LPGA Player Erica Blasberg Found Dead at 25
Cleveland Gunmetal replied to atrapasuenos's topic in Tour Talk
Ahhh man, just so sad. -
It's stupid. Now, I don't mind it as long as it applies, ie the player hits a put that seems to be tracking or a chip that is on line, etc. But yelling this when a player hits a tee shot is just dumb.

Who's Better? The Golfer or the Caddy
Cleveland Gunmetal replied to mrprovisional's topic in Golf Talk
The golfer... They may rely on the caddy but that doesn't mean they can't figure out what to hit, etc on their own. There's a reason the golfer is the golfer and the caddy is, uhhh, not. And you're assuming the caddy is a near scratch player. -
Tiger gets heckled by a 7 year old.......
Cleveland Gunmetal replied to HoosierGolfer's topic in Golf Talk
Wow. Such harsh comments. I just don't see the big deal. Did I read the wrong article? I have to admit, when I read the title I was expecting much worse than that. For entertainment purposes, it was a bit of a let down Sure, it wasn't a nice thing to say and this is a gentleman's game. But Tiger Woods is golf and let's just say he's not the biggest gentleman. -

Cleveland Gunmetal replied to HoosierGolfer's topic in Golf Talk
Yep, exactly. That kid acted/said no worse than Tiger does on any given day. -
yeah, but people were saying that about Clark after he squandered chance after chance. I still think it'll happen for Westwood. Maybe not a major, I don't know, but definitely a notable PGA event. Congrats to Clark. Was nice to see him finally pull through.

The Players is a major - the Masters isn't
Cleveland Gunmetal replied to The Recreational Golfer's topic in Tour Talk
And here I was thinking the Masters was my favorite tournament to watch. The back 9 on Sunday is always exciting. I get "that feeling" every time it starts, being the first major and all. Matter of fact, I don't think I've ever talked to anyone who didn't have the Masters rated in their top 2. Some prefer the British, some love watching the tough conditions at the US Open but everyone I've talked to has put the Masters after their Open of choice. PGA would be the one I often hear of compared to the Players. Anyways, I really don't care if it's a championship for anything, etc. I care about my entertainment and pure enjoyment of the tourmanent. 1. Masters 2. US Open 3. British Open 4. PGA 5. Players -
what wedges are in your bag?
Cleveland Gunmetal replied to Dr. Slice's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've got a AP1 PW & GW and old Cleveland 588 Gunmetal 56 and 60. The 60 is in great shape but the 56 is way past it's prime. Have been contemplating switching to Vokeys but I've got higher priorities right now. -
Was going to post this anyways but the "Scotty Cameron Family" thread has me even more curious. How would you rank these 5? Is the Studio Select the best? I like the Newport 2 head or the #3 in the Circa 62. What would be your best Cameron OTR putter ever made? 1. Studio Select 2. Studio Style 3. Studio Stainless 4. Pro Platinum 5. Circa 62

Scotty Cameron Family
Cleveland Gunmetal replied to GolfinGQ's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've got a Studio Style Newport 2 that I'm using right now. Aside from a mini slump not too long ago I've been putting well with it. Still, I'm contemplating a change to either; Studio Select, Studio Stainless, maybe a Circa #3 or something older if I can find it, like a Pro Platinum. I like the Newport 2 head. -
Is this a custom Studio Stainless?
Cleveland Gunmetal replied to Cleveland Gunmetal's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It doesn't? Try this one. Thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/Scotty-Cameron-S...item27b1817fc1 -
I love Scotty Cameron putters, but...

Wow, thanks for the help!!! Yep, that's the one. -

Funny that I stumble upon this thread as I just lost my headcover on the course the other day. Ebay is frusterating and it appears the headcover I need is out of stock at www.scottycameron.com . Sigh. Any other sites worth checking out? -
Probably nothing. But, if I've got to ask something, there are the obvious questions but I'd probably roll with, "Are you playing Bay Hill?" Just got my tickets so I'm curious...

Yeah, I wasn't sure on the time table of Matteson since I tend to shut down my golf viewing after the now FedEx cup. And when I wrote that I was for some reason thinking of his 2006 win of the very same golf tournament you reference. 4 shots better in 2006 so I guess he's regressed... We'll see where he is with the S&T; a year from now. LOL. Excellent point. Agreed. Good point (no sarcasm). And for the record I am a supporter, or at the very least, a non hater of the S&T.;
-
I think I have replies throughout this thread but the more I think of this (and use my Cameron) the more I think they are worth it and then some. Buy a $300 Cameron and you're good for a decade. Buy a $400 driver and you'll want another one in a couple years. Besides, why wouldn't the club you use the most, and has the single biggest impact on your score be worth it?
-
S&T; does seem to have an immediate impact on some players who then have difficulty maintaining the same success. Tim Herron, Baddeley, and I believe Dean Wilson all won right away after switching (or talking to Andy and Mike). Troy Matteson too, I think. But none of those guys seem to be doing a whole lot right now. I do wonder about the long term success of the S&T.; I do agree that players probably take a part or two of S&T; and employ it to their current swing and Andy and Mike don't get the credit for that. And this is the PGA Tour; why do players switch swing coaches, putters, drivers, club manufacturers, caddies, etc etc, just the nature of it I guess.

As long as Ian Poulter continues to play golf, I doubt this thread will die (unless a new one is started). Whenever I watch him for an extended period of time, or I guess whenever he's on camera for more than just a few shots, ie in contention, he does something to remind me how much of an ass he really seems to be. And once again, he acted like a dick with the whole drop situation vs Sergio Garcia at the match play and I was immediately reminded of this thread. Jerk.
-
For some reason I really like Anthony Kim this week. Others: Mickelson, Villegas, Ogilvy, Holmes, and Toms, who has a pretty good track record here. Poulter is one to watch too and I think he'll have a solid week but he might be too tired/high from his big win.

Will Steve Stricker win a major this year?
Cleveland Gunmetal replied to golf1234's topic in Tour Talk
I voted no. He's been shaky with the lead on Sundays before in a non major, I just can't see him finishing off the big one. I hope I'm wrong though as I'd love to see him get one. He's playing great. -
Why is it recommended to err soft on shafts?
Cleveland Gunmetal replied to jrm1493's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It's probably recommended to avoid over-swinging. Nice smooth swing, let the club do the work, etc etc. Get fitted. -
Who knows what Phil Mickelson will show up in 2010. This isn't the first time he's gone on a dominating run like this but he usually loses it at some point due to various reasons. We'll probably get a mix. I do think the Tiger fear factor is much lower than it's been in the past but that's not something a stretch of dominating wins can't fix. I think 2010 will be a competitive year. Not just with Phil and Tiger but a good core of top tier golfers now but in the end I'd be shocked if Tiger weren't still #1, and with a sizeable lead too.

Titleist 775CB or Mizuno MX-25
Cleveland Gunmetal replied to Cleveland Gunmetal's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Thanks for all the great comments. Lots of really good clubs out there and some good deals too. Looked at the MX-25, MX-200, Titleist 775 and even the 755. All good sticks. I think I might go with the Titleist AP1 though. I just read through the field tests and reviews (great info guys!), anyone play the AP1 that can compare to the other Titleists listed above and Mizunos? More forgiving? -
It could be just that you concentrate more on the golf course. I know for me it's easy to get on the range and just beat balls and lose focus. Whenever I do that I'll eventually start hitting it very poorly. Maybe try playing the course per say on the range instead of hitting driver after driver after driver without much purpose.
