  1. Golf Stats of the Year: 2019 - 15th Club Though the year will historically be defined by one incredible week in April, 2019 featured an enormous array of statistical highlights in… @jamo has something to add to this one:
  2. The 2019-20 season has arrived, and so has the Low 65 and Ties Cut. Current Greenbrier Leaderboard 68 players made the cut at 4-under-136. There was a 21-way tie for 48th place (136/-4). 16 players were tied for 69th at 3-under-137, one stroke outside the Low 65 Among those two strokes outside the cut at 2-under-138 were Bryson DeChambeau, Zach Johnson and Ryan Armour. If anyone has not yet seen the new 65-place prize money distribution, here's three sources ... (1) 2019 Greenbrier Tie Table (PDF) -- Divide leftmost dollar figures by 1.5 for the base default amounts (2) 2019-20
  3. If you (your kids) are planning to play Hurricane events this year, please consider using this link to sign up for your first tournament: http://bglf.com/hg7qj. It will use the coupon or referral code “HSDK66” and you’ll save $60 on your first tournament (whether you’re a member or not). BTW if you’re only playing a few HJGT events, you don’t have to join. The events cost more, but if you are only playing 1 or 2, not joining may be slightly less expensive.
  4. I was wondering how realistic it would be to become a pro golfer if i started in my teens?
  5. So we all seem to have a favorite golfer or 2 or 3 from the pool of "big names" on tour. Usually when in a group I find that at least a few guys say their favorite golfer is one of those that can be found near the top of the World Golf Rankings (amongst the Mickelsons, Spieths, DJs, Rorys, etc of the world). However, who are some guys that you like to follow closely that may not be a household name? The reasons can vary, whether they have done something off the course that you admire, hail from your hometown, etc. For me, being a Clemson grad, I like to follow the guys on Tour t
  6. Hi all, I wanted to swing by here to quickly get opinions on some of the better forged iron sets that are relatively modern (post 2005 at least). I'm in the market for a second-hand iron set to tinker with and wanted feedback on what you all had great experiences with or have seen great reviews of. I'm not locked into any brand specifically but have seen fantastic things about early Nike blades and really any Mizuno forged blades. I'm looking to spend no more than 350 if that helps at all. I'm looking to lock down a purchase in several weeks before the season in the Midwest really picks u
  7. I read this today about a poor fella on the Web.com Tour who is obviously a very good golfer and it made me feel better about my game. Decuple Bogey? Oh yeah, it's in my wheelhouse. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/golf/webcom-tour-player-finishes-round-with-decuple-bogey-15/ar-AAm81nC?li=BBnbfcL&ocid=iehp
  8. Relative to the entirety of a PGA career, Spieth is still in his childhood years of the tour despite his wild success already. But seeing how the emergence and resurgence of so many golfers to the top of the game has resulted in such a competitive landscape to where a more than a handful of guys can win on Sunday, do you all think he will raise his play to a higher level as we have seen previously? He is still playing killer golf, but his performances haven't been out of this world like we saw in the last couple years. This is NOT a "Spieth is declining" post but rather wondering if he can amp
  9. NO I do not work for RBG. ANYWAYS, their clearance section is 75% off pre-Christmas and it includes really awesome stuff from clubs to shafts and more. I like knowing people are getting great deals on golf stuff so feel free to head over ( http://myaccount.rockbottomgolf.com/mod_myRewards/referralWelcome.php?referralCode=RVUEAE ) and head to the "Clearance Cave". $40 Cleveland 588 Fairway Wood $75 Taylormade SLDR Driver $200 Adams Blue Irons $30 Hybrids from Adams and Callaway ... just to provide some highlights. No I do not work for them. Happy Christmas Eve everyone
  10. I created the table below based on how the PGA Tour calculates Strokes Gained putting, using my most recent round. For some reason, GameGolf is telling my my Strokes Gained (or lost) was -4.62 strokes for this round against a scratch golfer. Seems quite a bit off considering the actual calculation is -3.02 against the PGA Tour Average. That's over a 1.5 stroke difference. I don't know that I would take the time to do this for every round I play, but it seems that GG is quite a bit off when I spot checked a few more rounds.
  11. What do you guys think would be the latest age to really start making a push to compete on the european tour? I know a lot started in their younger life but with lessons weekly and daily practice surely you could attempt to qualify within 5 -7 years?
  12. In my opinion, it was definitely The Oldest Major. So many players had a chance to win on the back 9, and then there was the 3 man playoff! I was "on the edge of my seat" for 3 hours. Add to it the drama of whether Jordan would join Ben as the ONLY player to win the Masters, the US Open, and THE Open in one year. Finally, it all took place at the "Birthplace of Golf"!
