. I used to have a client that would come into my bank a few times a week. We'd always talk golf, tell each other what we shot that week etc... Well, after more than a year of talking golf, we finally got a chance to play together. On the first tee I hit the ugliest duck hook ever into a greenside bunker on the next hole over. It took me two shots to get out of the bunker. I basically looked like a complete hack on my way to a nice round 10 on the first hole. I was so embarrassed because he was probably thinking that I'd been ly
