Don’t look now, but many big names teed it up this week in the WGC event in Shanghai.
We’re already a month into the 2015-16 PGA TOUR season, the Champions Tour concluded this month, the European Tour and the LPGA are moving toward their finales. It’s true, golf’s Silly Season matters now.

Hole #1: Knox, Knox
Russell Knox got in as an alternate and scored a big win in Shanghai with a 2-stroke vicotry in the WGC-HSBC Champions. His first PGA TOUR win is also the first WGC title for a Scot. [Link]
Hole #2: Langer Loses Playoff, Wins Cup
Billy Andrade beat Bernhard Langer on the first playoff hole to win the finale of the Charles Schwab Cup in Scottsdale. No worries for Bernhard, though, he took home the Cup and the cash that goes with it for the third time. [Link]
Hole #3: It’s Sun-Ju in Shima-Shi
It just took one playoff hole for Sun-Ju Ahn to win the Toto Japan Classic in Shima-Shi, Mie, Japan. It was her first LPGA Tour win. I think it’s cool that an ’80s rock band sponsors an event, but wouldn’t Africa be a more appropriate locale? (jk) [Link]
Hole #4: Rain Forces Monday Finish in Mississippi
Weather has been a big problem at the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi. As of Sunday evening, Round 3 has been suspended due to darkness and Roberto Castro has a one-stroke lead in the opposite field event. [Link]
