  1. PGA Championship will take place at Harding in August - but without fans <p>San Francisco public health officials have approved plans to hold the PGA Championship in early August at Harding Park — but the event will take place without spectators because of the coronavirus pandemic, The...
  2. It looks like Ian Poulter got his (wrong) way after bullying the rule official into giving a LWH drop despite the ball not being found in time in the hazard, or virtually certainly known to be into the hazard (nobody saw the ball enter the hazard) http://ftw.usatoday.com/2017/08/2017-pga-championship-ian-poulter-hazard-video-rules-official-argument http://golfweek.com/2017/08/13/ian-poulter-argues-over-ball-being-lost-in-interesting-rules-drama/ He makes such a fuss about the ball being into the hazard as where else could it be... and of course someone finds the ball after the 5 minutes have elapsed... outside the hazard! How could Poulter be certain his ball was in the hazard, had his ball not been found, when it turns out to have been (lost) outside the hazard? He should have had to go back to the tee under 27-1 instead of dropping outside the hazard, so he got away with at least one shot in his favor...
  3. Predict the Winner of the 2017 PGA Championship with The Sand Trap and Snell Golf! WHO do you think will WIN the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow and what SCORE will they shoot? PLEASE READ the rules thoroughly. Each contest people are disqualified for simple mistakes. To enter, post your answer right here in this thread along with the bold that says why YOU choose to play the Snell ball that you prefer to play. For example, "I expect a lot out of my golf ball, so I play the Snell My Tour Ball for the best performance I can get." Note as always that you are NOT predicting who will finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd; you are picking three players to win and the score(s) they will shoot. The first choice carries tremendous weight (see the rules below for more), while the second and third choices exist simply in case we don't have a winner selected by anyone's first selection. The Prizes First Place One first-place winner will win a prize pack from Snell Golf that includes: Two Dozen MTB golf balls. A Snell Golf hat. A Snell Golf towel. MY TOUR BALL is our 3-piece, tour caliber golf ball engineered to provide outstanding tee to green performance, with a mission to enhance scoring for golfers of all skill levels. The Core has been developed with a very low compression, soft feel, with high velocity to help with ball speed regardless of swing speed and creates low driver spin rates for longer distances. The Mantle layer works on longer shots to keep control of the spin, and works with the thin soft cast urethane cover on shorter irons and chip shots to create higher spin rates for better control into the green. The Cover layer is made of a thermoset cast urethane, tour proven cover. This technology allows very thin covers for better short game spin control, and is very soft and durable. Second Place The second-place winner will win one dozen MTB golf balls. The Rules - All qualifying entries must be received no later than Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Midnight eastern time zone (New York City). - Winners will be notified within 48 hours of the completion of The 2017 PGA Championship and will have 48 hours after notifications are sent to claim their prize. - You must have a shipping address within the 50 United States of America or Canada. - You must be a registered member of The Sand Trap in good standing. - You must be aged eighteen (18) or older as of the date of entry. - Your answer must include 1) the visible and bold text as described above, 2) the FULL NAME (first and last, for the purposes of proper and unique identification) and 3) the score in relation to par (+2, -4, E, etc.) of the player you are predicting to win the 2017 PGA Championship, as well as your 2nd and 3rd choices (same rules apply - full name, score in relation to par). - The Winner will be selected as the first person in the contest to correctly pick both the winner and the score. The runner up will be the second person to correctly pick the winner and score or be the first person to pick closest to the winner/score. - Two (2) entries per person and per household. The second entry is only allowed the week of the PGA Championship (Monday, August 7 through Wednesday, August 9). Any additional entries or modifications invalidate all entries. - If we suspect fraud of any kind - suspicious multiple entries, for example - we reserve the right to award the prize to the next valid entry in the order established above. Details regarding the green, underlined rule: It's very simple. The winner is the first person (who satisfies the other rules) to choose the correct winner and score with their first choice. If nobody picks the correct score, the winner is the first person to have the closest score for the correct winner. If nobody chooses the correct winner with their first choice, we repeat the process for everyone's second choice, and then the third. In other words, if someone chooses Joe Smith for their first choice - at any score - and you choose him for your second choice, you've wasted your second choice. Think of your picks like draft picks. Your second and third choices should be someone you don't think will be chosen in the first "round." Winners will have 48 hours to claim their prize after being notified.. Again, please read the details about how to go about entering the contest and picking players. Don't pick top ten players for your 2nd and 3rd picks. Example for this contest would look like this: I play the Get Sum by Snell Golf because it helps me "get sum" of my buddy's money! 1) Old Tom Morris -3 2) Francis Ouimet +2 3) Gene Sarazen -5

  5. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/jul/13/rory-mcilroy-scottish-open-golf-poulter-fowler Sky faces golf embarrassment after losing rights to next month’s US PGA Then… http://www.telegraph.co.uk/golf/2017/07/14/opening-two-days-masters-danger-lost-uk-television-no-deal-place/ Exclusive: Opening two days of The Masters in danger of being lost to UK television with no deal in place for live coverage Ooof. I wonder how our compatriots across the pond are feeling about this…?
  6. Per this article: The idea of the first big tournament happening in March, and then having a major each month after that, culminating with the playoffs, all before the NFL season or baseball stretch run start making noise seems like a really good idea to me.
  7. The Open Championship feels like it ended yesterday. Next week, the PGA Championship, major number 4 will be played because, the Olympics. Since it's so soon, CBS's, or is it Nantz's catchphrase, glory's last shot doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it? Does this favor Stenson and Mickelson or are they too tired? Will we hear from the big three? Will another non major winner emerge? Will Nantz make us eye-roll ourselves to death as he opines saccharine about who knows what and name drops his best buds? Is the season basically over... in July? All I know is, this is the major with the most commercials, get that DVR warmed up. Here's the field Here's the course TV: CBS not fearful, but rather relishes quick turnaround between British Open and PGA Championship

    Going to Baltrusol

Hey, it looks like I have a pair of tickets to the first two days of the PGA. It will be the first time for both my son (25) and me attending a professional tournament. Any suggestions for making the most of the experience?
