Today is a big day! The forum underwent a rather large upgrade. While most of the looks will remain the same, many of the features that go into powering the site have been upgraded. Here are a few of the highlights. Some will matter more to some than others… but all make the site that much better! In no particular order… Animated GIFs You can now add animated GIFs, easily, to posts with the click of a button and a quick search! Post Before Registering If you are a guest (this probably doesn't apply to many of you), you can now post and then register.

IPS, or "Invision Power Software," is the software platform that we use to run the forum. Yesterday I upgraded from version 4.2.9 (the latest in a series of small updates) to the feature-filled 4.3 version. This update has been in the works since the start of 2018, and is finally here and in early tests delivers what it says it will. Some of the best features are for admins and mods, but for you folks - the users and members - here are the features you will notice and want to use: Automatic Content Moderation (Link) This feature lets members hide content that's either inapprop

Not a lot of user-facing changes. I doubt we'll implement 2FA here - there's nothing very secure here for regular members to need or require that added protection. Key Changes In addition to bug fixes and performance improvements, this release also includes: Pinterest share link has been added Two Factor Authentication Images embedded in the editor can now have an alternative title set for accessibility Users signing in through social services, such as Facebook, will no longer be required to validate their ema

IPS 4.2 is going to introduce something called "Clubs." We had "groups" or something similar on Huddler, and now it's coming to IPS in a more powerful way. https://invisionpower.com/news/new-clubs-r1017/ There's some information on it. My question for all of you… how would you like to see this implemented? Let's use this topic to brainstorm. What kind of club would you like to create? To join? Clubs don't have to be strictly golf-related.

This release focuses on bug fixes and performance. You should see speed improvements. New features include: A new moderator setting to restrict users from ignoring moderators. A new group setting to allow members to lock their own content. A new group setting to hide a group from filters in search. When moving content moderators are now prompted for where you want to be redirected after the action. Activity Streams can be created with condensed view as default. An email is now sent when an account is locked for too many bad login attempts. When editin

Welcome to the new forum! While all the content is here, some of it is suffering from goofy formatting. For example, everyone may want to update their signatures (and in doing so, note that "enter" or "return" inserts a new paragraph while shift-enter or shift-return inserts a new line). Some videos don't show up. Those should be re-processed soon. Ditto for your content counts and reputation totals (which will be adjusted downward slightly, because unlike at the old site, every vote here is worth just 1 point). This thread is for the detailing of other bugs. Provide

Awards are now available! In fact, if you check out http://thesandtrap.com/awards/, you'll see the ones I've created. Later tonight (or, more likely, tomorrow) I hope to wrap up the Member of the Year/Month, Kickstarter of the Year/Month, and Rookie of the Year/Month awards. I've divided the "awards" into two categories. First are "Awards" which are more site-specific types of things. Like the "Rookie of the Month" award. They are seen under the signature on the forum. Second, we have "Achievements." These are going to be golf-specific things, like for those

I just completed the upgrade from 4.1.12.3 to 4.1.13. Here are the notes (slightly edited). I'll say a few things in red as additional notes… Version 4.1.13 of the IPS Community Suite is now available. This is a maintenance release to fix reported issues and add refinement to existing features. In addition to bug fixes and performance improvements, this release also includes following enhancements New per-group setting to highlight posts made by certain groups. 2 theme settings control the color and border, which are editable in the easy theme editor. (We ma

Here are the release notes: https://invisionpower.com/release-notes/4112-r40/ New Features: When you mouseover the badge showing who liked a post, you will now see a larger list of who liked that post. You can still click to get the full list. Ratings now show half-stars for the average (for example, if one user votes 3 stars and another 4, it will show 3 and a half stars) and there is now an indication if you have rated something. A "Preview" button has been added to the post editor which shows how the post will appear after BBCode processing. Tabs show how the post wi

Change is hard. In giving lessons sometimes a golfer will tell me that something feels "uncomfortable." I prefer to say "it feels different, which every change will feel like, but it shouldn't be uncomfortable." With that approach, here in no particular order are a list of things that are different - and better - about the new site software! 1. Significantly easier to embed videos, tweets, instagram, etc. Just paste in the URL most of the time and voilà! There it is! 2. Easier to add an attachment! For example, one of the ways to do it is to just drag it into the lower section of the post! 3.

https://community.invisionpower.com/release-notes/ As of about an hour ago, I've updated this site to run IPS version 4.1.2. This change (from 4.0.13.1) to 4.1.2 brings with it a lot of impressive updates, and changes the way we do a few things. Very quickly… The menu structure is now customizable. The content discovery system has been greatly enhanced with "streams." Selective quoting of text. Editor updates that make it easier to @mention, embed content, and edit quoted text. Pages application enhancements. Im

Edit January 1, 2018: https://thesandtrap.com/how-to/embed-videos/ There is no need to follow the directions below. This topic was quite old. Please see the "How-To" page above. This video should explain it. Essentially, I paste the URL in (on its own line) and hit return. Then repeat until one (or more) of them embed. It's annoying, but it works 100% of the time.

2015-10-29 Pre-Defined Topic Fields lets us pre-define the topic field and title for the Member Swings section of the site. I may add it to the Announcements/Tech Support section too.Highlight Authors lets us highlight the Topic Starter for each topic (thread). Currently this makes their entire post brown and gives them the badge on the left side that says "Topic Starter". The developer plans to change the background to a checkbox which I will, at that time, disable.

On Huddler, we had "profile pictures:" Here on IPS, we have "cover photos" on our profiles. To add yours, visit your profile page and click the top right corner where it says "Cover Photo." Choose "Upload Photo" and select a fairly wide photo. Once you upload it, you can reposition the photo. You can see mine right here: http://thesandtrap.com/profile/1-iacas/ So, visit your profile and set your own cover photo.
