The point of the backswing is to turn your body and to slightly bend your trail elbow, to elevate your trail elbow (to varying degrees), and to hinge your wrists (to varying degrees). The first bit — what's commonly called "turning your shoulders" — is the most important. Getting the club to parallel is not even on the list.

Hi everyone, a little while ago I was pounding drives dead straight 270 yards. This lasted about a week. Now I have and awful slice. It seems like for whatever reason, now I am taking the club back way to vertically. A few weeks ago I decided to work on shallowing my swing, really I feel like ended up reconstructing my swing. In the end I’ve gone for a hogan style swing. Now that I’m swinging shallower, I don’t feel comfortable. Not because of muscle memory or not enough grooving, it just doesn’t feel repeatable or like I was meant to move that way. I’m a wee bit torn because it eli

I ve seen a few instructors say to just move your arms back on your back swing so your postures nice and lined up. And others that you should turn your body on the back swing. Which one do you do? And if you turn your body do you start your back swing turning your shoulders first and then the arms come around?

New to the forums and any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm about a 15 handicapper and I've always struggled with slicing my driver. My irons go pretty straight and I can even manage a draw sometimes, but my driver is almost always a slice. At one point, I managed to make it into a nice power fade with good distance, but these days, it's a slice and I lose tons of distance. I know my problem is coming over the top and not rotating my arms enough to square the face, but I've never been able to get rid of it. Recently, I've had a little success with trying to keep my back toward

Golf backswing tips - I have found a great video wich I wanted to share with you guys. It explains very well how to practice a nice backswing drill. http://www.golfchannel.com/media/golf-fix-making-correct-backswing/ When you hit with a driver it is very important that the movement comes from your shoulders and not from your hands. Le the traingle of your shoulders and arms be intact by making a slow turn. Find a ritm that is contrallable and move from there backwards, to your top position. The movement backwards has to be synchroon.

I once heard a story of a kid in Florida who practiced his backswing (at the range, with a ball at his feet) for nearly three hours. Let me say that again with a little added emphasis: he practiced his backswing for nearly three hours. He didn't hit a single ball. Didn't even make a downswing. He recorded, used a mirror, checked his video, and made backswings for nearly 180 consecutive minutes. That's madness. The backswing is an important part of the golf swing. A lot of golfers get off track with the backswing, and then must undergo a series of compensati
