Boo Weekly missed a three-foot putt on the final hole at The Honda Classic on Sunday to blow an opportunity to win his first PGA Tour event. The Golf Channel aired coverage this morning at 8:30, and by 9:00 it was obvious Boo wouldn’t redeem himself.
This week we have a recap of The Honda Classic, the greatest streak ever, and a story about a tennis pro turned golfer that is truly unbelievable.
Hole 1: Same Time Tomorrow
Boo Weekly missed a three-foot, three-inch putt in his quest for his first PGA Tour victory. Now he gets to have a little extra fun on Monday with Camilo Villegas, Mark Wilson and Jose Coceres. [Link]
Hole 2: Vroom, Vroom
The Honda Classic has moved to the Champion Course at the PGA National Resort and Spa in West Palm Beach, FL. Depending on the time of year, you too can play this course for as little as $115. [Link]
Hole 3: Your What Hurts?
John Daly withdrew from the Honda Classic due to injury after stopping mid-swing because a spectator snapped his picture. Darn those paying customers! [Link]
Hole 4: The Big Callaway
Ernie Els is the newest golfer to jump to a new equipment company after leaving Titleist to play with Phil the Thrill at Callaway. [Link]
Hole 5: Greatest Streak?
Dick Friedman argues that Byron Nelson’s streak of 11 straight PGA Tour victories is the greatest streak in sports. For me, Joe DiMaggio’s 56-game hitting streak is the greatest. Let the debate begin. [Link]
Hole 6: Big Break Retreads
In a great show of originality, the Golf Channel gathered up a bunch of “memorable characters” from the previous six seasons. Great, more whiny personalities and bad golf. I think I’ll go watch C-Span instead. [Link]
Hole 7: Career Change
Scott Draper was a tennis star in the making until Obsessive Compulsive Disorder took over his life. Now he is trying to make it to the PGA Tour. His life story is better than any fiction you may read. [Link]
Hole 8: Tiger’s Tourney
So let me get this straight, he won’t play the International but it’s ok to host his own PGA Tour event in Washington, D.C. on the same weekend? [Link]
Hole 9: Productivity Drain
The Masters has added additional coverage on their website for this year so you can get less done at work. [Link]
Boo choked, Camilo choked (twice), and that course is indeed a good value at different times of the year. I’ve played it twice, and indeed, the finish is brutal.
And to clarify the John Daly thing: it was a resident of the course, not a paying customer. That’s why she had a camera – she didn’t go through security checkpoints like the true spectators.
Finally, as reality TV goes, Big Break and Amazing Race are about all I watch.
Nothing on the Mark Wilson calling a two-stroke penalty on himself because of his caddy’s mistake? Getting it wrong about Daly and who took the picture (sprained rib and popped shoulder by the way), and YOU ever try to stop that much weight during a swing?!
The only thing you got was Big Break 7 which, when I talked to Pam from the BB 3 this past Saturday at PGA National, says it was bull and a sexual harrassment lawsuit waiting to happen. Even Val was out and had nothing good to say.
Now boys, I like your stuff, but get your facts confirmed before you put em’ out there or you’ll be just another blog site shoveling sh……..
