  1. So im going to be buying a new shaft for a driver i bought. dont like the shaft at all. its a 915D head. When i cut the shaft how should i measure it? I need a 43 inch shaft, thats what i was fitted for. So is that measurement from the tip of the adapter to the end of the shaft before i put the grip on? Or do i cut the shaft at 43" then put the adapter on? Thanks in advance
  2. New to this forum so hi all! I've played for a year now and always played with a poor set. I've just took over a set of TaylorMade RSi2's (4-Pw). As I'm 6'4 the clubs are 1 inch longer (once got measured at an open day somewhere and this is right for me). So this is the setup with lengths: Nr - std - plus1inch i4 - 38,25 - 39,25 i5 - 37,75 - 38,75 i6 - 37,25 - 38,25 i7 - 36,75 - 37,75 i8 - 36,25 -36,25 i9 - 35,75 - 35,75 Pw - 35,5 - 36,5 I don't have the sets Aw (50) and Sw (56), but the standard length for those are: Aw - 35,5 - 36,5 (same as Pw) Sw - 35,25 - 36,25 I do have 2 Cleveland RTX3.0 wedges in 50 and 56. Standaard length for those: 50 wedge - 35,25 56 wedge - 35,125 These are not extended, and if I extend them with 1 inch they would become: 50 wedge - 36,25 (0,25 shorter than in the set) 56 wedge - 36,125 (a marginal 0,125 shorter than in the set) I have searched/read a lot about lengthening clubs, but not necessarily about the extension of the wedges, and if the wedges also need to be extended (and match) with the iron set or not. Also because you sometimes grip the wedges shorter. Also, anyone familiar with putting +1 inch on a RTX3.0? Is a wedge not normally more sensitive to changes in lie (as a result of the +1 in length)? And, if I lengthen the 50 and 56, should I lengthen +1 inch, or match the length as if it were the clubs in the standard RSi2 set? (marginal difference though) Would love to hear some of your opinions on this topic. Greetings, Hamerhaai (the Netherlands)
  3. I don't understand PING's color code system (note: as of July 10, they reverted back to an older style, eliminating some colors like "purple" and going from 3/4° adjustments back to full-° adjustments). For example, my daughter @NatalieB was fit for -1" and purple (1.5° flat) color code in her irons. This tells you what you need to know: length and lie. But then PING wrote to say that my fitter was using the old codes, and that purple was no more, and she would fit into black. They included these two images (bottom of post). Now, someone tell me what I don't understand: black just says standard lie angle, but if irons are ordered 1" short, is the lie angle standard, 1° flat, 2° flat… or what? Isn't the color code just a stand-in for the lie angle? It seems to me two pieces of information are needed: lie angle and length. Yes, they often or usually go together - 1" long and 2° upright, or 1/2" short and 1° flat or whatever - but they don't have to. You could like an upright, shorter club… So how does a color code solve anything when you still need to know two things: length and lie? Is the color-code just a stand-in for the lie angle? If so, shouldn't purple (-1.5°) be red or orange now, with the -1" adjustment? How did she go from -1" and 1.5° flat to -1" and standard lie angle?
  4. Hey guys, I recently got a bomb tech grenade driver that plays 45.5" I'm going to shave down the driver length to 44.5 from the butt end. The current swing weight is d2 and I'd like to stay between d1-d2. Will adding lead tape underneath the grip increase the swing weight? I have no interest in adding lead tape to the driver head.
  5. My long irons 3 and 4 have a massive sh**k problem I can't seem to shake. I have never been fitted, but this issue followed me with a recent club change. Standard length clubs. All other clubs I am happy with. I noticed with my 3 and 4 that the toe is up at address. My long irons always feel floppy and heavy, I feel like I am reaching, and promote a really flat and fanning swing plane, resulting in me round-housing the ball to the outside and thus the hozzle hit. If I choke up to a flat address I found consistent pure long shots, a steeper plane and balanced swing feel, great distance. But, I have to choke 3-4 inches down the grip almost to the metal for these results. I have found many opinions. Hank Haney says always address flat from driver to putter. Others say always address toe up to accommodate shaft flex upon impact. Should I consider shortening my long irons? Or just adjusting the lie to my swing? What questions should I ask the club fitter? Several instructors have looked and never been able to fix this issue, but no one has ever mentioned club fitting as a possibility. I have a lot to work on, but in general I am happy with my game and my swing except for the long irons. I am 6'-1", and by Internet measurements (Ping) I should be using standard length clubs with .25 extra. I can't imagine going any longer. Thanks! 12.5 Handicap.
