  1. Golf Channel is teasing the heck out of something this morning. What is it? Is it about 18-2? Something else? Why do it after one year? So it is about 18-2. :sigh: In 2017 they're creating a local rule when a ball "accidentally" moves on the putting green. If wind or something else moves it, you still play it from the new position. So did Dustin cause his ball to move? They would still say yes, just accidentally. Had he played it from the new position he'd have still been liable for a penalty. I don't like adding this as a local rule. Is it a stopgap until 2018?
  2. With the year coming to a close, it's time for our yearly self-assessment thread. Here's how this will work... Quote your post in the 2016 Golf Goals topic right here in this topic, then write something below your quoted post to let everyone know how you did! Please keep replies to a minimum. Use your Member Swing thread for deeper discussions about your goals and how well you achieved them. P.S. To quote your post from another topic, you can do one of two things: Quote it, select it (with the little + sign in the top left corner), and paste it into the reply box here.
  3. Tomorrow, I'm going to post the yearly awards for our three main awards: Member of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Kickstarter of the Year. Winners of the Gold, Silver, and Bronze level will be chosen. If you'd like to increase your odds* of winning and you're not already a Supporter of the site, there's still time to become a Supporter. * If there's an exact tie, and one member is a Supporter and the other is not, I'll choose the Supporter to win the award. 2014: 2015:
  4. Let's hear it!? What's on your Christmas (golf) wish list this year? If you don't celebrate Christmas, sub out that word with "holiday" or whatever else that makes sense, even if that word is "December" or "end of the year"?
  5. I'm watching on my TV while I do some work. I'll quasi live-blog it here. 12:59 - Just crowd shots while the music plays. An announcement says the event will start soon. 13:01 - A video intro with the guy who sings in cars. The late night guy. James Cordon. Carpool Karaoke. Tim Cook is singing. 13:04 - okay getting old. 13:04 - On stage. I'll skip if they recap a bunch of stuff unless it's unusual or surprising.
  6. Up to now, all of the talk has been about who's not playing in the Olympics. But we're getting close to the actual event so now I think it's time to talk about who is playing, what we think of the new course, predictions, etc. The Men's field: http://www.igfgolf.org/olympic-games/qualification-system/ogr-men/ The Women's field: http://www.igfgolf.org/olympic-games/qualification-system/ogr-women/ The Course: http://www.golfdigest.com/story/the-olympic-course-experience
  7. Lest we forget sandwiched between the Olympics and a PGA Tour event is the US Amateur, in which a 23 man playoff for 8 spots (3 birdied in, then 4 birdied, then 1 pared) ensued in The Great Lakes State. http://www.golf.com/tour-and-news/us-amateur-reaches-match-play-after-epic-23-man-playoff http://www.wxyz.com/sports/us-amateur-leader-on-oakland-hills-its-called-the-monster-for-a-reason http://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central-blog/us-amateur-range-no-shots-longer-240-yards/ http://www.usga.org/championships/2016/u-s--amateur/scoring.html
  8. The Open Championship feels like it ended yesterday. Next week, the PGA Championship, major number 4 will be played because, the Olympics. Since it's so soon, CBS's, or is it Nantz's catchphrase, glory's last shot doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it? Does this favor Stenson and Mickelson or are they too tired? Will we hear from the big three? Will another non major winner emerge? Will Nantz make us eye-roll ourselves to death as he opines saccharine about who knows what and name drops his best buds? Is the season basically over... in July? All I know is, this is the major with the
  9. I've got the old NBC theme going in my head, but alas, it's Fox, with its updated announcing lineup in its sophomore year. The US Open is my favorite major of the year, and it's at the venerable Oakmont CC. an added bonus, with its church pews bunkers in the great state of Pennsylvania. 10. At least early on, I realize that most of the discussion here will be about Donald Trump. That's fine, but at least now people can no longer hide behind "it's off topic to discuss the candidate I support." Ideally the conversation in this thread will be a bit more well-rounded, and not just 99% anti-Trump stuff. I don't follow politics at all, so I'll go back to staying out of things for the most part, but I'm pretty sure Clinton, Cruz, and Sanders have "negative" things about them, too.

  16. So, Jordan Spieth is skipping it, and the field isn't the strongest two weeks after the most recent major… so who wins? PGA Tour pros have a pretty compressed summer of majors, what with the Olympics crowding things.
  17. For the discussion of the 2016 Masters, to be played April 7-10 at some muni course named Augusta National GC. Who will win? Who will be the surprise story? Will Jordan Spieth get out of his funk?
  18. The line of scrimmage for extra-point tries will stay at the 15-yard line. Offensive and defensive play callers can communicate directly with players, whether or not they’re upstairs in the coaches’ booth. All chop blocks are illegal. A player who is penalized twice in one game for certain types of unsportsmanlike conduct fouls can be ejected. One year only. The horse collar rule was expanded to include when a defender grabs the jersey at the name plate or above and pulls a runner toward the ground. The spot after a touchback is now the 25-yard line
  19. So, a surprise gift arrived from Adidas the other day… I assumed when I opened them up, I'd find either shorts or some weird pants that had stretchy material or slits or something around the knee. This pretty much confirmed, naturally, that I would find some shorts inside. And I did: The grey ones are super slick and nice. The pink ones are the same, but not at all my style. The belt and socks just complete the package (the belt is nice, but the clamp will indent the rubber part pretty quickly). I've always liked Adidas clothes. We wear their clothes almo
  20. Here's another bracket you can fill in in March. The big three are in the field although it's match play. Watson, DJ, Mickelson and Fowler too. http://www.worldgolfchampionships.com/content/worldgolfchampionships/dell-match-play.html
  21. Jordan Spieth is playing. Will he win again?
  22. TST will be at the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show, and this is the thread for all of the coverage. I'll be doing mostly things with LSW, 5SK, and KickX… but occasionally I'll meet up with @WUTiger and @SavvySwede who will be bringing all of the action your way. If there's something you'd like them to check out, post it here. For all of their coverage, follow this topic! It's going to be a blast!
  23. @david_wedzik and I will be at the Medicux/KickX booth, #1615, at the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show. I'll be there most of the time, and Dave will be there a bit more often. (I'll occasionally be away to do some TST stuff.) http://www.pgashow.com/en/Exhibitors/1032704/Medicus-Kick-X-Golf Stop by! Bring your copy of LSW if you'd like for us to sign it!
