Volume Four Hundred Seventy-Four

I took a six on a par 3 this weekend in support of Jordan Spieth.

Hittin' the LinksWith Masters weekend past, all of the major tours were in action this weekend giving the golf fan plenty to watch.

Jason Bohn returned to play for the first time since his heart attack, and made the cut; celebrities and those with deep pockets gathered in Myrtle Beach for the annual Monday After the Masters golf tournament/party; and those bitten by bad luck or bad play at Augusta licked their wounds while the media and fans pondered what it all means. And most importantly to me personally, Spring found the Midwest again and the golf was good!

Let’s hit the links!

Hole #1: Grace-ful Landing
South Africa’s Branden Grace shot 65 on Sunday for a two-stroke victory in the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head over runners-up Luke Donald and Russell Knox. It was Grace’s first PGA Tour victory, though he is hardly a new face in high-level golf. He has seven European Tour victories and he played in the last two Presidents Cups. In fact, he holds (along with Mark O’Meara, Shigeki Maruyama, Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk) the record for highest number of points earned in the competition in any single year (5). It’s probably time to learn his name. [Link]

Hole #2: Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!
Australia’s Minjee Lee shot 64 on the final day (Saturday) of the Lotte Championship in Hawaii. That was good enough to come from five-strokes back to win by a stroke over third-round leader Katie Burnett and In Gee Chun. [Link]

Hole #3: Fast Play
A French team in Spain set the record for the fastest golf hole relay. A contrived record? Maybe. But it is pretty entertaining to watch. [Link]

Hole #4: Another 64
Woody Austin went off an hour before the tournament leaders and he went low. His 64 was good enough to tie Wes Short Jr. and get him into a playoff that he eventually won. [Link]

Hole #5: Duck Dynasty Regular Wins on EuroTour
Not really. But England’s Andrew Johnston looks like he could fit right in. He was busy kind of busy this weekend anyway, winning the Open de Espana this weekend for his first European Tour victory. [Link]

Hole #6: Buck Up Jordan
Jack Nicklaus tweeted Jordan Spieth a few kind words following the Masters. [Link]

Hole #7: Bubbamojis
Not sure how we missed this important story last week. You can buy Bubba emojis, if you really want to. [Link]

Hole #8: Are Single Length Irons for You

Now that Bryson DeChambeau is a pro (and finished 4th in this debut this week), maybe it’s time to consider this crazy idea of making all your irons a single length. [Link]

Hole #9: Drone Mower

When the machines rise up, steer clear of these. This was predictable. It could have great benefits for golf courses, but could cost lots of grounds crew jobs. And then there’s the whole Robot Overlord thing… [Link]
