  1. Had a question about the new caddy rule and lining up a player. I understand it for the most part but if I am standing in front of my player for example on a putting green and the hole is between us once they take there stance would I be able to direct them verbally since I am not standing behind the player. Also could I direct them from some other position like from the side. I guess does this rule just prohibit giving alignment advice from behind the player? Was just a bit confused on this. Thanks for help on this and here is the rule. 2019 Rule: Under Rule 10.2b(4): The current prohibition will be extended so that, once the player begins taking a stance for the stroke, and until the stroke is made, the player’s caddie must not deliberately stand on or close to an extension of the line of play behind the ball for any reason. There will be no penalty if the caddie accidentally stands on or close to an extension of the line of play behind the ball, rather than in trying to help in lining up. Reasons for Change: Although a player may get advice from a caddie on the shot to be played, the line of play and similar matters, the ability to line up one’s feet and body accurately to a target line is a fundamental skill of the game for which the player alone should be responsible. Allowing a caddie to stand behind a player taking a stance so as to direct the player how to line up undermines the player’s need to use his or her own alignment skills and judgment. We believe that an appropriate line is drawn between allowing advice from a caddie and prohibiting the caddie from being involved in directing the player in the act of taking a stance to play the ball.
  2. http://www.golfdigest.com/story/heres-the-jason-dufner-club-drop-that-people-were-upset-about-at-the-rbc-heritage I know there was another thread on this topic (sort of) a while ago, but I found how this was portrayed in the story and some of the reaction interesting. I didn't see this live, but I would bet that what one of the commenters in the story said was true..... that the caddy was probably holding the flagstick so he would have been walking to the hole anyways. Either way, probably not a great look for Dufner.
  3. I wanted to just say how much I love my Garmin Vivo Active watch for golf. My wife bought it for me as a triathlon training tool (I did one and won't make that mistake again ;-)). It has got a great feature for golf. I love how I can always look down at my watch and know exactly how far away from the green I am. It also does a shot distance tracker, so you can hit that button and start walking to your ball and it will check exactly how far you hit it. It also has a scorecard feature that will automatically switch to score mode once you're on the green, so you can add your score in. It then syncs with your smartphone so you can save all your scores on there. It doesn't have to be connected to your phone during the round, which is nice, so it saves your phone's battery. The only downfall is that if your watch isn't at least halfway charged before 18 holes, it will likely die during the round. It is also your traditional smart watch, so it sends all texts, emails, notifications to your phone, tracks your sleep and steps, etc... You can pick one up on Amazon for about $189. It's water proof (again, it's meant for triathletes) and very hardy. I give it 5 stars and two thumbs up.
