The days are getting shorter, there is a chill in the air, and a lot of guys no one has ever heard of played in this weeks PGA Tour event…it must be Fall! Another week has gone by Sand Trappers and I have returned with one more edition of Hittin’ the Links.

What a couple of weeks its been since the last Hittin’ the Links! Sorry Sand Trappers but everyone needs to take a holiday now and then. On my vacation we watched Rory dominate, crowned a FedEx Cup winner, and watched as the American Ryder Cup team gagged their guts out on the final day of competition. Now that that’s all behind us we can get on with the Fall Finish and then to the real excitement, Q-School.

Life is really good right now for Rory McIlroy. Talk about being on top of the world, the kid is doing a very good impression of another player who was dominant in his mid-twenties…what was his name? Anyway, congratulations to Rory and I certainly hope he cools down a bit by September 25th.

We are down to seventy in the FedEx Cup playoffs and Rory McIlroy is looking more and more like the guy to beat with the resurgence of his game as of late. Throw in the fact Davis Love III has some decisions to make this morning, and the best event in all of golf is just around the corner and we have a lot of golf to look forward to in the coming month.

Its one down and three to play in the FedEx Cup playoffs, and twenty five guys can now take a few weeks off in the coming month. Nick Watney looked very good down the stretch even birdying the final hole to put an exclamation point on his three shot win. Now we will have to see what is in store this week at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Dufner will make his 2012 debut as red hot Sergio Garcia takes the week off due to fatigue.

Congratulations to Sergio Garcia for climbing back into the winners circle on Monday. It might have taken an extra day, but I am sure Sergio thought it was worth the wait. And with Fellow countryman and Ryder Cup Captain, Jose Maria Olazabal, getting ready to make his captain’s picks this win couldn’t have come at a better time!
