  2. Hey All, first time poster here. I recently replaced a decade old Burner (10.5 degree, stiff) with a Ping Anser (9.5 adjustable, stiff) and I'm considering an extra stuff shaft. I've never changed out a driver shaft and don't know where to start. What brands/features/elements should I look for? I don't know my swing speed but I can get 300+ yards of ball flight with either club depending on tee height. The Ping rolls better, though. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
  3. https://thesandtrap.com/b/bag_drop/ping_introduces_g_series I'd like to highlight three shots I've hit with this crazy club: A 255-yard shot to the back of the green on a par five: http://www.gamegolf.com/player/iacas/round/920818?hole_id=24154647 A 246-yard shot, again to the back of the green on a par five: http://www.gamegolf.com/player/iacas/round/904167?hole_id=23940413 A 240-yard shot - my first, actually, ever with this club, to the back of the green on a par three: http://www.gamegolf.com/player/iacas/round/873212?hole_id=23559704 I got the club hoping to replace my 3I, perhaps… but the club is replacing my hybrid or, perhaps, even my 3-wood. Crazy, crazy distance!!!
  4. Yesterday I went to Miles of Golf in Ypsilanti for a driver fitting. My first fitting experience. I told the fitter, Adam that I wanted to have my current driver (R11) fitted because if bought it used years ago and thought the shaft was too long. Turns out I was right. He fitted me for 44.75" shaft. He also had me hitting a new a Ping G driver further than my current driver by about 30 yards further (215/185). He fit me for the sf Tec regular flex to cure my over the top slice. My question for the wise users of tst is could I get away with buying the G30 used on eBay with the same specs of sf Tec, regular shaft and have it cut down? I'm a frugal soul and spending $400 on a driver is a lot for a guy that tries to find a happy medium between function and value. Or maybe I should just fix my swing and keep my current driver the R11. I've already adjusted the angle to 10°, like the ping was set at. The weights were adjust set for a slicer. Thoughts?
  5. I have decided to sell my 2 iron/hybrid. I bought it earlier this season but after hitting it at the range a few times, it turns out that the yardage does not scale well with the rest of my clubs. This is a pretty good club if you are looking for something shorter than a 3 wood off the tee, but longer than an iron. It has a (stiff) graphite shaft which makes it easy to get the ball elevated from the fairway as well. The shaft length and lie is comparable to that of a standard 3 iron. Loft: 18* Shaft: TFC 949 Stiff flex Grip: Golf Pride Tour Velvet (new) Ball flight: Mid-Low Practically no signs of wear and tear. I have not sold on this forum yet, but I prefer paypal. I am asking for $135.00 on ebay, but feel free to shoot me a number as I am more willing to make a deal with a TST member. As always, questions are welcomed. http://www.ebay.com/itm/262392421899
  6. Predict the Winner of the 2016 Masters with The Sand Trap and PING! Who do you think will WIN the Masters in 2016 and what SCORE will they shoot? PLEASE READ the rules thoroughly. Each year people are disqualified for simple mistakes. To enter, post your answer right here in this thread along with the text "PING is going to help me be fast and forgiving with the new G Driver and Crossover!" Your answer must also include a 2nd and 3rd choice. You are NOT predicting who will finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd; you are picking three players to win and the score(s) they will shoot. The first choice carries tremendous weight (see the rules below for more), while the second and third choices exist simply in case we don't have a winner selected by anyone's first selection. The first-place winner will win a custom PING G Driver! The second-place winner will win a custom PING G Crossover! The Rules: - All qualifying entries must be received no later than April 6, 2016 at Midnight eastern time zone (New York City). - Winners will be notified within 24 hours of the completion of The 2016 Masters and will have 48 hours to claim their prize. - You must be a registered member of The Sand Trap in good standing. - You must be a legal resident of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and aged eighteen (18) or older as of the date of entry. - Your answer must include the visible and bold text "PING is going to help me be fast and forgiving with the new G Driver and Crossover!", the FULL NAME (first and last, for the purposes of proper and unique identification) and the score in relation to par (+2, -4, E, etc.) of the player you are predicting to win the 2016 Masters, as well as your 2nd and 3rd choices (same rules apply - full name, score in relation to par). - The Winner will be selected as the first person in the contest to correctly pick both the winner and the score. The runner up will be the second person to correctly pick the winner and score or be the first person to pick closest to the winner/score. - One entry per person and per household. Any additional entries or modifications invalidate all entries. - If we suspect fraud of any kind - suspicious multiple entries, for example - we reserve the right to award the prize to the next valid entry in the order established above. Details regarding the red, underlined rule: - It's very simple guys. The winner is the first person (who satisfies the other rules) to choose the correct winner and score with their first choice. If nobody picks the correct score, the winner is the first person to have the closest score for the correct winner. If nobody chooses the correct winner with their first choice, we repeat the process for everyone's second choice, and then the third. - In other words, if someone chooses Joe Smith for their first choice - at any score - and you choose him for your second choice, you've wasted your choice. Additionally, if someone chooses Joe Smith at -2 for their first choice, it makes no sense to choose Joe Smith at -2 for any of your choices if you're posting after that entry (unless the person is DQed or ineligible, of course). - Think of your picks like draft picks. Your second and third choices should be someone you don't think will be chosen in the first "round." The Prizes: First: Custom PING G Driver Winner gets to choose stock shaft, flex, loft. Second: Custom PING G Crossover Winner gets to choose stock shaft, flex, loft. Winners will have 48 hours to claim their prize after being notified.. Again, please read the details about how to go about entering the contest and picking players. Don't pick top ten players for your 2nd and 3rd picks. Example for this contest would look like this PING is going to help me be fast and forgiving with the new G Driver and Crossover! 1) Jordan Spieth -36 2) Bill Haas -36 3) Vijay Singh -36
  7. Thanks for taking the time to read this, Currently playing off 11.3 (CONGU) and have a set of Ping g15's in the bag, have had for a few years, when I bought them I got the static fitting and then tweaked with a bit of dynamic fitting too, when I bought them launch monitors weren't really as popular as they are now, id never used one until a few years later. Anyway, im thinking its time for an upgrade as when I bought them originally I was playing off 17 and many moons and lessons later im down at 11 and my clubs are looking a bit dated and rusty. Im liking the look of the new Ping g's and the AP1/AP2 (AP2 are a bit pricey to be honest). Anyone hit any of the above, im open to suggestions too! I will be getting fit for them soon. Any advice or opinion is valued! much appreciated
  8. @RandallT is writing a member review for the G30 SF Tec driver that he won in the Newport Cup Prediction Contest. This thread will serve as an ongoing mini-blog for him to post his review, pics when the driver arrives, share initial impressions or answer questions.
