I've often thought about what if I could take the skill sets of all three of my playing partners (on any give round they change up), and merge them into one golfer. For instance, just last week, there was one guy who could drive the ball 260 yards consistently and mostly on the fairways, but needed a hybrid for a 150 yard approach shot? One of the other partners was terrible off the tee for some reason and many times needed to tee off with a long iron, but once on the fairway you couldn't stop him from getting near or on the green. The third in this particular round was really good at chipping and putting. No exaggeration, but this golfer could put a PGA tour pro to shame with the long putts made. So, I was kind of mentally picturing a hybrid golfer with all the skills of these three. I've done this mental experiment numerous times over the past year or so, and it was becoming pretty clear to me why people play scrambles or brambles. I've been partnered numerous times with people like this. Random people, not just scramble partners. Anyone else had similar experiences, it so it would be fun to hear them?
